POKEMON: PICK UP THE MYSTICAL POKEMON DIANCIE AT THE BEGINNING

Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Universe 1

Chapter 12: The Choice

At this moment, nine red and white Poké Balls were neatly arranged on the table in front of Victor.

The Pokémon inside were: Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic, Chimchar, Tepig, Fennekin, Litten, Scorbunny, and Fuecoco. These nine Pokémon represented the Fire-type starters from all generations of Pokémon games before Victor's time travel.

The reason these three starter types (Grass, Fire, and Water) were highly recommended by the Alliance as initial Pokémon had solid grounding. Each of them could undergo two stages of evolution, with their final evolution occurring at an elite level, making them accessible yet powerful choices. Furthermore, starter Pokémon were known for their high potential and temperament, making them ideal partners for trainers beginning their journey.

The staff released the Pokémon from their Poké Balls one after another, and soon the table was filled with the energetic forms of the Fire-type starters.

The timid Cyndaquil hid behind the composed Charmander. Torchic, Scorbunny, and Chimchar were brimming with energy, already hopping around to play. Fennekin sat calmly, grooming its fur as if unconcerned by the commotion, while Tepig napped on the side. Meanwhile, Litten was curled up and dozing off, seemingly unaffected by the surroundings.

Despite their different personalities and traits, Victor had already made up his mind about who he would choose before arriving here.

His gaze fell on Litten, the napping feline Pokémon. Litten had a sleek black body with red stripes and whiskers on its face. Its bright yellow eyes stood out, and its tail had a tufted, spiky end.

Pokémon: Litten

Type: Fire

Gender: Male

Ability: Intimidate

Level: 5

Moves: Scratch, Ember, Growl, Fake Out, Heat Wave, Flare Blitz, Revenge

Victor had always been a fan of the Incineroar line even before his time travel, but his decision to choose Litten was based on more than nostalgia. He was captivated by its natural potential and unique characteristics.

A Test of Strength

Even though Victor was confident in his choice, he wanted to follow the proper process since his father had worked hard to secure this selection opportunity.

The staff led Victor and his father to a spacious field where the nine Pokémon began showcasing their abilities.

Charmander displayed impressive physical strength, coupled with a powerful inherited Dragon-type move. Cyndaquil's flames burned intensely, while Chimchar demonstrated agility. Each Pokémon performed well, a testament to their exceptional breeding.

Litten's performance, however, stood out. It displayed swift movements during a practice match against Tepig. At the start, Litten lowered its body and emitted a low, threatening growl. Tepig, startled, froze momentarily, and its Flame Charge move fizzled out.

Victor's father pointed out how rare it was for such a young Pokémon to master its ability and use it creatively. Litten's Intimidate ability not only reduced the opponent's attack but also slowed their movements and even disrupted their moves.

Victor smiled. This demonstration only solidified his decision.

A Partner Chosen

After sharing his observations and thoughts with his father, Victor received his blessing to select Litten.

At first, Litten was reluctant to let anyone approach, much less touch it. Victor patiently used his Aura ability to emit calming, friendly waves of energy. He extended his hand and waited. After a moment of hesitation, Litten sniffed his palm and eventually allowed him to pick it up.

Holding Litten in his arms, Victor felt a warmth that was both physical and emotional. The little Pokémon weighed only about 5 kilograms, but its presence brought immense joy.

Litten snuggled into his arms, purring softly as Victor expertly scratched its chin. He couldn't help but feel proud of his cat-petting skills, honed over countless visits to cat cafés before his time travel.

In fact, Victor once visited a Pokémon-themed cat café and, unaware of the nature of the café's security Pokémon, began petting Persian and Thievul. Both Pokémon, notorious for their aloofness, soon melted under his touch, purring like house cats.

The café manager was so impressed that he offered Victor lessons on Pokémon handling in exchange for a generous tuition fee.

Now, as Victor walked out with Litten cradled in his arms, he couldn't be happier. The bond with his new partner marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his journey.
