Chapter 62: Signing In to Battle Pike!
The issue with Edna and Jonathan was successfully resolved by Ash and May, and the two kept the matter a secret. Besides Pikachu, Squirtle, Pidgeot, and Feraligatr, no one else knew about it.
Changing the past had also altered the present.
Katrina's grandmother, Edna and Jonathan were now an elderly couple who had been living together for decades. After saying their goodbyes at the Pokémon Center, Ash and his friends set off for the nearby Battle Pike Zone, famous for its unique battlefield that incorporated actual flowing water pipes..
However, because May wanted to take Ralts and Eevee to see the ocean, everyone decided to head to the beach for a bit of relaxation. The beach was one of Misty's favorite places, and the group eagerly embraced the opportunity to unwind.
The sea breeze gently blew past as the sun shone down on the sandy shores. Everyone released their Pokémon to let them enjoy some free time. Even Mewtwo joined them. Apart from the Pokémon that were afraid of water, the rest played and relaxed in the sea, enjoying this rare moment of peace.
Ash's Kirlia and May's Ralts danced together, entertaining everyone with their graceful moves. Meanwhile, Ash and Pikachu approached Mewtwo.
"How are you feeling these days, Mewtwo?" Ash asked.
"Hm... I've never experienced a life like this before. Also, the power I used yesterday to take you all through time... even I can't fully understand it. I wonder what kind of force that was," Mewtwo replied, still contemplating the time-traveling powers activated by the mysterious necklace.
"Well, if you can't figure it out, just let it go! We should focus on enjoying the good things in life, right, Pikachu?" Ash said with a grin.
"Pika-pika!" Pikachu chirped in agreement.
"Pikachu, from now on, you need to take the lead and help everyone interact more with Mewtwo, okay?" Ash suggested.
"Pika!" Pikachu nodded enthusiastically.
"Hm. Ash, those two Psychic-type Pokémon of yours—I can help train them. At the very least, I can guide them in mastering Psychic-type moves," Mewtwo offered.
Ash was naturally thrilled by the offer. With Mewtwo's guidance, Kirlia and Ralts would surely grow stronger.
Ash suddenly remembered his plan to find the Old Gastly from the Maiden's Peak.
"Mewtwo, I might need your help soon. Haha, I plan to find a thousand-year-old Gastly and use its power to help my Haunter evolve," Ash explained, sharing the details about Haunter's restricted potential and the legend of the Ancient Gastly.
Mewtwo seemed intrigued by the idea.
"Hm... that sounds interesting. A thousand-year-old Gastly? I'm looking forward to seeing that!"
After resting at the beach for a while, the group resumed their journey to the Battle Pike. Upon arriving, they saw Scott waiting at the entrance as usual.
At the same time, Ash heard a notification from the system:
Ding! Congratulations, host! You've successfully arrived at the Battle Pike. Signing in...

The Light Ball was immediately useful for Pikachu, doubling the power of all its attacks. Ash discreetly retrieved the Light Ball from his system storage and applied it to Pikachu.
"Pika?" Pikachu tilted its head in confusion, feeling its power surge all of a sudden.
"Alright, Ash," Scott said, motioning to the door. "This is the Battle Pike Zone. These young ladies are the apprentices of the Frontier Brain here and will guide you to your challenge."
"Today is our day off!" complained a chatty girl named Barbara. "If Mr. Scott hadn't notified us personally, we wouldn't have opened the doors for you!"
"Enough, Barbara," another voice interrupted. "I've told you many times to be respectful to our guests."
The doors to the Battle Pike opened, and a tall, elegant woman with long hair stepped out. Brock, the moment he saw her, was instantly smitten and dashed toward her with hearts in his eyes!
