One Piece: A Side Story – The Forgotten Isle

Chapter 35: *One Piece: A Side Story – The Forgotten Isle (Part 35)*

The Straw Hat Pirates ran as fast as they could across the crumbling island, the ground beneath their feet shaking with each step. The ruins of the ancient civilization were collapsing behind them, the island itself slowly sinking into the sea as the destructive energy from the artifact continued to spiral out of control. Dust and debris filled the air, making it difficult to see, but the crew pushed forward with a singular goal in mind: get to the ship before it was too late.

"Come on! We're almost there!" Luffy shouted, his voice echoing through the chaos. His face was filled with determination, but there was a hint of urgency in his eyes. The island was falling apart, and every second counted.

Sanji, who was leading the charge, glanced behind him, his eyes narrowed. "This place isn't going to last much longer! We need to get out of here, NOW!"

Zoro was right behind him, his swords still drawn, ever-ready for anything that might come their way. "Just keep running. We can't afford to slow down."

Robin, her thoughts still racing from the visions she had seen through the artifact, ran alongside them, her expression tense. "The island… it's not just the artifact. It's the island's entire energy network that was tied to the artifact's power. With it gone, the entire island is destabilizing."

Nami's voice cut through the noise of the collapsing ruins. "Don't just stand there, Robin! We need to go NOW!" She was already sprinting ahead, her usual composure replaced by sheer panic.

Luffy, his rubbery body easily navigating the collapsing ground, called out to the others. "I've got this! We'll make it to the ship!"

In the distance, the Thousand Sunny could be seen docked at the shore, the ship rocking gently on the waves. But the island's collapse was not going to make the journey any easier.

"We're not going to make it to the shore without facing more trouble," Zoro warned, his hand resting on the hilt of his swords. "Something's coming."

At that moment, a huge explosion from the center of the island sent a massive shockwave through the air, hurling rocks and debris in all directions. The crew ducked as the ground split open in front of them, creating a massive chasm that blocked their path.

"Great! Just what we needed!" Sanji grumbled, his face contorted in frustration. "Now what?"

Luffy was already in action, his body stretching forward to grab onto a nearby ledge. "No time to waste! I'll clear the way!" He extended his arms, reaching out across the chasm to pull the crew to safety.

As the crew made their way across the crumbling ground, another explosion rocked the island. This time, it wasn't just the artifact's energy—it was something far worse. From the heart of the island, a dark shadow began to rise once more, this time in a different form. The massive, dark creature that had once been destroyed by Luffy's King Kong Gun was regenerating, its tendrils twisting up through the cracks in the earth. The monster, now more massive and chaotic than before, was determined to stop them from escaping.

"Not again!" Luffy shouted, his eyes narrowing at the creature. "We need to hurry up and get to the ship!"

The creature let out a deafening roar, sending another shockwave through the island as it surged forward, its tendrils lashing out toward the crew. It was faster this time, the dark energy it had absorbed from the artifact making it far more dangerous than before.

"We're not getting out of here that easily," Robin muttered, her face determined. "We have to fight it!"

Luffy immediately stretched out his arm toward the creature, launching a series of punches. "Gomu Gomu no… Giganto Pistol!" His massive fists slammed into the creature's tendrils, causing them to writhe in pain, but the creature only grew more enraged.

"Guys!" Nami yelled. "We don't have time to fight it! We have to go!"

The creature retaliated, its massive tendrils crashing into the ground with enough force to create massive cracks. One tendril shot toward the crew, and Zoro leapt into action, slicing through it with his swords.

"I'll hold it off," Zoro said through gritted teeth, his swords flashing as he parried another strike. "You guys get to the ship!"

Sanji and Nami, without hesitation, ran ahead, making a break for the Thousand Sunny. "We've got it covered!" Sanji shouted back.

The creature's roar echoed behind them, its massive form lumbering toward them. But Zoro and Luffy continued to hold their ground, launching blow after blow to keep it at bay. "We're almost there!" Luffy yelled, his voice filled with determination.

Just as the crew neared the ship, the final barrier of the collapsing island loomed ahead. The ground buckled beneath them, and a massive wave of debris surged toward them, blocking their escape.

"Not good!" Luffy shouted. "We can't let this thing catch up!"

With a burst of speed, Luffy and Zoro pushed forward, their strength combining as they cleared the debris just in time to jump aboard the Thousand Sunny.

"GET OUT OF HERE, NOW!" Luffy screamed at Franky, who was already revving the ship's engines.

Franky nodded, his eyes intense. "You got it, Captain!" With a single pull of the lever, the Thousand Sunny began to move, pulling away from the island just as it began to sink entirely into the sea.

The crew collapsed onto the deck, panting and exhausted but alive.

Robin, her hand still gripping the artifact, looked back at the sinking island, her face filled with a somber realization. "It's over. The island, the artifact… it's all gone."

Zoro wiped the sweat from his brow, his gaze still on the horizon. "We made it out, but the truth about this place… it's still haunting."

Luffy sat up, grinning. "Doesn't matter now. We're still gonna keep sailing toward the Grand Line! On to the next adventure!"

The Straw Hat Pirates shared a laugh, but even as they celebrated, they all knew that the secrets of the Forgotten Isle were far from fully understood. Their journey was far from over, and the mysterious forces they had uncovered would continue to shape the world they were sailing toward.

To be continued…
