One Piece: My Name is Jack, I'm Very Resistant to Beating

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Pirates! Let the Slaughter Begin!

Jack's question hung unanswered in the air as his gaze shifted toward the battlefield.

At some point, the other had joined the fray, turning the fight into a chaotic three-way melee. The scene was a mess. Many of Jack's subordinates had sustained various degrees of injuries. Some of the younger, less experienced crewmates now lay on the ground, just like Pub had earlier.

Rim had already dealt with the burly bald man and was now locked in a standoff with a guard wielding a massive greatsword. Judging by the look on Rim's face, this new opponent wasn't an easy mark.

That greatsword, though...

Jack's eyes lowered to the elderly man standing before him. Barely over five feet tall, the man gripped a colossal, broad-bladed sword that stretched more than six feet long. For a fleeting moment, the sight reminded Jack of construction workers he'd seen in his previous life on TV, humorously carrying tools far bigger than themselves.

"Hey! Rim! Holdem! Stand down!" Jack's voice boomed across the battlefield.

"Beasts Pirates, fall back to the Mammoth!"

With a single command, Jack's crew swiftly retreated, leaving the Chicken pirates no reason to pursue. Buck, rallied his dwindling comrades, pulling them back to regroup at the edge of the fray.

As Rim and the others boarded the ship, Jack turned back to the old man and asked in a low, measured voice:

"Old man, what's the meaning of this?"

"We came here to save you, and this is how you repay us? Not very hospitable, is it?"

The elder raised his head, scrutinizing Jack before his gaze fell on the rapier still embedded in Jack's shoulder.

"Hmph! Beasts Pirates? Saving us?" the old man spat. "If it weren't for the weapons you pirates supplied, our nations wouldn't be locked in endless war! You're worse than the marauding pirates—more venomous, more insidious! How many warriors, how many innocent lives have been lost because of you?"

The man's voice rose with fury, and his grip on the greatsword tightened.

"Renske is my territory! You and your kind have no right to desecrate it! Since you've come here, don't expect to leave alive. Draw your weapon, subordinate of Kaido!"

Jack's face remained impassive as he stared at the enraged elder. With a grunt, he wrenched the rapier from his shoulder and tossed it to the ground. Leaning his massive kanabō against the earth, he replied calmly:

"First off, old man, this here is a kanabō, not a sword. I don't use blades."

"Second, the name's Jack. Not Kaido's lackey, just Jack. Remember it."

"Third, whether or not the Beasts Pirates supplied your weapons, your nations would still fight. Human greed knows no bounds. Take yourself, for instance—calling this port your territory? What are you, some kind of mafia boss?"

Jack leaned in slightly, his tone growing sharper.

"And lastly, don't mistake civility for weakness. Hand over the ones who killed my men, or none of you will leave here alive."

Before the elder could respond, Jack pointed his kanabō at a young man in the distance, also wielding a greatsword.

"That one—he must be your son, right? I saw him kill two of my crewmates. He's not walking away from this."

The elder's expression darkened instantly. His lean frame suddenly began to swell, muscles bulging as his height surged past ten feet. In mere moments, the frail old man had transformed into a towering, muscle-bound giant. His clothes shredded under the strain, and his voice thundered with rage as he charged toward Jack.

"Damn, what is this?" Jack muttered, stepping back with a grunt as his kanabō met the greatsword mid-swing. The sheer force of the clash sent him skidding backward, but Jack used the momentum to leap onto the Mammoth's deck.

"Bring the ship closer!" he roared.

The colossal Mammoth surged forward, causing Rim to glance at the port in confusion.

"How is this going to work?" he muttered.

"Holdem, show them your skills! Move us forward by fifty centimeters!" Jack ordered.

Holdem hesitated. "That's… cutting it close. Maybe we should just push it manually."

Jack returned to the deck, muttering under his breath. The battle's intensity had triggered his system to grant a reward, automatically selected due to his prolonged indecision. High-level Armament Haki. While undeniably powerful, it wasn't the prize he'd been hoping for. Jack yearned for advanced Observation Haki, a skill that had eluded him despite his efforts.

Still, with both his Armament Haki and swordsmanship advancing to new heights, Jack's confidence surged. Channeling his newfound strength, he transformed into his full mammoth form and charged back into the chaos.

"Elephant Stomp!" he bellowed.

The ground beneath him shattered like brittle sand, sending shockwaves that flattened anyone in their path. The once-raging elder, Lauren, stumbled and fell, while Jack rampaged through the densest cluster of enemies, striking terror into their hearts.

"Elephant Stomp!"

"Monster! We can't beat him! Run!"

When Jack finally reverted to human form, the battlefield was unrecognizable. The port lay in ruins, its trees withered, its buildings toppled. The ground itself seemed parched and lifeless, as if a desert had swallowed it whole.

"What have you done?" he whispered.

The guards and pirates alike were scattered, too drained to continue. Those who had survived Jack's onslaught cowered, staring at him with a mix of fear and hatred. Then, a new group arrived—villagers armed with makeshift weapons, many of them crafted from the Beasts Pirates' own stockpile.

Jack's blood simmered as he met their vengeful glares. Slowly, he closed his eyes. The primal rage within him surged, a force he no longer sought to suppress.

When his eyes opened again, they glowed with bloodlust.

"Pirates! Let the slaughter begin!" Jack roared. "Anyone who dares oppose us—kill them all! Let my name—Jack—echo across the Grand Line!"
