Chapter 53: ch50
A summer night always comes slowly. It was just after six o'clock, and the sun was still in the sky. The warm atmosphere was perfect for Alex and his friends to gather for dinner. They set up a table at a restaurant, with his three roommates, Wendy, and Elesa joining in.
The main purpose today was to celebrate Alex successfully obtaining his professional trainer title. This feast was a must.
During dinner, everyone chatted about the events of the day.
"Shiny Oddish!"
"And Shiny Meowth."
…
"This Flash guy is amazing. He actually listed two Shiny Pokémon at once, and they're both ultra-rare Shinies."
A pink Oddish and a silver-edged Meowth. It was indeed eye-opening for people across the country.
Alex simply smiled and said nothing.
He kept his achievements under wraps. Revealing that these two Pokémon belonged to him would cause unnecessary trouble, so he preferred handling it through the app.
As for the background information, Alex chose to keep it hidden. Only the app's official background knew about Alex's details. And since the app is a state-owned enterprise, only top-level officials could access his information.
"Ding!"
"A message from the Pokémon app!"
Alex was eating when a notification came from his phone. It was a push notification about Pokémon sales.
"Ding! Dear Flash, the Shiny Oddish you listed was purchased by Miss Erica, the owner of the Spring City Grass Gym, for 52 million!"
"All follow-up procedures will be handled officially. Please prepare your Pokémon. Someone will contact you to collect the Pokémon within half an hour!"
Another message confirmed the successful sale of Meowth. Although the price of 20 million was high, it didn't match Oddish's. But Alex was more intrigued by the buyer's name—it stood out!
"Lin Giovanni?"
Which Giovanni? That Giovanni?
Despite the extra surname, Alex immediately sensed something was off.
Could it be?
Alex paused, momentarily speechless. He clicked to view Giovanni's profile, which was public—Lin Giovanni, head of the National Ground Gym!
Is it really Lin Giovanni?
That can't be right. Isn't Boss Giovanni from the Neon country? How could he appear in the Dragon Kingdom and hold the position of a national-level Gym Leader for Ground types?
This seemed like a walking paradox!
"But for the five hundred thousand, I have to live to get it," Alex muttered.
He wasn't sure if the Giovanni in this world was the same villain as in the games or anime. Giovanni was obviously a gym owner, wealthy, with extensive properties. He also had a secret side with Team Rocket and numerous illegal dealings.
Now that Giovanni had appeared in the Dragon Kingdom and become a national gym leader, Alex paid special attention to ensure he wouldn't be backstabbed in the future.
"Fortunately, Silver Meowth's talent isn't high, just gym level."
While Giovanni specialized in Ground type Pokémon, Meowth was Normal. Its evolution, Persian, wasn't part of the Ground line either.
Still, Alex worried that the Shiny Meowth in Giovanni's hands could become exceptionally powerful, like Beedrill or the Persian that always stayed hidden.
Everyone knew Giovanni's Beedrill had an invincible presence, capable of legendary battles and dominating Elites. It was low-key yet powerful.
In contrast, Persian seemed like a mere pet, always following Giovanni. But perhaps Persian was Giovanni's true trump card.
"Let's see," Alex thought, ultimately unfazed. To become the strongest, he'd challenge and defeat powerful Trainers worldwide. Whether local players or anime characters, Alex wasn't afraid.
Even if they were strong, his Charizard could destroy everything.
"Sell it if you sell it. Anyway, there's still 20 million, plus a Ground-type secret treasure."
Alex reviewed the background message. Not only did Giovanni pay 20 million, but he also gave Alex an additional Ground-type secret treasure—an Earth Gem.
It was a jewel infused with Ground Type power, boosting Pokémon's Ground Type attacks. Perfect for Pupitar.
"This time, I made a net profit of 80 million!"
Wow! That's incredible!
Excited, Alex ordered a few hundred dollars more in barbecue, letting everyone eat and enjoy to their heart's content.
Both Wendy and Elesa knew Alex had sold three Shiny Pokémon to the school and made significant money, but they didn't pity him. Instead, they seemed intent on taking advantage of his good fortune.
The banquet was lively. The group from the Northeast was especially entertaining. The two goddesses, Wendy and Elesa, were delighted.
During dinner, Alex received a call. He met with the Pokémon app staff on the street, handed them two Poké Balls, and instructed them to return the red and white balls.
The red and white balls were system-produced, much more efficient than ordinary Poké Balls. Alex didn't want to give them away for free.
It was past ten o'clock by the time everyone was nearly drunk. With the dormitory about to close, they all chose to head back.
If it were just the guys, they'd likely not return to the dormitory in such a state but take their girlfriends to a hotel instead.
Throughout, Mark, David, and Eric gave Alex winks, urging him to seize the opportunity.
But Alex acted indifferent, completely ignoring their signals.
Wendy and Elesa—if he were alone with one, he might have considered making a move. But with both of them?
"Hehe! After eating and drinking well, I can't stop your mouths!" Alex rolled his eyes.
Eventually, he helped the inebriated Mark back to the dormitory. David and Eric took over the task, while Alex escorted Wendy and Elesa back to their dormitory.
Wendy went back first, and Alex walked Elesa home.
In the dark, quiet alley, Elesa suddenly grabbed Alex's hand. As he wondered if there were any bugs around, the beautiful long-legged girl leaned closer, her hands resting on his neck.
