A few days later, the Heat-Heat Fruit was sent to the New World. After being chosen by the two vice commanders, it was finally given to Andre, who gained its abilities.
In a short time, Andre, who had already reached the rank of elite Vice Admiral, saw his strength improve further.
However, despite his potential, Andre's limit remained at the level of an elite Vice Admiral. Even though the Heat-Heat Fruit has significant power, his overall strength wouldn't surpass that level.
Even so, Raphael, the commander of the Flame Legion, couldn't help but feel envious.
He already knew what the Heat-Heat Fruit could do. While it couldn't produce flames, it could generate temperatures of tens of thousands of degrees, making it extremely useful for someone in the Flame Legion.
However, the message Arthur gave him helped calm his jealousy. Raphael decided to keep waiting for the Devil Fruit that Arthur had specifically prepared for him.
Meanwhile, on Rusukaina Island, Arthur was still training. He had been practicing on the fifth rocky mountain for two months now.
One afternoon, in a small room on the island, a tough but unattractive man with high cheekbones stood there, looking uneasy.
"What's going on here?! Those angels captured me—what do they want from me?" muttered Gasparde, clearly nervous and confused.
Gasparde, a former Marine who had betrayed the organization, was known for his cautious nature. He had survived until now by staying under the radar, with a bounty of only about 100 million berries. He rarely left Hannabal Island, which had kept him safe for years.
He was sure he hadn't offended anyone connected to the angels. So why had they captured him? The situation didn't make sense to him.
Crunch!
Just as Gasparde was fretting, the door creaked open.
When he saw who entered, his expression changed drastically. "King Arthur?! This… this can't be!"
Gasparde's face paled. The man standing before him, practically a legend, left him in disbelief.
"W-What do you want with me? Why did you capture me?" Gasparde stammered, his voice trembling. He could tell this wasn't going to end well.
Arthur smirked. "Hmm… Your Devil Fruit is interesting. Too bad it's wasted on someone like you."
Before Gasparde could react, Arthur struck him on the forehead, instantly killing him.
After Gasparde fell lifeless to the ground, Nojiko stepped forward, raising her hand.
"Black Hole Pull!"
Inky black clouds surrounded Gasparde's body, and after a moment, Nojiko retrieved the abilities of the Dark-Dark Fruit.
"Freed!"
As a small plume of black smoke rose, a green Devil Fruit materialized and dropped to the ground.
Arthur picked it up and looked at it with a mix of emotions. "The Soft Candy Fruit… It's actually pretty good, but it's a shame the one who ate it was so useless."
This fruit was a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit introduced earlier, but since its user was weak and unimpressive, most people forgot about it.
However, after seeing the incredible potential of the Mochi-Mochi Fruit, Arthur couldn't help but think about what could be achieved with the Soft Candy Fruit.
Similar to the Mochi-Mochi Fruit, the Soft Candy Fruit is a special Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that shares characteristics with Logia types. Its main drawback is that if its user is coated in powder, their physical body becomes vulnerable to attacks.
But wasn't Crocodile, the Sand-Sand Fruit user, the same? He was soaked with water by Luffy and ended up losing miserably.
Despite this limitation, the Soft Candy Fruit functions much like a Logia-type fruit in its elemental abilities. If developed to an awakened state, it could rival Logia Devil Fruits in power and versatility.
Even though this fruit has great potential, Arthur decided not to give it to anyone in his family. The simple reason was that, at the moment, he didn't have any family members around to inherit it.
Wanting to make the best use of the fruit, Arthur considered giving it to one of the legion commanders. However, after thinking it over, he couldn't find a suitable candidate for it.
After collecting his fourth Devil Fruit, Arthur felt satisfied and in high spirits.
For now, he set the matter aside and spent time resting with Boa Hancock and Nojiko, who were helping him with daily life on the island.
The next morning, Arthur resumed his training.
Although training was the goal he had set for himself from the start, Arthur couldn't deny that it had become tiresome. Over a year had passed, and five mountains still stood before him, challenging him.
If it weren't for his commitment to growing stronger, Arthur might have considered giving up.
The process of strengthening his abilities was slow and dull, but Arthur had endured far worse over the years. He remained determined to see it through.
After another week of effort, Arthur finally reached the one-week break in his second month of training.
During this time, several more Devil Fruit users were defeated, and their fruits were successfully collected.
These characters didn't play major roles in the original story, but their Devil Fruits still have potential worth considering.
One example is the Wool-Wool Fruit from Clockwork Island Adventure, featured in a movie. Then there's the Steel Fruit, which also appeared in the same movie.
Although the Steel Fruit has some limitations—like only being able to partially transform the body into steel—it still allows for high-temperature attacks. This makes it a surprisingly good Devil Fruit!
Another example is the Sound-Sound Fruit, which also appeared in a movie.
This fruit has incredible potential. Sound waves are essentially vibrations, and vibrations generate sound. Because of this, the fruit has a wide range of applications.
It can even fire attacks like laser cannons or sonic blasts through roaring. If someone powerful—like a giant such as Oars—ate the Sound-Sound Fruit, they could become a walking weapon capable of destroying entire islands.
Now imagine someone like Sanjuan Wolf, the colossal battleship-sized member of Blackbeard's crew, eating this fruit. If he used it, he could easily annihilate an island in one shot.
In addition to the Steel Fruit and Sound-Sound Fruit, there's another fascinating fruit: the Rubik's Cube Fruit.
This fruit, also introduced in a movie, is far from weak. Its powers allow the user to manipulate the ground by turning it into cubes. These blocks can be moved freely on the ground or in the air, and the fruit can even compress air into cube-shaped forms.
To understand the potential of compressed air, look no further than Bartholomew Kuma, one of the Shichibukai. On the battlefield at Marineford, Kuma compressed a large amount of air into a small paw-shaped bubble. When it exploded, it knocked out Little Oars Jr., causing devastating damage.
If developed properly, the Rubik's Cube Fruit (Kyubu Kyubu no Mi) might be able to achieve a similar effect, making it incredibly powerful.
Aside from these three fruits, there's another lesser-known one: the Scythe-Scythe Fruit.
This fruit was eaten by Eric, a mercenary who worked with the Marines in an attempt to steal the bones of the Thousand-Year Dragon. While it appeared early in the series, it remains an interesting fruit with good combat applications.
After collecting these five Devil Fruits, Arthur didn't keep them for himself. Instead, he sent them back to Skypiea for safekeeping.
The legion commanders were allowed to choose which fruits to eat based on their abilities and preferences. There was no rush to distribute them, as there was still time to gather more Devil Fruits.
For now, Arthur's focus shifted to the New World.
This time, he was heading there to help Raphael acquire a Devil Fruit of his own.
