One Piece: Holy Light Swordmaster

Chapter 14: Chapter 14: A Punch to the Face, and Out Cold

Facing Garp—this true man of action who resorts to fists at the slightest provocation—Wright might have admired him. Yeah, right!

What's with this crazy old man? Does he enjoy bullying kids or something?

Still… this kid isn't your average child!

Wright's eyes narrowed. His blade, Ashes, was drawn, meeting Garp's fist head-on. "I couldn't ask for more! Please guide me, Vice Admiral Garp!"

Golden Armament Haki entwined around Wright's long sword, which had been infused with the power of Holy Light for three years. The blade shimmered with a faint golden glow, looking like a masterpiece forged from pure gold—both stunning and exquisite.

From the moment Wright awakened his Armament Haki, it had been unique. Perhaps due to the synergy between his Haki and his Holy Light abilities, a special effect emerged.

Observation Haki fused with the spiritual properties of Holy Light, granting the derivative ability to perceive emotions and thoughts.

Armament Haki combined with Holy Light's three traits—judgment, protection, and healing—altered its color from black to gold. This endowed Wright's attacks with divine damage, boosted his defense, and enhanced his regenerative abilities.

Now, Wright's Armament Haki could simultaneously provide weaker versions of Seraphim's Holy Seal, Divine Protection, and Eternal Flame effects in any area it covered—without consuming additional Holy Light energy. The Holy Light instead replenished his stamina, ensuring his Haki never ran dry.

Truly terrifying!

Thus—

Clang!

Boom!

Before the Marines on deck could process what was happening, Garp and Wright had exchanged just two sentences before launching into combat! Was this bounty hunter insane? Did he have no idea how monstrous Garp's "Fist of Love" was?

As Wright's blade clashed with Garp's fist, the collision of Armament Haki sent shockwaves rippling outward. The force lifted Marines off their feet and even skewed the giant sails of the warship. Bogard quickly ordered the crew to lower the sails and drop anchor until Garp was done stretching his legs.

"Not bad, kid!" Garp grinned widely. "That golden stuff—is it a Devil Fruit power? Interesting! Guess I'll add more strength!"

Boom!

Wright didn't dare hold back. Activating King's Blessing and Seraphim's Holy Seal at full power, he barely withstood Garp's increasingly heavy blows, golden flames flaring around him.

"So this is the strength of a Marine hero? Armament Haki of unparalleled caliber!" Wright silently marveled at the overwhelming power Garp was unleashing, despite it being only the tip of the iceberg. To protect himself, Wright activated Divine Protection, reinforcing his defenses to prevent his arms and body from breaking under the immense pressure. Golden mist swirled around him—after all, even while taking a beating, a leading man must keep up appearances!

"He's actually holding his own against Vice Admiral Garp's punches, even after Garp ramped up the power... Looks like the title of 'Strongest Bounty Hunter in the East Blue' is well-earned." Bogard's Justice Coat flapped in the shockwaves, but he stood firm. "And that golden energy... Is it a Devil Fruit ability? But it feels so much like Armament Haki. There's no way he could block Garp's punches without using Haki. Could it be a fusion of Devil Fruit powers and Haki?"

Unaware that someone had already pieced together much of the truth, Wright struggled to fend off Garp's relentless punches. Before long, he was on the verge of collapse. "So this is the strength of a top-tier powerhouse? Even someone like Shanks would be reduced to taking a beating!"

"That's why I said I should bide my time, yet here I am, facing Garp the boss so soon. What rotten luck!"

"Impressive, kid! At your age, there are few in the Grand Line who could take a punch from me!" Garp's grin turned increasingly maniacal. "But you've only got one sword—I've got two fists!"

Wright's face paled. Before he could curse Garp, another Haki-coated fist appeared before him.

"Not the face!"

That was Wright's last coherent thought before passing out. His previous thought? "This shameless old geezer!"

"Vice Admiral Garp, you've damaged the deck again." Bogard sighed, shaking his head at the sight of the large hole in the deck and the unconscious Wright, who'd been sent flying into the ship's interior by a single punch. With a resigned expression, he directed the Marines to haul Wright back up and repair the damage.

"That kid held out against your punches for so long. You didn't kill him, did you?"

"Hahaha! Rare to find a brat who piques my interest! I might've gone a bit hard, but he's not dead," Garp said, scratching his head. "This kid, with his skills at such a young age, in the East Blue no less, wants to join the Navy but hesitates? Now that I've found him, I'm taking him to headquarters! With monstrous talent like his, he could become a key figure in the Navy's future!"

"Indeed. Wright's talent is frightening. He's akin to Whitebeard's ship doctor, Marco—or perhaps even stronger, considering his balanced abilities in attack, defense, and healing." Bogard paused, his ever-neutral expression softening slightly. "There are also rumors that he can discern good and evil in people's hearts, possibly due to a unique form of Observation Haki."

"The Dawn Healer, they call him—merciless to evil pirates, yet like the light of dawn to ordinary folk. He heals anyone with sincerity in their hearts, regardless of status, and doesn't charge a single Berry. Supposedly, his dream is 'world peace.'"

"Oh?" Garp's playful demeanor turned serious. Sitting back in his chair, he instinctively reached for his senbei but found the pouch empty. "At his age, with such a dream and his deeds to back it up, it doesn't sound like empty talk. Do we know his background?"

"According to our reports, Wright is the second son of a noble family in the Goa Kingdom. Disliking the politics of nobility, he took to art and, more importantly, swordsmanship. After reaching a basic level of mastery, he secretly left home to train at a dojo. Three years ago, he made his debut by saving an entire ship from poisoning, earning the nickname Healer through word of mouth. Since then, he's traveled the East Blue as a bounty hunter, building quite a reputation."

"So he's from my hometown?" Garp bellowed with laughter. "The more I hear, the more I like this kid! To have such principles in this era of rampant piracy—he's a born Marine!"

"As I said, his talent would be wasted in the East Blue. From what I've seen, he's outgrown this sea entirely. Only the Grand Line can provide the challenges he needs to grow further."

"Haha! My grandson should aim to be just like Wright! I'll raise Luffy to be a Marine with a heart full of justice!"
