"What?!"
Jessie glared at her fainted Arbok in disbelief. "We lost? Just like that?"
Gary remained calm, issuing his next command. "Exeggutor, don't let them get away. Use Confusion to restrain them all."
"Coconut Egg!"
With precision and efficiency, Exeggutor's psychic powers immobilized Jessie, James, and Meowth, leaving them tangled in midair.
"Let us go, you brat!" Jessie screeched.
"You've messed with Team Rocket! You'll regret this!" James threatened.
"Yeah, meow! You're in big trouble now!" Meowth added, trying to sound menacing.
Gary smirked. "You three really have no idea what kind of trouble you're causing yourselves. Viridian City is one of Team Rocket's major bases. Do you even understand the consequences of your actions?"
Jessie and James froze, confused.
"You fools," Gary continued. "If you succeeded in stealing Pokémon here, it would force the Pokémon League to investigate. Your boss wouldn't be happy about that."
Gary sighed. "Exeggutor, use Leech Seed to tie them up properly."
Exeggutor spit out three seeds, which quickly sprouted into vines. The vines wrapped tightly around the trio, draining their energy and leaving them drowsy.
Soon, the Rocket trio had fallen into a deep sleep, their earlier bravado completely silenced.
"Finally, some peace and quiet." Gary waved dismissively.

A Grateful Joy
Nurse Joy and the Pokémon Center staff, who had been hiding during the attack, emerged cautiously. Relief washed over them as they saw Team Rocket subdued.
"Thank you so much!" Nurse Joy exclaimed, bowing slightly. "If they had taken the Pokémon under my care, I wouldn't have known how to face their Trainers."
Gary shrugged. "It's nothing. Just doing my duty as an Alliance Trainer. You should call Officer Jenny to take care of them."
Joy smiled. "The alarm already notified the authorities. Officer Jenny should be here any moment."
As if on cue, Officer Jenny's voice rang from outside. "Freeze! Police!"
She entered the Pokémon Center with her squad, scanning the scene. Jenny's eyes lingered on Gary and Ash.
Nurse Joy quickly stepped forward, explaining the situation. "The boy in the blue jacket is Gary. He stopped Team Rocket and protected the Pokémon here."
Officer Jenny nodded in understanding. She motioned for her team to handcuff the Rocket trio and carry them out.
"Thank you for your bravery," Jenny said to Gary. "You've done us all a great service."
Gary watched silently as the trio was hauled away. He knew that Viridian City's police station wouldn't be able to hold Team Rocket for long, but that wasn't his concern.

Reflecting on the Battle
Gary turned to Exeggutor, feeling a mix of satisfaction and regret. Before the encounter, he had used eight Rare Candies to boost Exeggutor's level to 18, preparing for a tough fight.
Looking at the status of Jessie and James' Pokémon now, he realized it was unnecessary:
[Koffing ♂: Level 9, Potential: Elite]
[Arbok ♂: Level 10, Potential: Elite]
Gary sighed. "If I had known they were this weak, I wouldn't have wasted those candies."

A Conversation with Ash
"Gary, you already have two Pokémon," Ash remarked, walking over.
"That's right," Gary replied nonchalantly. "What about you?"
Ash scratched his head awkwardly. "Uh… I haven't caught any Pokémon yet."
Gary smirked. "And you wanted to be my rival? You couldn't even handle two low-level Team Rocket grunts. Good luck collecting all eight Gym Badges. Maybe give up on the whole 'Pokémon Master' dream while you're at it."
Ash clenched his fists. "I won't give up! Pikachu was injured. Otherwise, I could've beaten them!"
Gary glanced at Pikachu, who was still hooked up to a charging device and looking weak.
[Pikachu ♂: Level 15, Potential: Champion]
Gary raised an eyebrow at Pikachu's potential. "Interesting. Could it be that being struck by lightning improved Pikachu's potential?"
He remembered how Pikachu had survived lightning from Raikou and Zekrom, absorbing their power to enhance its own electricity.
Gary thought to himself, I should try this with an Electric Pokémon sometime.
"You'd better focus on Pikachu's recovery," Gary finally said, turning to leave.
"Wait! Where are you going?" Ash asked.
"To the hotel," Gary replied, rolling his eyes. "The Pokémon Center isn't providing accommodation after the attack. Common sense, Ash."
Ash watched as Gary walked away, feeling a mix of frustration and determination.

An Unfinished Task
Later that night, Gary checked into a high-end hotel nearby. As he prepared for bed, he couldn't shake a nagging feeling.
"Why hasn't the system marked the task as complete yet?" he muttered.
The mission was to stop Pikachu from destroying the Viridian Pokémon Center. With the Rocket trio defeated, Pikachu had no reason to cause chaos. Yet the system remained silent.
"Maybe the task requires Pikachu to leave Viridian City entirely," Gary speculated.
He decided not to overthink it. The reward for the mission was only ten Rare Candies, and Pokémon levels were easy to raise before Gym-level battles. Potential mattered far more in the long run.
Gary climbed into bed, resolving to check the Pokémon Center's status in the morning.

The Next Morning
Gary woke early and immediately checked his inventory.
[Low-Level Rare Candy ×10]
The number hadn't changed. The task was still incomplete.
"Strange," Gary muttered, running to the window.
The Pokémon Center stood intact, and the cordons were still up. Ash and Misty were likely still there, waiting for Pikachu to recover.
Gary sighed. "Guess I'll have to wait until they leave the city."
Patience was not Gary's strong suit, but he reminded himself that small setbacks like this were insignificant in the grand scheme of his journey.
With a new day ahead, he resolved to focus on his next goal: catching stronger Pokémon and preparing for his first Gym battle.
