Pokemon: I am Gary

Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Heading to Celadon City

In Saffron City, at Sabrina's house—

Gary wore a pink apron as he stirred at the stove. The breakfast spread included stir-fried vegetables, shrimp and scrambled eggs, spicy tofu pudding, and crab meat soup dumplings.

A blonde and a black-haired Pokémon peeked into the kitchen, drooling in anticipation of being fed.

"I'm so sorry, Gary. You're the guest, and you still have to cook," Sabrina's mother said, feeling embarrassed as she sat in a wheelchair in the living room.

"It's no problem, Mrs. You just recovered and still need some time to move normally. Don't worry about it," Gary shrugged. Feeding one person or a whole family was the same to him.

After the gym battle yesterday, Gary received an invitation to Sabrina's house, arriving as a guest with Caitlin. Sabrina's father finally accepted his daughter's accomplishments, and her mother, who had been turned into a doll, was free again. The family had reconciled and was enjoying a harmonious atmosphere.

Seeing Sabrina smile shyly made Gary feel like he had done something good. By the way, Sabrina's Pokémon were released from the Indigo Plateau last night; her Alakazam returned with other Poké Balls in tow after teleporting back to her. Caitlin and Sabrina quickly decided to have a friendly match as sisters.

Sabrina's father was so frightened that his voice changed as he opened the door to the room where Sabrina trained as a child. It was a soundproof chamber with low-conductivity chrome copper walls and various layers of bulletproof glass—quite an impressive setup.

However, the battle between these two legal lolis went like this: Sabrina pressed one hand against her eyes while striking a magical girl transformation pose with the other. "Shatter reality! Crush reason! Exile this world—Alakazam, Psychic Beam!!"

"Muahaha! False evil king—watch me, magical girl Caitlin, defeat you!" Caitlin struck her own transformation pose and used her psychic powers to levitate in mid-air. "Break apart evil! The moonlight shall grant me strength! The psychic magical girl is here! Gallade, use Psycho Cut!"

Despite the flashy skill effects exploding everywhere, after battling for a while, they still dealt zero damage…

Gary watched from the sidelines, his mouth twitching, before turning around and leaving. What an intense case of chuunibyou!

Later, at Sabrina's parents' insistence, Gary and Caitlin ended up staying overnight at her house. Who understands family? Just as he crawled into bed and had barely fallen asleep, he felt a weight on him!

Two legal girls with blonde and black hair held game controllers with sparkling eyes, looking expectantly at him… Although both Sabrina and Caitlin had great figures—especially their long legs—they were definitely part of the "legs for days" series.

However, Gary thought that after seeing it too much, it had become just that—nothing special. He still needed to consider future generations and choose someone with ample capacity for baby bottles!

After breakfast, Caitlin and Sabrina began their tearful farewell.

Gary seized the moment to make a phone call to Professor Oak.

"Ugh~ Ah~ Life is all about having a cup like this every day." With panda-like eyes and three scratch marks on his chin, Professor Oak sipped hot tea before placing a boiled egg on his eye.

"Uh… what happened to you?" Gary asked in confusion; even a full-force punch from Machamp wouldn't leave him this hurt…

"Oh, it's nothing; I accidentally ran into a tree," Professor Oak said vaguely, his gaze wandering.

"Oh~ ran into a tree…" Gary pouted.

"Ahem… how is Caitlin treating you?" Professor Oak quickly changed the subject.

"It's fine; we're getting along pretty well," Gary shrugged. "By the way, how's Dragonite's egg doing?" This was Gary's reward, and he was definitely concerned about it.

"Don't worry; I'm keeping an eye on it. It should hatch in about a month. I'll have Dragonite take care of it for you," Professor Oak waved his hand reassuringly.

"Okay then; please take good care of it for me," Gary nodded in agreement.

"By the way, you have a few days until you reach Celadon City. Principal Monnet has already called me," Professor Oak added.

"I'm leaving Saffron City today; I should arrive in Celadon City by tomorrow," Gary replied honestly.

"Ahem, Green, you need to hurry up. Shawn and Leaf have already arrived in Celadon City; they contacted me earlier," Professor Oak mentioned casually.

"What about Ash?" Gary asked.

"Uh… he's been missing since Vermilion; it's been half a month now," Professor Oak sighed helplessly.

"Hmm, looks like he might be lost somewhere," Gary shrugged.

At that moment, Professor Oak suddenly leaned closer to the camera, raised an eyebrow, and whispered, "My dear grandson, tell me the truth—are you flirting with a girl from Unova? Yesterday, I was cornered by Agatha at home, and she really gave me a hard time…"

Gary broke out in a cold sweat. "Cough cough, Grandpa—don't say such things. Even though Caitlin is a few years older than me, I just see her as a little sister…"

"What about Lorelei?" Professor Oak asked with curiosity. "Don't worry; I'm very open-minded. A woman three years older is like holding gold bricks. If you like her, I'll absolutely support you!"

Gary covered his face, helplessly explaining, "Well, about Lorelei, I don't know what will happen later. Although I enjoy spending time with her, it's too early to talk about that now."

Professor Oak nodded. "Hmm, I understand. The men of the Oak family are truly gifted. After all, you've always liked more mature women since you were little…"

Gary had never needed anyone's help in this regard. Even at six or seven years old, he had been flirting with girls who were fifteen or sixteen!

"Uh…" Gary felt awkward and didn't know how to respond.

"In any case, I probably won't date anyone until I achieve my goals," Gary sighed.

When he was younger and didn't understand much, he had left a trail of ex-girlfriends in Pallet Town. Childhood crushes? Come on, he had only held hands with a few of those so-called ex-girlfriends!

"Alright then—you have your own goals; I won't stop you. Just remember to bring that girl home for dinner when you're ready; I'd like to meet her," Professor Oak said as he looked at the boiled egg he had been using as an eye mask and promptly ate it.

"Let's leave it at that; I'll talk to you more when I reach Celadon City," Gary said before hanging up the phone and finally letting out a sigh of relief. His grandpa had become increasingly free-spirited over the past two years…

After saying proper goodbyes to Sabrina's family and promising to visit when he had time, Sabrina reluctantly watched Gary and Caitlin leave. Caitlin kept looking in Sabrina's direction until they could no longer see each other.

"Phew~ Take care, Sabrina-chan~" Caitlin sighed.

"Come on, don't be so down; parting is just a prelude to the next meeting," Gary said, rubbing Caitlin's blonde hair gently to comfort her.

"Is that so? But she's my first friend in Kanto besides you and Cynthia," Caitlin reflected.

"That's the meaning of traveling," Gary replied as they walked along the straight path outside, observing the grasslands and woods on either side. "For every Pokémon encountered, there are countless meetings. Meeting many people and parting ways with many others. Then let those encounters give birth to something new—that's the significance of two people meeting."

"That sounds familiar! Yes! It especially sounds like something Cynthia would say," Caitlin clapped her hands, finally drawn away from the farewell.

"The Champion of Sinnoh—what kind of person is she?" Gary asked curiously.

"Well~ she's a very beautiful and powerful woman," Caitlin replied seriously.

"Uh…" Caitlin was speechless. That description was quite fitting.

As they chatted and walked forward, they soon came across a telephone booth and a signpost.

5 km to Celadon City

"It looks like we're not far now; let's have lunch here?" Gary suggested to Caitlin.

Caitlin sat on a large rock and nodded in agreement. "Sure~ I'm just getting hungry~"

"Well then, let's get everyone out for lunch." Gary released his Pokémon and opened his travel cooking station to start preparing lunch.

Caitlin wasn't just sitting idly anymore. She opened Gary's backpack and prepared Pokémon food for their Pokémon. After all, she didn't need to do it herself; with a wave of her hand, Pokémon food flew into each Pokémon's bowl on its own.

Meanwhile, Gary took out some prepared bread, removed the crusts, and got ready with ham, cheese slices, fried eggs, and shredded meat. Finally, he spread mayonnaise and honey mustard sauce before assembling everything into his special sandwich.

"How about some milk tea for lunch? Do you want black tea or oolong tea?" Gary asked as he took out two cans of tea leaves along with some spring water he had saved from Mt. Moon.

Caitlin looked up thoughtfully for a moment before tilting her head. "I want black tea~ with two sugar cubes!"

Gary nodded and handed the kettle to Gothitelle, who skillfully began brewing tea. Before long, the rich aroma of milk tea wafted through the air.

After finishing their meal, Gengar took care of washing the dishes. Looking at the other Pokémon focused on their meals, Gary sighed; who would have thought that his best housekeeper would be Gengar? Should he get him a maid outfit?

With sandwiches and milk tea set on the table, Gary and Caitlin sat down ready to eat. Suddenly—whoosh! A shadow jumped out from the grass. With its round body, agile limbs, and a comical pig nose…

"It's a pig monkey Pokémon—Mankey!" The Pokédex in Gary's pocket automatically identified it.

Caitlin curiously examined the Mankey. "I have to say this creature makes both pigs and monkeys look pretty awkward…"

Gary wiped the cold sweat from his forehead; oh no! This kid has even learned how to make sarcastic remarks!
