"Old man Sengoku, I'm heading to Fish-Man Island for a vacation! Don't bother me if it's nothing urgent. Actually, even if it's urgent, don't bother me!"
"Damn it, Wright! What kind of attitude is that? What do you mean 'don't bother you even if it's urgent'!?"
"Ahahaha… Old man Sengoku, I brought along a Transponder Snail with a camera! I'll show you some good stuff later. Bye!"
"Hey, you—!"
"Click."
"That brat!" In the Fleet Admiral's office, Sengoku banged his desk furiously. Turning to Garp, who was casually sipping tea and munching on senbei, he growled, "That Wright! He's saying he's going to Fish-Man Island for a vacation, but I have a feeling it's not that simple!"
"Queen Otohime just left Mary Geoise, and he's heading out right after… A vacation at this exact time? Did he not tell you anything?"
Garp, who had already tossed the G-3 Branch affairs to Rosinante to enjoy his time lazing around at Marine Headquarters, burst into laughter. "Sengoku! That Wright brat has always been a guy with his own ideas. Before leaving the G-3 Branch, he mentioned hearing that Queen Otohime of Fish-Man Island has the ability to see into people's hearts—sound familiar?"
"Seeing into people's hearts… Oh, I see. Wright's Observation Haki has a similar ability. You think he's going to Fish-Man Island to explore his Haki? But even if he's close to Queen Otohime because of his role as a bodyguard—"
Sengoku stroked his beard thoughtfully. "Wright must've realized the intentions of the World Government. He's using this vacation as an excuse to act in a personal capacity to avoid putting us in a difficult position."
"And with his Lightforged Beacon, he can return to Headquarters silently and establish an alibi at any time…" Sengoku's eyes gleamed with approval. "This move is rock solid!"
"Yeah, that brat always has his own plans. Now that he's a Vice Admiral, he has a certain degree of freedom, but his position is still sensitive." Garp slurped his tea, muttering through a mouthful, "Acting personally, not leaving anything incriminating even in the Transponder Snail calls… Hmph, let's see what kind of big stunt he's pulling this time!"
"If he brings back a mermaid girlfriend, I'll even gift him a warship!"
"…"
Sengoku pressed his hand to his forehead—"Garp, is your focus seriously on the right thing!?"
...
Fish-Man Island, located 10,000 meters beneath the sea directly below Mary Geoise, is the only alternative to crossing the Red Line for reaching the New World. It's the birthplace of most Fish-Men and Merfolk, often called an "underwater paradise"—a dreamlike destination.
Wright was traveling aboard a special vacation ship bound for Fish-Man Island. Known as a luxury getaway spot, its exclusivity meant only a select few could visit. Of course, Wright was no ordinary person.
On Fish-Man Island, transportation and facilities utilizing bubble membranes were a common sight. Unlike Sabaody Archipelago, where coating bubbles were used for vehicles, here, sea creatures often powered the systems.
It had been several days since Queen Otohime's return to Fish-Man Island, and she was back in Ryugu Palace. Discussions about her important speech at Gyoncorde Plaza and her campaign to collect signatures for her petition were everywhere.
If Queen Otohime's absence had cast a shadow of unease over the island, her return had reinvigorated the entire community. The atmosphere was brimming with hope.
For a vacation, Wright's first stop was the enchanting, fairy-tale-like Mermaid Cove.
"Ah… This place really is a magical paradise…"
Wearing sunglasses, a brightly colored Hawaiian shirt, and shorts, with a camera-equipped Transponder Snail around his neck, Wright was thoroughly enjoying the picturesque scenery of Mermaid Cove.
"Mermaids… Sigh, the Celestial Dragons truly are a bunch of idiots. How could anyone harm such beautiful creatures? It's unforgivable!"
The beach was dotted with vibrant coral and reefs, while stunning mermaids adorned in colorful accessories frolicked. Their glittering tails shimmered as they swam, played with pets, and dived gracefully into the water.
Splashes and droplets reflected rainbows in the sunlight—a true paradise beneath the sea!
Silently summoning a small orb of Holy Light, Wright muttered as he discreetly applied it to his nose. "Hmm… If Drake were here, he'd probably faint from blood loss."
"Oh my! A handsome human!"
"Such charm~ Care to join us, cutie~?"
"Wow, your finger glows? That's so cool!"
"Oh? You brought a camera-equipped Transponder Snail? How cheeky~"
"Cheeky! Come down here and play with us, and we'll forgive you~!"
"Hey, are you okay, handsome?"
"…"
"It seems Queen Otohime's petition campaign is going well…" Wright thought, his dizziness taking over. "That's why the mermaids are so friendly toward humans…"
"Holy Light… Haha… Betrayed by my own Holy Light…"
The Holy Light at Wright's fingertips dissipated as he fainted, the crimson trickle from his nose staining the sandy shore. His first vacation stop: Game Over.
...
At Coral Hill, Wright was revived through a rather unconventional "Water-Immersion First Aid" administered by the mermaids. It effectively stopped his overwhelming "happiness-induced" dizziness.
Quickly fleeing from the overly enthusiastic mermaids, Wright wandered into a bustling port town—the liveliest part of Fish-Man Island. The streets were filled with shops and local delicacies.
Holding several skewers of takoyaki, Wright's cheeks were stuffed as he strolled. The vendor was an unusual octopus Fish-Man—yes, an octopus Fish-Man! His upper body looked like a young man, while his lower half featured countless tentacles.
"Roshi—" Wright coughed violently. "Ahem, nope, not him."
[TL/N: I don't know who he's talking about here. It maybe Rosinante as the raw has the same character of Rosinante in chinese.]
Though the sight was a bit much for his eyes, the takoyaki was undeniably delicious.
Up ahead stood the famous Mermaid Café. After a moment's thought, Wright decided to step inside. "This place existed ten years ago? Madam Shyarly… At this point, she should still be Miss Shyarly, right?"
As soon as he entered, a familiar mermaid waitress greeted him, her eyes lighting up in surprise.
"Oh! It's you, handsome human~!"
"Ah! It's the human guy from earlier~"
The charming mermaid who had earlier demonstrated her extraordinary mastery of "Water-Immersion First Aid" at Mermaid Cove was now gazing at Wright in surprise—this human guy seemed really interesting!
"Cough... cough, cough..."
Wright's face turned red as he struggled to swallow the takoyaki in his mouth. After an awkward pause, he forced a smile and greeted her, "Hey there! Fancy meeting you again, Miss Mermaid!"
"Hehehe... what an amusing human. Welcome to the Mermaid Café~ Things are a bit busy here today. I'm just helping out as a favor to Miss Shyarly," the mermaid explained with a cheerful grin, noticing Wright's puzzled expression.
"Ah, I see..." Wright nodded in sudden understanding.
"Is Miss Shyarly around? I've heard she's an incredible fortune teller, and I was hoping to have a reading done," Wright asked softly, hoping his tone was polite enough. After all, they could be considered acquaintances... right?
"You know of Miss Shyarly too?" The mermaid puffed up with pride. "Then you've come to the right place! Miss Shyarly is the best fortune teller in the whole ocean! I'll take you to her."
With the mermaid leading the way, Wright soon found himself in the presence of one of Fish-Man Island's most enigmatic figures—the fortune teller whose predictions were said to boast a 100% accuracy rate: Miss Shyarly.
