Chapter 82: One Piece: A Side Story – The Forgotten Isle (Part 83)
The battle raged on in the heart of the massive chamber. The shadowy figures seemed endless, their forms shifting and merging into more monstrous shapes with every passing second. The crew had fought through countless enemies before, but this was different. It wasn't just a fight for survival—it was a fight to uncover the truth hidden within the ship.
Luffy, with his boundless energy, was the first to break through the relentless onslaught of enemies. His fists lashed out like whips, knocking back several of the shadowy figures, but every time he struck, they reformed with renewed strength, emerging from the darkness like a never-ending tide. "They just keep coming!" he shouted in frustration, his fists still landing powerful blows.
Zoro slashed through one of the figures with his swords, his eyes narrowing in determination. "They're not real, but they sure feel real enough!" he muttered, his breath coming in short bursts as the shadow before him flickered and split into two more figures. "I need to figure out their weakness..."
Sanji, spinning through the air with kicks blazing like fire, gritted his teeth. "These guys are tough, but we're tougher!" He spun into another kick, sending one of the dark entities flying, but it quickly reappeared, charging at him once more. "No matter how many times we knock them down, they just keep coming!"
Nami's eyes flicked around the room, analyzing the situation. "We need to stop this cycle, or we'll never get to the book!" She turned to Robin, her mind already working out a strategy. "Robin, do you think you could stop their movements with your powers? Hold them in place long enough for us to reach the book?"
Robin's expression softened, nodding. "I can try. But we need a distraction, something to throw them off their focus." She extended her arms, summoning her powers, and began to grow multiple limbs, each one reaching out toward the dark figures. Slowly, she began to bind them, holding them in place as best as she could.
With Robin providing the opening, Nami seized the opportunity. "I'll handle the rest!" She dashed forward, using the shadows as cover to get closer to the pedestal. As she approached, the book on the pedestal began to glow brighter, its symbols pulsating with power.
However, as Nami reached out to grab it, the shadows around the room twisted violently. The ground beneath her feet cracked open, and an immense form materialized before her. A massive, hulking shadow creature with eyes like burning coals rose from the floor, towering over her with a deafening roar.
"Get back!" Zoro shouted, rushing toward the creature, but before he could reach it, the massive shadow swung its enormous fist toward Nami, sending a wave of dark energy through the air.
Nami's heart raced, but in a split second, she felt the wind shift. Luffy, with his rubbery limbs, stretched across the room in an instant, grabbing Nami and pulling her out of harm's way just as the shadow's attack landed where she had been standing moments before.
"Thanks, Luffy!" Nami gasped, her heart pounding in her chest. "But what are we going to do about that thing?!"
The creature growled, its massive form blocking their path. "It's just like the others," Robin said, her eyes scanning its structure. "A manifestation of the ship's will—designed to stop us from reaching the truth."
Zoro, still facing the creature, smirked. "Then we'll have to take it down the same way. This ship wants us to fail? Not a chance." He unsheathed his swords, ready to take the beast head-on.
Luffy's eyes lit up with determination. "Right! This thing's just another test! Let's show it what we're made of!" He cracked his knuckles and shot forward, his body elongating as he jumped into the air, stretching his limbs toward the creature's head.
The shadow beast roared and swung its massive arm toward Luffy, but with a quick flick of his wrist, Luffy dodged the attack, his body bending and twisting to avoid the hit. "Gomu Gomu no..." Luffy's fist began to glow with an intense energy as he prepared for his signature attack. "... Elephant Gun!"
The impact of Luffy's punch collided with the creature's head, sending shockwaves through the room. The creature staggered back, but it quickly regained its footing, more furious than ever. It bellowed, launching another series of strikes with its fists.
Sanji, flying in with a powerful kick, joined the attack. "Take that!" he shouted, his foot slamming into the shadow beast's side, causing a ripple of energy to spread across its form. The creature staggered again, but it didn't go down.
Zoro stood his ground, analyzing the creature's movements with a sharp gaze. "It's tough, but it's not invincible. We just need to land a few more hits." He charged forward, unleashing a series of rapid slashes with his swords, each one cutting deep into the shadow's form.
As the creature recoiled from the onslaught, Robin quickly took action, sending her limbs to immobilize the shadow beast's movements. With her powers holding it in place, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji unleashed their final, combined attacks. Luffy's stretched limbs delivered a flurry of punches to the creature's body, while Zoro sliced through it with his swords, and Sanji landed a blazing kick to its head.
With a final, thunderous roar, the shadow beast collapsed, dissolving into nothingness like a puff of smoke.
The room fell silent. The oppressive air began to lift as the battle's intensity subsided. The dark figures around them began to fade, dissipating into the shadows as the final manifestation of the ship's power was defeated.
Nami, breathing heavily but relieved, took a step toward the pedestal. "Now's our chance."
With one last glance at her crew, Nami reached for the ancient book. As her fingers touched its surface, the symbols on the cover glowed brightly, and the room seemed to hum with an ancient power.
The air grew still, and the crew knew that they were about to unlock the secrets that the ship had been guarding for centuries. Whatever lay within the book would change everything, but they were ready to face it together.
