Chapter 30: Chapter 28: James vs Noland. Part 1.
The atmosphere in the stadium was electrifying, a sea of voices and emotions intertwining into a single cry of anticipation. James stood at the center of the battlefield, his gaze fixed on the horizon where Noland awaited him. Both trainers, with their hearts beating in unison, knew that this battle would be decisive.
The referee, a man with a firm bearing and resonant voice, raised his hand to call the crowd's attention. With a serious expression, he began to explain the rules of the match as the trainers prepared.
—"Trainers!" —he announced—. "This is a 6 versus 6 battle; I want a clean fight. Let the battle begin!"
James, with a serene calm that contrasted with the energy of the crowd, took his Poké Ball and confidently threw it into the air. In a brilliant flash, his Pidgeot emerged, gracefully spreading its majestic wings. The wind blew around it, making its brown feathers ripple as if they were dancing flames.
On the other side, Noland smiled broadly as he threw his own Poké Ball. Out came Kingdra, the dragon Pokémon that glided elegantly across the field, its scales shimmering under the stadium lights. The joy on Noland's face quickly faded; he was now completely focused on the battle.
—"Let's begin!" —shouted the referee, signaling the start of the match.
Pidgeot flapped its wings vigorously, raising a gust of wind that made the stadium flags flutter. James watched Noland and his Kingdra closely. He knew that every move counted and that he had to anticipate his opponent's attacks.
—"Pidgeot! Use Tailwind!" —ordered James clearly.
Pidgeot's wings began to spin rapidly, creating an airflow that increased the speed of all its movements. Positive energy filled the field as Pidgeot prepared to attack.
Noland was not far behind. With a determined smile, he shouted:
—"Kingdra! Use Rain Dance!"
A torrent of water began to fall from the sky, enveloping the field in a mantle of rain. The strategy was clear: Kingdra would benefit greatly from the wet weather, boosting its water attacks.
James was not intimidated by the change in weather. With unshakable calmness, he commanded:
—"Pidgeot! Hurricane!"
A powerful whirlwind formed around Pidgeot as it launched its attack towards Kingdra. The gusts of wind and water collided in a spectacular explosion, but Noland was prepared.
—"Kingdra! Use Dragon Dance and then Hydro Pump!"
Kingdra danced agilely, increasing its speed and power before unleashing a powerful jet of water towards Pidgeot. The attack hit directly, but James knew he could not give up so easily.
—"Pidgeot! Dodge and use Steel Wing!"
With reflexes quick as lightning, Pidgeot slid to one side and then charged at Kingdra with its shining wings. The impact was forceful; Kingdra was pushed back by the strength of the attack.
James observed every move with clinical attention. He knew he had to seize every opportunity to weaken Kingdra before it could launch another devastating attack.
—"Pidgeot! Use Feather Dance!"
Soft and bright feathers flew towards Kingdra, lowering its attack as James kept his gaze fixed on his opponent.
Noland frowned; the situation was starting to become complicated. However, he was not going to give up so easily.
—"Kingdra! Use Dragon Pulse!"
A beam of draconic energy shot towards Pidgeot. But James had anticipated this move.
—"Pidgeot! Use Twister!"
The whirlwind created by Pidgeot absorbed Dragon Pulse, converting the energy into a colorful explosion that illuminated the field. The crowd erupted in cheers at this display of strategic skill.
With both Pokémon exhausted but determined, Noland decided to give it everything in one last attempt:
—"Kingdra! Hydro Pump!"
The torrent of water shot out like a cannon towards Pidgeot, who was ready to respond.
—"Pidgeot! Giga Impact!"
Both attacks collided in a massive explosion that shook the entire stadium. Water and energy clashed, creating a cloud of steam that temporarily covered the field.
As the steam began to dissipate, everyone held their breath. Pidgeot emerged triumphant from within the smoke; though somewhat unsteady, it had withstood the final onslaught.
Noland watched as his Kingdra fell to the ground defeated and felt a mix of sadness and respect for his opponent.
James smiled serenely as he raised his hand in victory. He had won this round but knew there were more battles ahead.
The crowd erupted in cheers as the referee declared:
—"James Morgan wins this round!" —announced the referee while telling Noland to release his next Pokémon.
The battle continued in the vibrant stadium, where the excitement of the crowd resonated like constant drumming. James had achieved an initial victory with his Pidgeot, but now pressure mounted. Noland, with a smile hiding fierce determination, decided it was time to change strategy.
—"Return, Kingdra!" —shouted Noland as he called back his Pokémon into its Poké Ball. The crowd held their breath, eager to see what he would bring next.
With a decisive movement, Noland threw another Poké Ball into the air. This time, an imposing Rhydon emerged with a powerful roar, its sharp horns glistening under the stadium lights. The presence of this rock and ground Pokémon was overwhelming; its robust musculature and challenging gaze promised an intense battle.
—"Rhydon!" —announced Noland—. "It's time to show what you're worth!"
James felt a chill run down his spine. He knew Rhydon was a formidable opponent but refused to be intimidated.
Pidgeot soared into the air, its wings extended like a golden cloak shimmering under the stadium lights. The crowd erupted in cheers, cheering for both trainers as they prepared for the next exchange.
Noland smiled confidently. He knew Rhydon had a type advantage over Pidgeot but that wouldn't stop him from fighting with everything he had.
—"Rhydon! Use Swords Dance!" —ordered Noland.
Rhydon began to dance on the field as illusory swords appeared around it; its movements were heavy yet elegant as it increased its attack power and prepared for an imminent assault. Energy swirled around it like a whirlwind of power.
James watched closely. He knew he had to act quickly before Rhydon became too strong.
—"Pidgeot! Use Steel Wing!" —shouted James.
Pidgeot descended rapidly towards Rhydon, its wings shining with metallic brilliance. The attack struck Rhydon, who staggered slightly but did not yield. The fierce gaze of this rock Pokémon showed no signs of surrender.

Rhydon lifted its hind legs and launched sharp stones at Pidgeot. The rocks flew like lethal projectiles but James was ready.

The speed and agility of Pidgeot allowed it to narrowly avoid the attack; then it turned mid-air and charged at Rhydon with all its might. The impact was monumental; both Pokémon were pushed back by an explosive collision.
Both trainers looked at their Pokémon with concern and determination. Pidgeot was visibly tired but still had fire in its eyes; Rhydon also showed signs of weariness after intense exchanges.
Noland took a deep breath and decided to give it everything:
—"Rhydon! Use Ice Punch!"

—"Golduck!" —he exclaimed as his water Pokémon emerged gracefully onto the field. Its blue fur shone under stadium lights while its eyes displayed fierce determination.
Noland frowned upon seeing Golduck; he knew facing off against a water-type Pokémon would not be easy for his Rhydon but wasn't going down without a fight.
—"Rhydon! Get ready!" —shouted Noland while positioning his Pokémon firmly for next round.
James watched his opponent closely knowing Rhydon was strong but Golduck possessed speed and abilities that could make all difference.
