Chapter 13: Aftermath!
Chapter 13: Aftermath!
Soon after Ken left, the high-ranking members had finally reached the location where the explosion took place twice.
Not understanding what had happened here, they just thought one of the bastards had walked on a trap or something, but when they looked at the ruins that were once stairs that led to the top, their hearts burned with anger.
"BASTARDS!" Finally understanding that whoever founded this place had deliberately exploded it so they won't be able to get up, and this could also mean that the best items this cave has couldn't be obtained by them.
"What do we do now? The captain won't be pleased if he hears of this." One of the high-ranking men said, his body almost trembling while imagining the captain's wrath.
"Don't tell him." Another one replied.
"But—" Taro tried to reject this idea as it could prove to be deadly.
"Don't tell him." The man insisted. As risky as not telling the captain that they failed to gain the best treasures this island has, if he were to actually know...
The consequences were fearsome enough to make these men, who could slice through a sea of trees as easily as slicing through butter, shiver in fear.
-------
Meanwhile the source of all of this was sailing the sea at speeds that surpassed human common sense.
If any pirate were to look at him, they would only see a trail of water and some object rapidly flying by.
But this part of the sea rarely had any daring crews and most of them were very strong with huge ships.
To sail this sea was a mission of high difficulty and that is why Ken wouldn't have dared to travel with any boat other than this one.
Luckily he found it and now he was heading towards an island that's normally called the Pirate Haven.
The reason behind this name was because this was one of the hidden islands where pirates could find some peace of mind, rest, sell their treasures, exchange information, and even take on missions thrown by a pirate alliance that only existed in limited places such as this.
It took Ken a full 14 days to reach the island, and by the time he had done so, only around 30% of his resources were left.
Had he spent another week, he would have had to stop and start fishing, which could spell his doom because of the sea kings living rampantly in this sea.
Thankfully that didn't happen and now he has finally reached his destination.
Sighing in relief, Ken got off his boat, which he had obviously landed in a safe place that he deduced after circling around the island for a few hours.
How was he not found out by the pirates on the island? It has to be known that the boat he got wasn't simple and aside from the high-speed mode, there were other modes, and one of them was what Ken liked to call ghost mode.
It was silent to an eerie level where not a single drop of water moved from its place as if the boat was a spirit floating on the sea.
The boat was shaped like a star; its color was white with a long bed-like door. Beneath it was the place where Ken had spent two weeks.
There was a wheel, an accelerator, and a table with all kinds of buttons.
The most useful one by far was the automatic driver mode and it was so advanced that Ken only had to put the log pose in a specific place on the same table and he rested on his comfortable bed.
If he wasn't eating, he was training; if he wasn't training, he was meditating, and if he was doing none, he was resting.
This was his daily routine and by the time he had reached the island, his strength had once again multiplied from before.
He discovered one other function of his own fruit, and it seemed more like something he made with his own effort than something he had inherited from the fruit.
It was an ability to project his imagination.
His brain ran on overload and he could use that same ability to project an image; that image could be anything from an item to a human body and in this case it was himself.
It had to be said that he was never so familiar with his own body, but with the fruit's ability, nobody knew his capabilities more than himself.
Projecting his own image forward and fighting it allowed him to reach even higher heights, discovering his own flaws like there was tomorrow. He had a goal of reaching a complete state where he removed all flaws but it proved more difficult than he imagined.
This all happened in a span of 2 weeks, which once again went to prove the talent of this man whose life was filled with hardships.
His journey had yet to even start and he was speedrunning his training arc, which took other protagonists years of childhood.
This wasn't all, as he had other thoughts when it came to his ability. He was brainstorming ways to better use it, but even if he had the image, it was very difficult to actually do it.
For now, he had a goal of evolving the image projection to a higher level, but no matter how hard he tried, he seemed to make no progress.
But this allowed him to know what he lacked most.
Ken looked at the island that was inconspicuous, looking like any piece of land on the ocean with nothing but trees and grass, but he knew that somewhere within it, there was a secret entrance to the Pirate Haven.
And that's where he will accumulate it.
"Experience..."
