One Piece: The Deadly

Chapter 48: Kikidori Vs 5 Old Men

The Straw Hats docked their ship at an unassuming island, intending to restock supplies and gather information. Kikidori, ever the curious and reckless one, wandered off on his own while the rest of the crew split up to explore.

"I'll just take a quick look around," Kikidori said to no one in particular, hands resting casually behind his head.

Meanwhile, Nami noticed something unsettling. Standing in the center of the town square were five men cloaked in an aura of power and authority. The 5 Elders.

Her blood turned cold. "Oh no," she whispered, eyes wide. "Why are they here?!"

As if fate was playing a cruel joke, Kikidori strolled directly toward them, completely unaware of who they were.

"Excuse me, kid," one of the elders said, his voice low and commanding.

Kikidori blinked at them and tilted his head. "Who are you supposed to be?"

Nami sprinted toward him. "Kikidori! Don't—"

But it was too late. Kikidori's sharp tongue kicked in before Nami could stop him.

"What's so bad about five old guys hanging out in public?" Kikidori said loudly, his tone dripping with casual disrespect.

The square fell silent. The townspeople froze in place, their eyes darting between Kikidori and the Elders. Even the wind seemed to still.

Nami's jaw dropped. "He's going to die," she muttered, slowly backing away.

The 5 Elders exchanged glances, their expressions unreadable.

"You've got guts, kid," one of them said, his voice carrying an ominous edge.

"No," Nami whispered, spinning around and running back toward the Sunny.

---

By the time she reached the ship, Nami was frantically dialing the Den Den Mushi. The snail's receiver picked up, and the calm but annoyed voice of Trafalgar Law greeted her.

"What now?"

"Law, I need you to come pick up Kikidori," Nami said, not even bothering with pleasantries.

There was a long pause on the other end. "...Why?"

"Because he just insulted the 5 Elders."

Law sighed audibly. "Why does this not surprise me?"

"Look, I don't care what you do with him," Nami said quickly, her voice panicked. "Just take him off our hands for a while. A year or two sounds great."

"Don't you think that's a bit excessive?" Law asked dryly.

"No," Nami replied without hesitation.

Law sighed again, clearly regretting every decision that had led to this moment. "Fine. Where are you?"

"I'll send you the coordinates," Nami said before slamming the receiver down.

---

Back in the town square, Kikidori stood in the same spot, completely oblivious to the rising tension around him. The Elders hadn't moved yet, but their collective aura was suffocating.

"Kid," one of them said, stepping forward. "Do you know who we are?"

Kikidori shrugged. "Nope. Should I?"

The crowd gasped collectively, and several people fainted from the sheer audacity of his words.

"We are the World Government's highest authority," the Elder said. "The fact that you're still alive right now is a miracle."

"Oh," Kikidori said, scratching his head. "That sounds important. But you still look like a bunch of grandpas to me."

The Elder's eyebrow twitched.

Before anything could escalate further, a familiar submarine emerged near the docks. The Polar Tang's hatch opened, and Law stepped out, his expression a mix of irritation and resignation.

"What did I just get myself into?" he muttered.

Law made his way to the square, ignoring the whispers and stares from the townspeople.

"Kikidori," he said flatly, grabbing the boy by the back of his shirt.

"Captain Law!" Kikidori exclaimed, grinning. "What are you doing here?"

"Saving your life," Law said bluntly, dragging him away from the Elders without another word.

---

Back on the Polar Tang, Kikidori pouted as Law steered the sub away from the island.

"Why'd you pull me out? I could've handled them!" Kikidori said, crossing his arms.

"You're an idiot," Law replied.

"Hey! That's not nice."

"It's accurate," Law shot back, sighing. "You're lucky they didn't kill you on the spot."

Kikidori blinked. "They could've done that?"

"Yes," Law said, exasperated. "And they still might if you don't keep your mouth shut."

Kikidori was silent for a moment before a mischievous grin spread across his face. "So… does this mean I'm part of the Heart Pirates again?"

Law glared at him. "No. It means I'm babysitting you because your crew can't handle you anymore."

Kikidori didn't seem to mind. "Cool! Babysitting means you're like my temporary dad, right?"

Law groaned, already regretting his decision.
