Shiki, known as the Golden Lion, was the captain of the Flying Pirates, the admiral of the Golden Lion Pirate Fleet, and a legendary sky pirate.
He stood alongside Pirate King Gol D. Roger and Edward "Whitebeard" Newgate as one of the great figures of their era.
Shiki also became the first person in history to escape from Impel Down.
A true pirate, he was cruel, unhesitatingly turning against his subordinates, and wielded the power to devastate entire seas.
Shiki's boldness was unparalleled; he infiltrated Marine Headquarters alone after Roger's capture.
He revered strength and respected opponents who were as powerful as himself. His towering ambition was matched only by his ability to act decisively in pursuit of it.
Without question, he deserved his title as one of the three legendary pirates of his time.
In the West Blue, the once-turbulent sea began to calm, littered with broken wood, shattered ships, and floating debris. Thunder and lightning dissipated gradually.
Arashi stood silently, pale, gazing at the unconscious figure before him—Shiki, the Golden Lion.
Shiki's eyes were rolled back, his body riddled with cuts and burns, a gaping wound in his abdomen, and a charred hole above his right shoulder.
His tattered clothing revealed a body scarred by countless brutal and frequent battles over his lifetime. Such a man could never have lived an ordinary life.
Arashi raised his right hand slowly, murmuring under his breath.
"Though this may be disrespectful to the deceased..."
"But now is not the time for you to die."
Electric arcs crackled at his fingertips before surging into Shiki's body.
Zzzzt!
Shiki's body convulsed violently under the stimulation of the current. Moments later, the sound of his once-stilled heart began to resonate.
Thump-thump! Thump-thump!
Arashi's expression remained calm. His ability to deliver an electric shock was like a tool to bring someone back from the brink of death.
Yet, it was far from perfect. Even though Shiki's heart had resumed beating, his consciousness remained absent, leaving him in a half-dead state—a body functioning without its soul.
In the next instant, Arashi's sensory field expanded, scanning everything within a ten-thousand-meter radius.
His expression darkened as he processed the aftermath. Bullet, Buggy, and Smoker had survived, but the G-18 Fortress was in ruins.
Nearly half of the 20,000 elite soldiers stationed there had perished, with countless others injured. The fortress itself had been reduced to scattered debris.
With a flicker of determination in his eyes, Arashi grabbed Shiki's body. In a flash of lightning, they vanished. Time was short.
Moments later, Arashi appeared before Vegapunk, lightning crackling around him.
"This is...!" Vegapunk gasped, staring at the man before him. "Shiki, the Golden Lion!"
"Is there a way to extract his Devil Fruit ability?" Arashi asked bluntly.
"Yes," Vegapunk replied without hesitation.
"But his body must be handed over to me for research. I may even be able to create a new artificial body!" he added, his voice tinged with excitement.
"Fine!" Arashi agreed without delay. "I need the power of his Float-Float Fruit. Right now, he's in a semi-dead state. I'm barely keeping his bodily functions active with my ability."
Vegapunk nodded, examining Shiki's body carefully. "Bring me some fruit—lots of it," he instructed.
This task was simple for Arashi. Transforming into lightning, he quickly scoured Sky Island and returned with a basket of fruit, placing it next to Shiki.
"I must inform you," Vegapunk said, "this method is based on certain Devil Fruit transfer principles."
"The process isn't guaranteed to succeed. It's also risky because I lack the time to create a device that can isolate Devil Fruit factors."
"By then, the Float-Float Fruit may have already transferred elsewhere."
"Do it," Arashi said firmly. Life was a gamble, and if he couldn't obtain the Float-Float Fruit, so be it.
After some hesitation, Vegapunk retrieved a vial from his lab and poured it over the fruit. "Now, we wait."
Roughly half an hour later, Shiki's heart stopped beating. Arashi's sensory field expanded again, carefully observing the surroundings. But nothing seemed to happen.
"Did it fail?" Arashi muttered, staring at the unmoving fruit.
The basket of fruit lay there silently, unchanged. Vegapunk appeared unconcerned, continuing to tinker with his equipment.
Suddenly, Arashi's eyes sharpened. He noticed a fluctuation in the magnetic field around Shiki's body—an erratic disturbance that seemed almost alive.
The energy drifted into the air, meandering before converging toward the fruit basket.
In a matter of breaths, Arashi's eyes widened in astonishment. One of the fruits began to change, its surface darkening and forming distinctive cloud-like swirls.
The Float-Float Fruit had successfully transferred.
"It worked!" Arashi's face lit up with a smile. After waiting patiently for several minutes, he confirmed no further changes to the fruit.
With a gesture of his hand and the aid of his electromagnetic field, the newly-formed Devil Fruit flew directly into his palm.
"Oh? So it succeeded?" Vegapunk remarked with a grin. "Your luck isn't too bad." He walked over, inspecting the fruit closely.
"But if you truly intend to eat this fruit and become a dual Devil Fruit user," he began, pausing mid-sentence.
Before Vegapunk could finish, Arashi had already opened his mouth and eaten the newly-formed Float-Float Fruit.
"What was your suggestion?" Arashi asked, swallowing the piece of fruit.
"Never mind!" Vegapunk sighed, watching intently. "Now I'm more curious about what will happen to you."
Throughout history, no confirmed cases existed of someone successfully consuming two Devil Fruits. Yet here was Arashi—a daring man bold enough to try.
Moments later, Arashi's expression contorted in pain.
Then, with a sudden boom, his massive, 3.3-meter-tall body—renowned for its immense strength—exploded before Vegapunk's eyes.
"So it's true. Eating two Devil Fruits causes the body to explode," Vegapunk thought, stunned by the sight.
"Wait!" he exclaimed, his eyes widening. "Arashi?!"
To his astonishment, Arashi's fragmented body didn't vanish entirely.
Instead, it twisted and reassembled, particle by particle, right before his eyes. Within seconds, a fully intact Arashi stood before him once more.
"So it seems ordinary people really can't eat two Devil Fruits," Arashi murmured, brushing off the ordeal.
Vegapunk, however, was frozen in shock. "You... you truly possess immortality!" he stammered.
"Of course," Arashi said with a confident smile.
Since consuming the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, he had survived death before, prompting him to explore the possibility of wielding multiple Devil Fruit abilities.
However, he knew having multiple powers wouldn't dramatically enhance his already-maximized strength.
For someone like him, it simply provided an additional means of attack—a unique ability.
True strength still depended on the individual, a philosophy echoed by Kaido's proclamation that Haki surpasses all.
Ironically, Kaido had said this just before awakening his Mythical Zoan powers.
Arashi had sought the Float-Float Fruit for one main reason: he wanted to create a floating island, a hidden stronghold that would greatly enhance security.
In a flash, he teleported above Upper Yard. Landing on the ground, he decided to test his new power.
Placing both hands on the earth, an unfamiliar sensation coursed through his body. Instantly, he understood the true essence of the Float-Float Fruit.
"Zero gravity," he whispered, a smile forming. "And control!"
With a simple motion of his right hand, the entire island of Upper Yard trembled slightly before returning to stillness.
Yet Arashi knew that the island had shifted by one centimeter in that brief moment—something he could now achieve effortlessly.
With another flick of his fingers, the dust below spiraled upward, rapidly constructing a towering structure.
"Near-perfect control," he mused, marveling at the Fruit's potential.
Later, Arashi returned to his base to bid farewell to Vegapunk.
"Go, go!" Vegapunk said dismissively, waving him off.
"I have too much work to do now! I need to rebuild the Golden Lion as a powerful cyborg. And once Zeus returns, I have to upgrade him too."
Arashi chuckled before departing. In just a few breaths, he arrived aboard a Marine warship where Eveya and others were stationed.
"The casualty report: 11,323 dead," Eveya said, tears streaming down her face. "The remaining survivors are all injured to varying degrees."
The atmosphere was heavy as everyone lowered their heads in solemn silence.
"Thankfully," Bullet added, "the scholars and civilians from Ohara were evacuated a month ago on Capone Bege's suggestion. They managed to avoid this disaster."
Arashi nodded, exhaling deeply. He placed a reassuring hand on Eveya's shoulder.
"The base is gone, but we'll rebuild it," he said firmly. "For the fallen soldiers, ensure their families are well compensated."
He turned to gaze at the distant islands ahead, his eyes filled with resolve.
War was inevitable in this world where individual strength could easily obliterate the weak. Entire bases could be destroyed in a single conflict.
"We'll begin anew on that land," he declared. His voice carried the weight of his resolve.
"You who have endured this calamity must work even harder. Only then will you survive the fiercer battles of the future!"
