Fuck...
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck...
Zeus had been droning on and on and on for days on end now, and for fucks sake, I was going to break my promise at this rate.
I really needed to get out of here, it was already 4 in the morning and in two hours, he would probably be awake.
I needed to get home before then.
Thankfully though, it seemed like Hestia, Hephaestus, and Artemis had noticed the way my eyes continued to dart between Zeus' ugly visage and the watch on my hand, and I could tell that they had been trying to steer the meeting to a close as subtly as they possibly could.
As each minute passed, rather than time seeming to slow due to the nerves, times seemed to speed up, faster than I could perceive as soon, it was already 5:30.
'Thirty minutes left... please...'
Yes.
I, Aphrodite, the whoring Goddess of Love, was this desperate to go back to her domain.
All because of a man, a similar product to things I had played with and enjoyed for millennia.
Yet, even Artemis herself had to admit that I had been acting like a true maiden for the past few years, and had realized the urgency of my situation from just the way I was acting alone.
I had fallen so deeply that nothing else really did seem to matter much to me, even that, I could tell.
I just wanted to hold him on this special day for him.
To cuddle with him by the fireplace.
To whisper sweet sayings into his ear as we exchanged flirtatious actions.
To allow him to experience something that he had never experienced before in his life.
Love, affection... and family, on a Christmas morning.
That alone would make me happier than I had ever been in my life.
Did I continuously worry about whether I really could provide such feelings to him?
Yes.
But was I also confident in the fact that he loved me, and that that alone probably checked all the boxes.
Also yes.
Thus, if only I could keep this promise.
So that I could pay him back, and then he'd have to pay me back.
If only this cycle could continue on for an eternity.
...
'Go, I'll cover for you.'
Hearing these words in my mind, I didn't even spare a glance at the speaker and flashed from my throne immediately after sending a quick thanks to their mind.
I'd owe her one, and that'd be a pain, but this was far more important than a favor to Artemis could ever be.
'5:59...'
Instant transportation did have its perks though and I found myself on the snow covered front porch of our house, my hand rising to ring the doorbell.
What girlfriend wouldn't like to be greeted by the face of their partner opening the door for them after a long day of work?
Yet, before my hand could push the button for the doorbell, the door opened, and there he stood.
"I must have the wrong house." I said, eliciting a chuckle from him.
We continued to stand there, our breaths creating wisps of condensation that were quickly whisked away be the frosty breeze.
"I'm your partner, no?"
Smiles blossomed on both our faces as we soon leaned in and hugged each other, melting into the others embrace.
To me, I was once again engulfed in the familiar scent of vanilla that seemed to permeate his existence, whilst he must've been losing himself in the scent of sandalwood that wafted off my own body.
What can I say, I was a good partner, and when he had said that I looked better natural, I had forgone all the makeup and beauty products, opting only for the basics (which he had, surprisingly, taken to too).
We just stayed like that for a few moments, as I recharged myself by taking some Shalomacetamol.
"Let's head inside."
He blushed, seeing as to how he had kept me out in the open in clothes that clearly were not meant for such cold weather.
Stepping aside, he naturally took my coat and closed the door for me as I took off my cardigan and placed it on our coat rack.
"You want some Folgers?"
We had walked to the kitchen at this point, with me having nestled myself somewhat precariously atop the countertop.
"Sure."
He moved to start brewing the coffee as a comfortable silence descended upon us, one that I eventually broke,
"I've gotten you a present."
"Don't we already have presents for each other under the tree?" He replied, a small bit of confusion flickering in his eyes.
"Consider this an apology, for almost missing today."
Materializing a small box from thin air, I deftly passed it to him, an action to which he only smiled.
Gurgle gurgle-
The water started to boil, yet he took no note of it as all his attention was focused on the little box that he held in his hands.
He surprised me though, as he took off the stick-on ribbon that had been atop the box and instead, pressed it to my shirt.
"W-What are you doing?"
A blush quickly consumed my face, as I myself was feining for a response.
"You're my present this year."
...
My blush could only deepen as I began to lean down from atop the counter.
He moved, tilting his head up to meet me in the middle.
Our lips soon converged after that.
