"We've arrived!"
Ikki was pulled out of his thoughts by the driver's announcement. He had been so absorbed in them that he hadn't noticed the taxi had arrived in front of the building that was his and his mother's home.
After handing the fare to the driver, he grabbed his suitcases and got out of the car. Standing on the sidewalk, he glanced at the taxi driving away before looking at the street.
The surroundings of his home were still quiet, with only a few people walking on the sidewalks and even fewer vehicles moving along his street.
He then looked at the five-story building where he had lived since his birth, and a small smile appeared on his lips. The last time he had been home was during Christmas, a few months ago, so he really missed his kind mother.
Pushing the nostalgic memories of that Christmas out of his mind, when he and his mother had spent the holiday in a house by the beach, he picked up his suitcases and walked toward the building. Once inside, he took the elevator to the top floor. As soon as he exited the elevator, he walked to the door of the apartment where he and his mother lived.
Ikki stopped in front of the door and took the apartment key from his jeans pocket. Over the years, after he grew older, his mother started working, and it was currently her working hours; that's why she wasn't home.
He looked at the key and sighed lightly. Although he didn't need a job, as the apartments on the first four floors were rented, and the rent money was enough for them to have a good life, his mother still chose to get a job.
In fact, she had always enjoyed working. She had only stopped when she had him because she wanted to take care of him on her own; to be present during his growth. She said that was much more important than her previous job as a movie actress. Though a small gesture, it showed the immense motherly love she had, and a small smile appeared on his lips when he thought about it, just like every time he thought about something related to his mother.
His mother was his hero, and easily the most important person in his life.
He was willing to do anything to make her happy.
Ikki used the key to open the apartment door and entered. The first thing he did was take his suitcases to his room. His room had changed compared to the one he had in his childhood; it now had a double bed, a wardrobe — with a full-length mirror in the middle — and a desk with some books.
He unpacked his bags, and as soon as he finished, he grabbed his towel and went to take a shower.
After his shower, Ikki stepped out of the bathroom with only a towel wrapped around his waist, covering the lower part of his body, just above his knees. He stopped in front of the mirror on his wardrobe and looked at his reflection.
His body was the definition of perfection. His muscles seemed to have been sculpted by the creator's brush to embody the epitome of a male body. They not only looked extraordinarily splendid, perfect, and refined, but they also held the power of the peak — this was the most perfect form of a warrior.
Sighing at his muscular appearance, achieved through body refinement via Qi, he began to dress slowly. He put on a boxer brief, black sweatpants, a dark blue long-sleeve shirt that clung to his body — you could see the contours of his muscles — and then a black hoodie.
After finishing getting dressed, he sat on his bed and glanced at the clock on the small table full of books. It was only ten in the morning, and his mother would be home around eleven-thirty, so he had some time.
Ikki sat on the bed, crossed his legs in a lotus position, and closed his eyes, beginning to refine his body with the [Book of Genesis], as always. He could feel that soon there would be a qualitative change in his body...
After an hour and a half, he stopped refining his body and opened his eyes.
He raised his hand and clenched his fist, feeling the power. Part of him felt relieved and confident that he could fight against the Deities of this world who could throw mountains and flood the entire planet. He even remembered that the book once mentioned that Hera could cause a supernova from a distance in her rage. Furthermore, Artemis could create a new constellation with her weakened power; they were quite strong.
However, he wasn't afraid to face any of them with his current power; he now had the ability to protect those he loved...
At that moment, the sound of the apartment door opening reached his ears. Knowing it was his mother, a smile appeared on his lips before he got up from his bed and left his room, heading to meet the most important person in his life.
Reaching the entrance of his home, he looked at his mother with soft eyes. She hadn't changed at all in recent years; she still looked young and beautiful. She was wearing a simple but lovely outfit and carrying a purse.
She had just closed the apartment door, and when she turned to enter, she saw him approaching. Despite knowing he would come today and noticing the door was unlocked, she was still pleasantly surprised.
"Mom, welcome back. How are you?" Ikki said with a smile on his lips.
"Ikki!..." His mother, who hadn't seen him in months, approached him and hugged him without thinking twice, saying lovingly and surprised, "My god, you've grown since the last time I saw you..."
He hugged her back, missing her dearly. When they pulled away from the hug, his mother bombarded him with questions joyfully.
"How have you been? How was school? Did you enjoy studying there? Made many friends..."
"Calm down, mom. I'm fine, school was kind of fun, and I liked studying there. As for friends, I only have one new friend."
"Really? Tell me more... I want all the details!" At the end of her words, his mother pulled him into another hug while saying, "I missed you so much..."
"I missed you too..." Ikki said gently, hugging her again.
"Come on, you must be hungry. I'll make lunch..." His mother said, heading to the kitchen.
Ikki calmly followed her, although he didn't need to eat to survive, he still did, since it was one of life's pleasures. Not to mention, his mother was the best cook in the world.
When his mother reached the kitchen, she began preparing several dishes for lunch. While she did this, they talked about various things, catching up.
Once his mother finished making lunch, they sat at the table and ate. After they were done, his mother began preparing some cookies, and Ikki sat on the living room sofa to watch TV.
While he watched TV, his mother from the kitchen casually asked him a few things.
"I said I wanted details. How was school?"
"Well, it was an environment full of horny boys and girls. All kept in a room listening to lessons and taking tests to become someone in life. In other words, it was just like always, normal," Ikki responded calmly.
"Your answer perfectly sums up school..."
She laughed before coming out of the kitchen with a tray of freshly baked cookies in hand.
"I saw your report card..."
"What did you think?" Ikki stopped watching TV and asked, looking at her as she placed the tray of cookies on the table in front of him.
"As expected of my son, my little prodigy..." His mother said with a gentle smile, sitting next to him and pulling him into a half-hug to kiss his cheek.
"Mom, could you stop treating me like a kid?" Ikki grumbled. His mother had always been like that, although he didn't mind much, it still bothered him a little.
He could officially be twelve years old, but if you counted the time from his past life, he'd be older.
"No way. You're my baby, and I'll only treat you like an adult when you bring a daughter-in-law home..." His mother said, still hugging him. At the end of her words, a small teasing smile could be seen on her lips.
"I'm twelve years old; I'm too young to date," Ikki muttered. As for not being treated like a kid anymore, forget it. He didn't want to date or even pursue a girl just to stop being treated like one. That was something he wasn't going to invest in during this new life...
"Hehehe..." His mother laughed, her eyes gleaming mischievously as she proclaimed, "Then I'll keep treating you like my baby."
He sighed because he had already realized his mother's trap. She had noticed the slight discomfort he felt being treated like a child and mentioned that he had to get a daughter-in-law first to be treated like an adult. It was a trap; his mother was as crafty as an old fox.
If he said he would find a girlfriend or refused in some way, she would win that little exchange. In fact, his mother really wanted him to get a girlfriend. She wanted him to have a happy life, and according to her, love brought the utmost happiness — no matter the situation, she won.
In his past life, though, while she also wanted that, it wasn't to this extent...
"Fine, I won't complain anymore," Ikki said a little grumpily.
His mother pinched his cheeks, and while smiling, she said, "You may be twelve, but you look older. And I know that with your looks inherited from me and your father, I'm sure I won't lack for a daughter-in-law. In fact, I'm sure women will fall all over you, so you won't have to wait long to be treated like an adult by me, no need to sulk..."
"Do you want me to get a daughter-in-law to kick me out of the house or something?" Ikki said oddly. His mother really had valid arguments, but with her fixation on him finding a girlfriend, it made it seem like she wanted to get rid of him as soon as possible.
"Far from it, silly. Even though you're destined for great things, I don't want you to suffer to achieve them. What mother would want to see her son suffering? I just want you to be happy..." His mother said, gently running her warm hand through his long black hair in a loving manner.
Her heart trembled with pain. Since having her son, she had a feeling he was destined for great things, but to achieve them, he would have to go through something she couldn't even imagine. Just the thought of seeing her son suffer brought her unbearable anguish and pain. Forget about him doing anything exceptional, as long as he could live a carefree and happy life, she would be extremely satisfied!
Ikki was slightly surprised by his mother's words, feeling his heart warm with a comforting sensation. He smiled and said softly,
"Don't worry, mom. I know that, I was just joking with you..."
"You brat!" His mother huffed — this only showed how similar they were.
After they pulled away from the hug, they sat in comfortable silence, watching TV.
Ikki took a cookie and ate it slowly, savoring the delicious treat his mother had made. She really was the best cook in the world.
"How's Percy?" His mother suddenly asked.
"He's fine. Just a little stressed, but fine..."
"Stressed?" His mother questioned, looking at him curiously.
"You know, he has to go back to his house, where his stepfather, Gabe, lives. The guy who always abused him, right? Isn't it strange he's stressed?"
Ikki said calmly, hiding the part of his friend's stress that had to do with the supernatural world.
And he wasn't lying, Percy really did hate his stepfather, who was truly despicable. There was a time in his childhood when that fat walrus tried to ask for money from him and his friend when Sally and his mother weren't with them. Let's just say what happened next wasn't good for Gabe.
After he and his friend gave the money and went to Percy's room, he told his friend he was going to the bathroom and would be right back.
Of course, he didn't go to the bathroom, he just walked silently behind Gabe, who was standing and drinking, and without hesitation, he kicked that fat man in the groin with enough force to leave him impotent for the rest of his life. His kick was also too quick for any human to notice, and he made sure that fat man would never lay a hand on his friend's mother again.
The pain from the kick was so intense that Gabe fainted instantly, and when his mother and Sally returned and saw him lying on the floor, they called an ambulance. After all the confusion of discovering that the fat walrus had been left impotent, the days continued as usual.
But from that day on, whenever Gabe the eunuch asked for money or was rude to Sally, something painful and bizarre would happen to him, to the point where he started to fear the very idea of doing anything bad to Percy and Sally. Of course, all the incidents that happened to him were Ikki's doing, but no one needed to know.
"Although I still can't get used to the idea of my friend being with a man like that, I think I understand her reasons." His mother hummed with a slight frown on her face.
The two continued talking until the tray of cookies was finished. His mother took it and carried it to the kitchen.
At that exact moment, Ikki looked at the apartment door as if expecting something, and a second later, the door opened, and Grover entered, almost out of breath. He wasn't surprised by the sudden appearance of his only other friend.
However, he was curious about something and asked, "Grover? Why are you here?"
Grover caught his breath and said urgently,
"You and Percy... are in danger!..."
