Chapter 93: Changes Brought by the Seven Star Sword
"Cry! Cry! Maybe it'll make you feel better!"
Charlotte said lightly, his tone filled with helplessness.
Elena was sobbing in bed, while Charlotte sat beside her, drinking tea and watching her.
After more than three hours of crying, Charlotte was utterly speechless.
Is this woman made of water? he thought. How can she cry for so long without stopping?
It was starting to annoy him.
Bang!
Charlotte slammed the cup in his hand onto the table, making a loud noise.
"How much longer are you going to cry? Aren't you hungry?"
Charlotte turned to look at the curled-up figure under the blanket.
Elena stopped crying immediately at the sound of his anger.
But as soon as she heard his question, her stomach betrayed her with a loud growl.
Gurgle!
Instantly, Elena blushed, hiding further under the blanket.
"Get lost!"
Elena shouted angrily, her voice muffled by the quilt.
Charlotte laughed loudly.
"Hahaha!"
He had clearly heard her stomach growl. Without another word, he stood up and left the room, still chuckling to himself.
In the ship's kitchen, Charlotte prepared some bread, milk, and other simple food before returning to the room.
While doing so, he kept his Observation Haki focused on Elena, ensuring she didn't try anything foolish, like jumping out of the window.
"You must be starving after all that crying and fussing," Charlotte said, placing the bread and milk on the bedside table. "Eat something."
Elena didn't respond, staying silent under the blanket.
"If I hadn't heard your stomach growling, I'd think you'd vanished," Charlotte added sarcastically.
Seeing no reaction from Elena, he sighed.
"Well, even if you don't care about yourself, at least think about the baby you're carrying. No amount of fussing will change what's happened. Face reality sooner rather than later."
He placed the food down and left the room, knowing she wouldn't eat if he stayed.
As soon as the door clicked shut, Elena poked her head out of the blanket, her face tear-streaked and her eyes red and puffy.
After glancing at the door to ensure he was truly gone, she touched her stomach gently, hesitated for a moment, and then reached for the food.
Charlotte, who was monitoring her with Observation Haki, smiled slightly.
Finally, he thought.
Charlotte's top-tier Observation Haki had essentially turned him into a nanny, monitoring Elena's every move for days.
Feeling relieved that she was eating, Charlotte left the cabin and headed out onto the deck.
---
"Boss!"
"Boss!"
Crew members busy working greeted him warmly as he passed.
Charlotte nodded briefly in acknowledgment and walked toward the bow.
Standing there, looking out at the endless sea, Charlotte felt a sudden wave of melancholy.
It's been eight years since I arrived in this world, he thought.
In those eight years, the first five were spent training relentlessly, never allowing himself a moment of rest.
By the fifth year, he joined the Rocks Pirates and began his pirate career. Since then, his life had changed dramatically. He now had five women who deeply loved him, a two-year-old daughter, a one-year-old son, and another baby on the way.
And now, there was Elena, who was carrying another life in her belly.
He had family, strength, and influence.
At just twenty years old, Charlotte had top-tier Observation Haki, advanced Armament Haki, and top-tier Conqueror's Haki. His physique and combat skills were unparalleled, making him one of the strongest in the world of One Piece.
Yet, despite his accomplishments, he felt strangely empty, as though something vital was missing.
Invincible loneliness? he mused. No, that's not it. I'm not invincible.
Charlotte thought of the formidable figures who still loomed large in his world—Rocks, Whitebeard, Shiki the Golden Lion, Sengoku, Garp, and Admiral Kong.
Not to mention Roger and Rayleigh, who were equally powerful.
Charlotte knew he wasn't at their level yet. While he was confident in his ability to protect himself, he couldn't claim invincibility.
Feeling a surge of frustration, Charlotte roared at the sea.
"Ahhh!"
The sound echoed across the waves, startling some of the crew, who exchanged confused glances.
Suddenly, the Seven Star Sword appeared in Charlotte's hand, its blade crackling with green energy.
"Ahaha!"
Charlotte raised the sword high above his head and slashed at the sea.
What followed was a sight that would be etched into the crew's memories forever.
A green sword energy, nearly 100 meters long, erupted from the blade, cutting through the sea with devastating force.
"Gulp."
Everyone watching swallowed hard, their faces pale with awe.
"Boss… the boss has gotten stronger again," Paul murmured, his voice trembling.
Charlotte stared at the sword in his hand, stunned.
How…?
He knew his own strength well, but this was beyond his current capabilities.
Charlotte looked at the Seven Star Sword, its green runes glowing faintly.
"Could it be… you?" he muttered, raising the sword to examine it closely.
Even his Armament Haki had changed. When he activated it, it wasn't the pure black it had been before. Instead, it was now tinged with green, like a faint aura overlaying the black.
Covering his entire body in Armament Haki, Charlotte looked at his reflection in the water and frowned.
He looked like a small green man.
"No way…"
Rushing to find a mirror, Charlotte confirmed his suspicions.
His Armament Haki now had a distinct green hue, a transformation brought about by the Seven Star Sword.
While the change was unsettling, Charlotte couldn't deny the benefits. His Armament Haki felt stronger and more solid than ever, saving him months of training.
The slow progress of Armament Haki had always frustrated him. Unlike Observation Haki, which could be honed through practice and meditation, strengthening Armament Haki required physically exhausting training.
For example, Charlotte had once spent three months on an uninhabited island, smashing through four mountains to refine his Haki.
But now, thanks to the Seven Star Sword, he had achieved similar progress in an instant.
Charlotte stared at his reflection, conflicted.
Damn it… has the Seven Star Sword changed me?
