Open a Clinic to Cultivate Myself

Chapter 47

Chapter 47 Level One Alert

Ning Tao settled into the nursing home. In the day, he studied the chapter of elixirs in the nameless medical book, and at night he used the key of the clinic and the blood lock painted on the back of the bedside table to return to the Sky Clinic for spiritual power cultivation. He had to hurry, as the date of his first payment for the Sky Clinic was getting closer. By then the good and evil energy in the good-evil tripod would be weakened, so he had to make the alchemy fire and Primary Elixirs before that, or he would be in danger.

Chen Jun and his disciples had multiple consultations, examinations, and tests on Lin Qinghua’s condition. However, the shadow that hung over Chen Jun and his disciples grew heavier. They had done the physical examinations that were supposed to be done and had the discussions that they were supposed to have, but they hadn’t even figured out the cause of Lin Qinghua’s illness, let alone come up with an effective treatment plan.

Three days passed quickly.

Lin Qingyu, Jiang Hao and Ning Tao were sitting at a stone table in the yard drinking tea.

Lin Qingyu took a look at her watch and announced, “There are only 20 minutes left. Doctor Ning, it’s your turn in 20 minutes. I can’t wait.”

“No hurry,” Ning Tao said. “Let them continue for a while. They won’t get a different result in 20 minutes.”

Jiang Hao looked a little worried. “Chen Jun is a famous doctor in Beidu, and his disciples are all experts with great medical skills. If they don’t make any progress for three days, I’m worried about you…”

Ning Tao smiled and asked, “Are you worried that I can’t cure Lin Qinghua?”

“No, that’s not what I’m worried about. I’m just worried that you don’t give yourself enough time,” Jiang Hao replied. “Three hours is too short. You’re not going to talk about it again, or you give Liang Keming and Chen Jun ammunition.”

Lin Qingyu gave Ning Tao a sweet smile and said, “Don’t worry, Doctor Ning, I believe you. I’ll give you my brother, and you simply should treat him boldly.”

Jiang Hao’s eyes fall on Lin Qingyu’s face. The expression on her face suggested that she was in a bad mood.

Just then Liang Keming came over and greeted far away, “Hello, Doctor Ning, Miss Jiang, Miss Lin. Am I disturbing you?”

Lin Qingyu and Jiang Hao just looked at Liang Keming and didn’t answer him.

“Academician Liang, you’re here for the good news, right?” Ning Tao inquired. “Chief Chen and his disciples will be out soon.”

“I hope they’ve come up with a treatment plan,” Liang Keming uttered with a smile on his face. “Otherwise, it will be up to Doctor Ning to do it.”

The door of the ward suddenly opened, and a group of doctors led by Chen Jun came out of the ward. Everyone’s faces drooped, as if there was a cloud of sadness hanging over the team.

Liang Keming immediately came to them and asked, “Chief Chen, how’s it?”

Chen Jun stopped with a serious look on his face. “We tentatively diagnose Lin Qinghua’s illness as paranoia, and it’s a new type. Lin Qinghua put himself into the role of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang. Such paranoia is rare. I suggest that the patient should be transferred to our hospital for treatment. He needs systematic psychiatric treatment. Days or even months of treatment don’t work.”

Liang Keming turned his eyes to Ning Tao and asked, “Doctor Ning, what do you think?”

Ning Tao got up and responded, “I don’t judge other people’s diagnoses, I just tell you what I think.”

“Humph!” Chen Jun snorted coldly. “Then tell us what you think!”

“Lin Qinghua’s illness does seem paranoid,” stated Ning Tao lightly, “but how do you explain his wasting away? Also, he’s crazy, but his mind isn’t out of whack, and he hasn’t put himself in other’s place. If he suffers from the paranoia of role substitution, he will substitute himself into other roles due to the change of environment and thinking. So why does he only think himself as the specific role, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang all the time? Who has ever seen a stable paranoia patient?”

Chen Jun couldn’t be more sullen, but he was at a loss to retort Ning Tao. In fact, this diagnosis was made when he was unable to identify Lin Qinghua’s illness. After all, three days had passed, and if he didn’t even have a rough diagnosis, it wouldn’t make sense as far as he was concerned, and he would be embarrassed.

“Who are you? How dare you speak to my teacher like that!” One of Chen Jun’s disciples scolded Ning Tao with a scowl.

“If you think you can cure the sick, just go to see the patient,” taunted another disciple. “How dare you a quack say that to my teacher? I really have no idea why you had the courage!”

Ning Tao did not argue with Chen Jun’s disciples. How could he low himself to debate with Chen Jun’s disciples when he didn’t even think much of Chen Jun?

Jiang Hao couldn’t stay calm like Ning Tao, and she shot back, “How dare you be so rude! Watch your mouth!”

The rest of Chen Jun’s disciples were about to say more, but Chen Jun gave them a scolding and they all shut up.

“All right, all right, you’re all experts in different fields, and I can’t judge which of you is more reasonable. Well, Doctor Ning, you go diagnose Lin Qinghua. Didn’t you say you only needed three hours? You go for it, I hope you get a better result,” stated Liang Keming.

However, before Ning Tao could say anything, Jiang Hao uttered, “How can three hours be enough? They spent three days, and Doctor Ning will have three days too.”

“He said he only needed three hours,” Chen Jun barked. “No one forced him to say that. If he asks for three days now, isn’t that tantamount to licking the spit back?”

“You!” Jiang Hao was furious.

“Doctor Ning, why don’t you also set a deadline of three days to complete this task?” advised Liang Keming. “Three hours is too short. I don’t believe you can give a reliable diagnosis, let alone a viable treatment plan.”

“I won’t have a diagnosis, let alone a treatment plan,” claimed Ning Tao.

Liang Keming froze on the spot. He didn’t expect Ning Tao to say that.

Chen Jun sneered, “What do you mean, boy? Are you afraid?”

“Didn’t I make myself clear?” Ning Tao queried lightly. “I said I wouldn’t have a diagnosis, let alone a treatment plan. That’s because if I go in, I’ll cure Lin Qinghua. Why should I give a diagnosis and a treatment plan when I can cure him?”

“Great!” Liang Keming laughed. “I like guys with guts. Tell us, how long will it take to prove that what you’ve said is true?”

“I said I only need three hours before, so I only need three hours,” Ning Tao pronounced.

Jiang Hao kept winking at Ning Tao, but he pretended not to see her, which made her want to put her hand over his mouth to stop him from saying that.

“You said that, and nobody forced you!” Chen Jun seemed worried that Ning Tao would back out, so he immediately said these words.

But Ning Tao ignored Chen Jun and said to Jiang Hao, “Miss Jiang, I’ll bring Lin Qinghua to my room for treatment in a minute. I hope you guard the door for me. Please don’t allow anyone, including you and Miss Lin, to come in and disturb me during the treatment. Is that okay?”

Jiang Hao agreed without hesitation. The request didn’t seem strange to her because it wasn’t the first time she’d accepted this kind of request from Ning Tao.

“Can’t I go in, either, Doctor Ning?” Lin Qingyu asked.

Ning Tao shook his head and said, “I’ve made it very clear. No.”

Lin Qingyu’s eyes were full of disappointment, but she still wanted to fight for it. However, as she saw Jiang Hao looking at her with strange eyes, she immediately gave up the idea.

Then Ning Tao walked over to Lin Qinghua’s room.

“A quack pretends to be a miracle doctor! Aren’t you supposed to swindle money out of people on the street? Aren’t you ashamed to come here and pretend to be a miracle doctor?” One of Chen Jun’s disciples scoffed.

“If he can cure that patient in three hours, I’ll go home and farm and never be a doctor again!” Another disciple even made such a bet just to satirize Ning Tao.

“Three hours will soon pass, and I’ll see what excuse he’ll use when his story is publicly exposed.”

“He will certainly continue to brag. Isn’t that what he does as a quack?”

This time Chen Jun did not stop his disciples, but pleased to hear these words.

Liang Keming pretended not to hear. Could Ning Tao cure Lin Qinghua in three hours? He didn’t even think about it because he didn’t believe Ning Tao could do it. If Ning Tao failed, he would take Lin Qinghua back to Beidu and work on the drug and the mysterious material of the project of ancestor seeking! By then without Jiang Hao, Chen Jun, or Ning Tao, all the credit would go to him!

No one knew what was going on inside Liang Keming’s head. Under everyone’s gaze, Ning Tao held the anesthetized Lin Qinghua in his arms and walked to his room. As a man over 1.7 meters tall, Lin Qinghua now weighed less than 50 kilograms. He was so skinny that one might wonder if he would be blown down by the wind.

“Qinghua…” At the sight of Lin Qinghua’s haggard face, Lin Qingyu felt sad in her heart and tears rolled out of her eyes uncontrollably.

Ning Tao stopped for a moment, looked at Lin Qingyu and comforted, “Believe me, I will cure your brother.”

For an instant Lin Qingyu’s heart seemed to be knocked by something soft. She nodded, the tears running faster.

Ning Tao carried Lin Qinghua into his room and closed the door.

Lin Qingyu wiped the tears at the corner of her eyes with the back of her hand, but the scene when Ning Tao stopped to talk to her just now lingered in her mind like a brand.

Chen Jun’s disciples rushed to Ning Tao’s door.

“I want to see how he treats Lin Qinghua. I’ve seen many cheaters, but this is the first time I’ve seen such a confident cheater.”

“The fact that he doesn’t allow anyone to enter the room must be because he’s up to something dark.”

“How can we listen to him? Who does he think he is? This is not his place!”

In the midst of the gossip, Chen Jun’s disciples soon arrived at Ning Tao’s door.

“Stop!” Jiang Hao thundered.

Chen Jun’s disciples all looked back at Jiang Hao.

Jiang Hao strode to Ning Tao’s door, reaching toward her waist, and then a pistol appeared in her hand. “Level one alert! I have the authority to shoot. I have warned you, so don’t blame me for shooting if any of you dare come near.”

She held the cold pistol and spoke these words in a cold voice.

Now Chen Jun’s disciples dared not go any closer to Ning Tao’s door.
