"Cerulean City is ahead. Prepare for landing, Charizard."

As the outline of the city came into view, Tyson couldn't help but feel a surge of anticipation.

Charizard had been close to the elite level before evolving. After two days of intensive training and fine-tuning its abilities, Charizard was now just one step away from breaking through to the elite tier. A little more time for stabilization, and Charizard would soon ascend to the next stage.

Tyson's other Pokémon were progressing similarly. Eevee was also on the verge of reaching the next level, while Kadabra wasn't far behind, rapidly closing in on that same milestone.

With this strength, Tyson felt confident in taking on the Cerulean City Gym. Despite Charizard's natural disadvantage against Water-type Pokémon, Tyson was determined to claim the Cascade Badge. If needed, he could even push Charizard or Eevee to evolve or level up during the battle itself—a calculated move that only a skilled trainer like Tyson could manage with precision.

For most trainers, such advancements depended on luck or timing, but Tyson had mastered a system that allowed him to control these breakthroughs with strategic precision.

"Good work, Charizard. Take a rest now."

Once they landed, Tyson returned Charizard to its Poké Ball. Cerulean City was famous for its abundant water resources. Along with being home to the Cerulean Gym, it also boasted the renowned Cerulean Bike Shop, where Misty's first bike in the anime originated. These advanced bicycles, like space-efficient backpacks, were marvels of technology, allowing riders to traverse rugged terrain with ease while maintaining impressive speeds. Naturally, such bikes didn't come cheap.

Nearby lay the famed Cerulean Cave, a hotspot for trainers to train or catch rare Pokémon. Unlike the games, entry didn't require prior participation in the Pokémon League, and while it wasn't home to the legendary Mewtwo, it still offered abundant rewards for intrepid trainers. Tyson planned to explore it after his gym battle.

Water-related resources found in the cave might not be directly useful for Tyson's team, but he could always trade them for items better suited to his Pokémon's needs.

As Tyson entered the city, he felt a refreshing breeze sweep by, a small yet welcome reminder of Cerulean City's unique atmosphere.

His first stop was the Pokémon Center to secure accommodations. Afterward, Tyson headed straight to the Cerulean Gym. Unlike his experience at Pewter Gym, Tyson wasn't granted any special privileges here and had to wait his turn. The upside? The Cerulean Gym, currently managed by Misty's three sisters, could host up to three challengers simultaneously, which made the queue move faster. According to the staff, Tyson's turn would come tomorrow.

"Alright, let's see if there are any tournaments happening here."

Carrying Eevee and Mankey with him, Tyson checked the bulletin board for local events. After competing in a tournament back in Pewter City, Tyson realized how valuable these matches were—not only for gaining experience and testing his skills against strong opponents but also for earning mission points and prizes. The rewards were too good to pass up.

Speaking of mission points, Tyson pulled up his task log. Over time, he had grown increasingly disinterested in basic quests, focusing instead on challenge and capture missions, which offered significantly better rewards. His current mission points had soared past the 5,000 mark and now totaled 6,000—enough to elevate a powerful move from advanced to top-tier proficiency.

Unfortunately, Tyson's timing wasn't ideal. After carefully examining the board, he sighed in disappointment. "Looks like there aren't any tournaments or battles scheduled right now."

Sensing his mood, Eevee and Mankey nuzzled against his cheek in a comforting gesture.

"Thanks, you two. It's alright—even without a tournament, there's always the Cerulean Cave. Let's train and prepare for tomorrow's gym battle."

Hearing this, Mankey's eyes lit up with excitement. Having recently advanced to the Competent Level, Mankey was now eager to train and fight. Watching Charizard and the others in battle had clearly left an impression, turning Mankey into a budding battle enthusiast.

Eevee, on the other hand, wasn't as thrilled. Regretting its earlier attempt to console Tyson, it began plotting ways to distract him from the idea of training. Unfortunately for Eevee, Tyson wasn't a mind-reader. If he had been, Eevee's training would likely have doubled!

Once inside the training room, Tyson laid out specific goals for each Pokémon:

"Charizard, focus on mastering Air Slash and Heat Wave. In your spare time, keep practicing Dragon Dive and Dragon Claw."

"Eevee, work on refining your newly learned moves. Aim to raise all your skills to intermediate-level proficiency as soon as possible."

"Kadabra, pause your meditation training for now. Instead, focus on improving your other techniques. I'll directly help boost your meditation proficiency later."

"Mankey, concentrate on sharpening your current moves. Once we leave Cerulean City, I'll find some wild Pokémon for you to battle. Give it your best effort!"

While his Pokémon trained, Tyson found a quiet corner to review advanced trainer strategies and observe their progress. He meticulously identified areas where each Pokémon could improve, ensuring no opportunity for growth was missed.

As his Pokémon's strength increased, Tyson began thinking ahead to the Quartz Conference. With six Pokémon required for participation, he needed to expand his team. However, experienced trainers like Shadow advised against capturing fully grown Pokémon unless absolutely necessary. Instead, it was better to train young Pokémon from their base forms, fostering bonds, honing their skills, and tailoring their battle styles.

For Tyson, this meant planning carefully. The Pokémon he added to his team would need to complement his strategy while leaving room for growth and adaptability. With Cerulean City as his current stage, Tyson was already setting his sights on future opportunities.
