Chapter 31: Revelation
He smiled, and wiped his lips with a napkin, before he stood up. Anna sat back on her seat, unsure of what he was doing.
He walked some steps to the door, and turned around. "Are you coming?" She nodded, drowned her glass of water, and wiped her mouth, before standing up.
They walked out of the house in silence, the only sounds came from her heels, clicking on the ground She was tempted to ask where they were going, but kept her mouth shut. She loved surprises anyway.
They walked out of the house and through a lone path, the moon peeped from sailing clouds, now and then from the dark sky. Thick patches of overgrown grasses whipped her skin as she followed behind, struggling to keep up. She heard roaring sounds ahead and her heart kept raced.
Soon, they came to a clearing, Anna realizing now, that the estate was not far from the beach. Truce kept walking, without turning to look at her. The wind ruffled his hair like it was in a fight. Anna was astonished at the sight of the raging oasis, as she slowed her pace, creating a distance between them.
She removed her 4" silver heels and planted her feet on the cold, damp earth, the sand tingling under her feet. She loved the feel of the wind on her skin, and the soothing melody of the surf. This was a good place to run from the world and it's problems.
Truce turned back, staring at her, like she was a stranger. He could've sworn that she was Miriam. Keeping her till he'd cleansed her blood felt very far away... and hard work. He walked back to where she stood, and took her now cold hands. He said quietly after a while, staring at her.
"What do you want to know about me?" He asked, as Anna struggled to move her hair from her face, tying it into a bun at the back.
"Everything?"
"You're asking for a hard thing, Lady Ruby. You're not going to believe me." He said, rubbing her hands in his.
"You're not going to eat me, right? If not, I can take whatever you say." she said, causing Truce to chuckle; a deep, warm and rich sound. She bowed as her heart skipped a beat. "I've never heard you laugh before." She said innocently, and he raised her head up with his index finger, staring intently at her.
"I'm Avidon, crown prince of Valdi. My history is long." "Crown prince? Waw!"
"Do you believe that?" She nodded slowly
He does look like a prince, and acts like one as well. "Tell me about your parents?"
He heaved a deep sigh, circling his arms around her, and pulling her to close. The feel of his hands about her, unnerved her, as strange sensations rose from her core, to her breasts, and down to her legs.
"My dad, eh... He's the king, and he loves his subjects. I'm not really close to him to know what he likes and doesn't."
"And your mom?" "She's the most beautiful in Valdi. I got my powers from her. Should I tell you a secret?" He said suddenly, like a mischievous child. She nodded.
"My mother is the only person in Valdi, who can bring the king to his knees." He whispered in her ears and she giggled at that. Talk about the powers of a woman.
They continued to stare at each other, the heat they felt inside them kept increasing. "Have you been married before?" Anna asked from nowhere, and he froze. "Yes, yes I was."
He said, counting his words. Anna felt like she stepped on holy grounds there. She hesitated. "What was she like?" She asked after a while, circling her arms round his shoulders.
"It was a long time ago, Anna. I dan't remember what she looked like anymore. But I do remember, she was clingy, and clumsy as well. She sang so beautifully too." His eyes were dreamy as he talked about Miriam, and Anna's heart broke.
"Was she from Valdi?" "No, from a remote village in England." There was a small pause. "Mister Truce? How'd you know Chole–was more than fifty?" He smiled at her charming questions.
"She knows alot, like someone who has lived for centuries. I've done my research, but I'm waiting for her to manifest them... Any more questions mademoiselle?" He asked this time, gazing at her full lips, she blushed. "How old are you?" She asked as he inched close to her face.
"A few thousand..." He didn't let her express her surprise, before he grazed his lips on hers, and she gasped, her lips parted slightly, as her legs turned jelly underneath her immediately, she held him for support.
He drew back a little, looking into her eyes. "If I begin this now, I won't be able to stop, Anna." He whispered in her mouth, his breath was hot in hers.
Don't stop, she screamed in her mind but she kept staring into his eyes. He looked like he was having trouble, keeping his hands still. He pasted a small kiss on her lips again, and drew away from her, as if drugged.
He took her hands in his, holding it tightly. "Let's get you warm, lady Ruby." He said, pulling her towards the house.
They bade goodnight, Truce went upstairs to his room, and she left for hers.
After showering, she turned off the lights and laid down on her bed to sleep. Just then, she felt a presence. Assuming it was Mister Truce, she smiled, sitting up in the bed with excitement. Maybe he wants to start and not stop?
Before she knew what was happening, a hand clamped down on her from behind, forcing a cloth over her mouth. A searing pain shot from her abdomen, radiating through her body like wildfire, as the assailant stabbed her, then disappeared through the wall, leaving Anna in a pool of her own blood.
