Chapter 76: G-5
The Marines led by Captain Markus touched down on the Island base G-5, a base known for its more than aggressive Marines.
And the man greeting them was none other than Vice Admiral Doberman, who had been stationed there for some time.
" Vice Admiral Doberman. It's a pleasure to see you." Markus told the man.
" The pleasure is all mine, Captain. What brings you to G-5?"
" My men need a moment to rest and stretch their legs. Plus, I thought it'd be nice to see and old face." Markus told the man.
" Of course, but they might not be getting as much rest as you might hope." Doberman said to the man.
" What do you mean?"
" The pirates have been getting rowdy in the area, lately. Vice Admiral Sakazuki was dispatched to deal with some of the more aggressive pirates personally."
" Wait, Sakazuki's here?"
" For the time being."
" Oh great. Well, then let me see if I can't lighten the load on your people. Let's step inside, you can fill me in."
Doberman led Markus inside the base, and immediately he noticed how the men of G-5 carried themselves. Most of them were messy and unkempt. A far different image than that of Doberman or Markus himself.
Doberman led Markus inside his office where Vice Admiral Sakazuki was waiting for the older man.
Sakazuki had his hood up, and sat with his arms crossed and head down, that is until Markus and Doberman walked in.
He looked up from his arms at the two men and became visibly upset upon seeing Markus.
"Hm?!"
" Sorry, for keeping you waiting, Sakazuki. I've invited Captain Markus in joining us." Doberman told the man.
" What are you doing here, Captain?" Sakazuki asked the man.
" My men needed a chance to rest. So, I've come to G-5 to give them a slight reprieve. However, I heard there's some problems that need to be taken care of, therefore I've offered Vice Admiral Doberman my assistance." Markus explained.
" Hm." Sakazuki just groaned in response. " Very well. Doberman, about what we were talking about before."
" Ah, yes."
" Now, then, as I was telling you about earlier, we have a problem with some of the pirates in the area."
" What's wrong?"
" Well, we've had quite a few big names roaming the area recently." Doberman explained.
" Oh yeah? Like who?" Markus asked.
" The Beast Pirates, The Big Mom pirates, The Gecko Pirates, and even some allies of the Whitebeard pirates." Doberman spoke.
His list of pirates was a long list of very formidable foes. It was understandable to Markus, now, why Sakazuki was sent to G-5.
" I see. That is quite troublesome. So, the question is are the big guys sticking around, or are we talking about their allies? Those are two very different things, Doberman. I hardly doubt Big Mom or Kaido is going to show themselves just because some of their allies got taken out. Whitebeard, I can understand." Markus spoke.
" It isn't a matter of them showing up, but more of a question on whether or not if their appearance in such a frequency is a coincidence or not." Doberman explained.
" Well, I can keep an eye out for them, while we travel. We haven't gotten anything better to do. So, thinning the numbers down shouldn't be a problem." Markus told the man. " What about Sakazuki?"
" I'll handle it."
" Well, then it's settled. Let's go take care of business. After, a quick rest." Markus stated. " Now, Doberman, show me to the mess hall. I'm starving."
...............
" Ugh! It feels like a canon went off on my face." Garis groaned.
" Well, you shouldn't have gone and challenged the captain like that." Russ told the boy.
" Yeah, but I need to get the hang of this haki crap. I can't figure it out."
" Well, it's gonna take time."
" Time and patience. Something you tend to lack." Hakoda, popped up from behind Garis and patted the young man on his head.
" Oh, fuck you."
" Hey! Language."
" Whatever. What's the captain doing right now?"
" Speaking with Vice Admiral Doberman, and Vice Admiral Sakazuki." Hakoda stated.
" Oh man, Vice Admiral Sakazuki's here? That blows."
" What you still upset about getting kicked out of his unit?" Hakoda asked the man.
" Come on, man. Why'd ya have ta go and bring up old memories like that?"
" What, you were the one moaning about it. I merely asked."
" I knooooow!" Garis groaned. He held his head back in annoyance and breathed a heavy sigh. "
At that moment, Vice Admiral Doberman and Captain Markus walked into the mess hall. And upon seeing his men, Markus walked over to the trio.
" Yo, Garis. How are you feeling?"
" I still got a headache, ya jerk!"
" Yahahahahaha! Man, you gotta learn to keep your guard up." Markus joked.
" What's going on, Captain. How long are we going to be here?" Hakoda asked the man.
" Well, not long. We've got new a new agenda."
Garis, upon hearing that, sat up and looked at his captain.
" Oh yeah? And what's that?"
Markus gave a great big smile.
" We're going pirate hunting." Markus could tell by the looks on the men's faces that they were confused.
" Aren't... Aren't we already doing that?" Hakoda asked.
" Yeah, but we're going to step things up a bit. See there's been sightings of some big-time pirates in the area. And G-5 is getting a little overwhelmed with all of them. So, along with Vice Admiral Sakazuki, we're going to trim the numbers in this area a bit." Markus explained. " You guys ready?"
" Heh! Whenever you are, Captain!"
" Certainly."
" Of course, sir."
" Heh! Alright! We've got a goal now! We've got our targets! The Big Mom Pirates! The Beast Pirates! The Gecko Pirates! And the WHITEBEARD PIRATES! Everyone let's get ready for war!"
" HOOOOOOOAH!"
* DOOM!
