Otaku Witch

Chapter 5: 5. Witches' Specialty Store

One had to admit that the witch's physique was indeed impressive. Mere moments after suffering from severe teleportation sickness, Dorothy had fully recovered. She lifted her head and glanced at the surroundings, which looked completely different from the port area just before, a hint of nostalgia flickered in her eyes.

Ah, these familiar tall buildings, this all-too-familiar concrete jungle, still the same formula, still the same flavor.

Although this is a world where Magic flourished fantastically, when technology and Magic evolved to their extremes, they essentially converged into one. Not to mention, the level of Magic in the Witch World was much higher than the level of technology back in her previous life.

Thus, this world is not the typical backward Medieval setting one might imagine; on the contrary, it resembled the future world seen in sci-fi movies.

Almost everything from her previous world had a magical equivalent here, even some sci-fi concepts that were still theoretical back home had become everyday necessities in this world.

Dorothy was quite satisfied with this, even though, as a transmigrator, she lost the advantage of showing off and face-slapping with knowledge from her past life; at least she didn't have to endure the awkward days without refrigerators, air conditioning, or even toilet paper, where one had to resort to bamboo strips, right?

Dorothy looked up at the sky, at the towering skyscrapers hundreds of meters high, somewhat obscured by misty clouds, making it difficult to see their peaks. These buildings, constructed by mages from the Civil Engineering Series, had a much higher quality than those from her previous life, incredibly sturdy, theoretically as long as there was enough Magic Power, a Sky Tower could be built for you.

Between the skyscrapers, various Magic-conjured phantom advertisements flickered on and off, radiant in myriad colors — much prettier than neon lights. Occasionally, some youngsters were seen zooming through these phantom adverts on brooms, although the thrill-seeking boys and girls were often chased by Law Enforcers through the streets. Nevertheless, they seemed to enjoy the chase even more, leaving behind only cheers and laughter echoing between the buildings.

"Today's headline, our Sea Moon Society has reached strategic cooperation goals with the neighboring Dawn Society. Both cities will engage in deeper cooperation on the automated Magic Puppet project, during which, as a derivative of the project, mechanical prosthetics are expected to become more affordable."

".....Gaia, a well-known building Guild, has announced it will launch a batch of new sky islands at the end of this month, the sky islands utilize..... those interested, please stay tuned."

"Yesterday, the well-known Magic Web's young scholar, the Witch of the Forest, released a brand new Witch's Spell. This marks the third Spell released this year by this mysterious young Spell Master. Let us congratulate our talented fellow, and long may Magic prosper...."

While walking towards the Witches' Specialty Store at their destination, the two sisters casually browsed the various phantom advertisements and news around them, when they suddenly heard a familiar name spoken by the witch host on the virtual screen, Dorothy instantly felt a tingling sensation, slightly uneasy.

"What's wrong, sister?"

Alice, who was keenly aware of her sister's discomfort, asked with concern. However, the blonde beauty had also heard the news spoken by the beautiful witch host on the Magic Screen at the store's entrance and immediately realized.

"Oh, so Lady Witch has released a new Spell, that's great. I'm going to order it right now; what about you, sis? Aren't you also a die-hard fan of hers? I remember you have collected every Spell from this series."

The little witch excitedly pulled out a girlish pink Spellbook from her waistbag, then swiftly logged onto the Magic Network. She skillfully entered the Witch Forum, navigated to the Magic Web Library, found the newly recommended Spell on the library's homepage, and finally placed her order to download.

For every Transcendent, a Spellbook is an essential item. It serves not only as an aid in casting Spells but also as an indispensable tool similar to the phones and computers from Dorothy's previous life, necessary for work, study, and entertainment.

The Magic Network was super fast, and the small spell downloaded almost instantly. As the download completed, a brand new page gradually emerged in Alice's magic book.

"Let's see, Witch's Monkey Wine Transformation Spell, quite the weird name as always, but it's actually a high-level transformation spell, pretty impressive. Such high quality, and the price is so affordable, Witch of the Forest, yyds."

Alice's eyes sparkled as she spoke, the little witch quite excited, looking much like a little fan proud of her idol. However, she soon turned around, gazed at her sister beside her, and sighed.

"Ah, we're both new generation witches, but why is there such a big gap between one witch and another?"

"It sounds like you're asking for a spanking, Alice."

A tic-tac-toe symbol popped up on Dorothy's forehead as she stretched out her hand and delivered a Strong Hand Skull Split at her sister.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch, sister, I was wrong. You, Lady Witch, are truly yyds."

.........

Between the sisterly squabble, they had unknowingly arrived at their destination, standing before the dazzling magic billboard "Witches' Specialty Store" on the building. They walked inside.

Well, calling it a store is a bit of an understatement; it was more like a gigantic mall, since witches need so many different things, from basic items like magic robes, magic wands, and magic books, to casting materials from the Nine Great Magic Schools, adventure gear like alchemical tools and magic potions, etc...

Such complex requirements obviously couldn't be met by just one shop. Therefore, while it was called a Witches' Specialty Store, it was actually a mall composed of numerous merchants working together.

Similar establishments were quite common in this world, like the various Magic Markets that other races' Transcendents loved to visit. However, shopping in those chaotic Magic Markets was a test of the buyer's judgment. One could easily be duped into buying counterfeit goods, but with some luck, one could find treasures.

However, the Witches' Specialty Store was different. The merchants that could set up shop here were all time-honored brands, well-known in their respective industries for reliability and capability. Hence, the items sold here were comparatively high-end.

Though the prices were indeed a bit steep, making other races' Transcendents grimace, it was not much of an issue for the main clientele of the Witches' Specialty Store. After all, making money was pretty simple for witches, who were almost universally wealthy.

Yeah, if you think the merchandise is expensive, that's more a problem with you as a customer, not the merchandise.

But, being universally wealthy was mostly an adult witch matter. As an underage witch, Dorothy seldom visited the Witches' Specialty Store. She preferred to hunt for bargains at the standard Magic Markets, as saving every penny for her dream house was her goal.

However, since her mother had just given her some funds and she would be joining the Witch Academy tomorrow, she could afford to be a bit extravagant today and live up to her witch status at the academy.
