The electronic hum of the system echoed in Roja's mind as his feet landed on the Holy Land of Marie Joa.
The fruit's ability aligned perfectly with Roja's wishes.
However, he had no intention of eating it just yet.
As he strolled through the Holy Land of Marie Joa, Roja searched for a potential spot to check in. But all he encountered along the way were flames and chaos.
Some slaves, desperate to survive, framed their fellow captives just to buy them a few moments of escape.
Others, unable to free themselves from the explosive collars around their necks, turned their fury on those who managed to break free, going on violent rampages.
Even with bloodshot eyes, one of them saw Roja, cloaked in shadow, and rushed toward him.
Roja swiftly drew his sword, and the man fell, slain in an instant.
Such scenes repeated themselves as Roja continued walking.
Roja was no longer in the mood for a leisurely stroll through the Holy Land. Just as he was about to leave, a heavy, unmasked footstep echoed from behind.
The sound was unmistakably deliberate, not trying to hide at all.
Slowly, Roja turned. Amidst the firelight, a red fishman with thick, curly hair and a wide mouth dashed toward him.
Roja's eyes narrowed slightly.
The fishman was clearly gravely injured. His body was riddled with wounds, blood oozing from each one.
If not for his fishman biology, Roja thought, the man would have already been dead.
The fishman spotted Roja. Though he couldn't place him, he knew one thing: anyone not wearing a white cloak and mask could be trusted, for now.
Enduring intense pain, Fisher Tiger gritted his teeth and shouted, "Hey! You, there! Run! Behind me, they're after me—the ones with masks!"
Fisher Tiger's pursuers were undoubtedly CP0 agents.
Instantly, Roja deduced the identity of the injured man before him.
But Fisher Tiger, despite his state, didn't slow down and was growing more desperate.
"Didn't you hear me?! Run!!" Fisher Tiger shouted again, but blood spurted from his mouth as he spoke. His body dragged itself forward, worsening his condition.
Yet, despite everything, he continued urging Roja to escape. It was clear that Fisher Tiger's will was as strong as his body was broken.
At that moment, five figures cloaked in white robes and masks appeared behind him.
"No matter who you are," one of the CP0 agents declared, "anyone who causes trouble in the Holy Land of Mariejoia will die!"
Fisher Tiger's heart sank. He hadn't expected CP0 to arrive so quickly.
Grinding his teeth, he turned to Roja, determination in his eyes.
Then, without warning, he turned and positioned himself in front of Roja, protecting him.
"I'm at my limit," Fisher Tiger said, voice strained. "I'll hold them off. You need to get out of here—run!"
Fisher Tiger shouted the last part with every ounce of strength left in his body.
Roja, still calm, gave him a grin. "You're quite the hero, but I'm not one to hide behind others."
Before Fisher Tiger could respond, Roja blurred into motion, rushing past him.
Fisher Tiger's eyes widened in disbelief.
He wanted to warn Roja about the strength of the five opponents, but his throat was choked by blood. All he could do was cough harder, causing more blood to spill from his mouth.
Fisher Tiger could barely comprehend what was happening. He had no doubt that no one could face down five CP0 agents alone.
Then, in the blink of an eye, a blaze of flames erupted from Roja's sword.
The flames engulfed the sky, surging out from his blade with blinding force.
In one swift slash, the five powerful CP0 agents were obliterated in an instant.
Fisher Tiger's mind struggled to grasp what had just happened. How was this possible? Who was this man, and how was he so powerful?
Still in shock, Fisher Tiger watched as Roja calmly sheathed his sword and approached him.
To Roja, it seemed like the five CP0 agents were nothing more than weaklings, defeated in a heartbeat.
Regaining his composure, Fisher Tiger swallowed the blood in his mouth and whispered, "Thank you…"
"Don't mention it," Roja replied, nonchalantly. "I'm just passing through."
Without another word, Roja bent down and hoisted Fisher Tiger onto his shoulders.
"Put me down… I'm just a burden," Fisher Tiger muttered weakly.
"Don't say that" Roja replied firmly. "I'll take you somewhere safe."
Carrying the heavily injured fishman, Roja headed toward a nearby mansion, one that wasn't yet fully consumed by flames.
He kicked the door open and entered, carefully lowering Fisher Tiger onto the floor.
Using the available materials in the room, Roja quickly fashioned a makeshift bandage to staunch the bleeding.
"Rest here for a while. You'll be fine as long as I'm here," Roja reassured him.
Fisher Tiger felt a warmth in his chest from the words.
But just as he was about to thank Roja, a sudden noise broke the moment.
Fisher Tiger's instincts flared. His body tensed as he prepared for whatever was coming next.
Roja, recognizing the danger, gave him a reassuring look before moving toward the basement entrance.
The path to the basement was pitch-black, but Roja calmly unsheathed his sword.
With a flick of his thumb, a small flame erupted from the blade, illuminating the dark corridor ahead.
The noise grew louder as he descended. It sounded like the voice of a girl…
