Chapter 20: Chapter 20:Jenny Appears
"For safety's sake, this person cannot be left alive!"
Toshi carried Yamamoto to a tree two hundred meters away and, along with Butterfree, dug a deep hole.
After removing Yamamoto's backpack and searching through it, Toshi pulled out a dagger, his expression complicated as he dealt with Yamamoto.
This was the first time he had taken a life since arriving in this world, and a wave of nausea surged from deep within him.
Thankfully, Toshi managed to suppress the emotion in time and did not vomit.
He tossed Yamamoto into the hole they had dug, filled it back in, and used Butterfree's Confusion to rearrange the bushes that had been displaced.
Once the area looked flawless from the outside, Toshi finally sat down on the ground, breathing heavily.
"Butterfree..."
Butterfree landed beside Toshi, as if trying to comfort him.
"Butterfree, I'm okay."
Toshi calmed himself and finally felt better, his complexion returning to normal.
"It's getting late; Officer Jenny should be arriving soon. Butterfree, let's head back."
Toshi stood up and glanced at Yamamoto, buried beneath the ground, his expression complex.
This place was something he would probably never forget for the rest of his life!
Ten minutes later, Toshi returned to the side of the off-road vehicle, just as Officer Jenny's police car lights appeared in his line of sight.
"Toshi Trainer, hello."
Jenny stepped out of the front police car and walked directly up to Toshi.
"Officer Jenny, hello."
Toshi stepped forward and responded politely.
"Toshi Trainer, time is tight; let's talk while we walk."
At the same time, Jenny addressed the thirty or so police officers who had just exited their cars, saying, "The six-person team will guard the vehicles; the others, come with me!"
"Yes!"
In this world, there were not only Officer Jenny but also many others. However, the League's police department had always been controlled by the Jenny family.
Typically, the number of Officer Jennies in a city does not exceed five.
Don't think that five is a small number; considering the vast number of towns in this world, if each city had an Officer Jenny, it shows how numerous the Jenny family truly is!
"Officer Jenny, the Inkoutou underground base is just ahead."
Toshi led the way, explaining the situation to Jenny as they walked.
"Before you arrived, I heard a loud battle noise from below. I wondered if the Inkoutou were having an internal conflict, so I thought this was a good opportunity, and I had Butterfree continuously sprinkle Sleep Powder at the exposed vent."
"Over there."
Yes, Toshi's initial plan was to use Sleep Powder at the vent to put everyone below to sleep.
He estimated that during the fierce battle, the commotion would be significant, so no one would notice the Sleep Powder.
Of course, this tactic wouldn't work on open ground, as the Sleep Powder would surely be blown away, but underground was different. It was a confined space, so Toshi believed that as long as there was enough time, the Sleep Powder would definitely be effective.
Jenny looked in the direction Toshi pointed and indeed noticed a metal vent exposed up in a tree. If one didn't look closely, it would be easy to miss.
Jenny glanced at Butterfree beside Toshi, thinking that it must have been Butterfree's Supersonic that helped them discover this vent.
"Trainer Toshi, your method is good, but I have to say it's still too risky. What if the people below notice your movements and come up to inspect? The Inkoutou are a ruthless crowd, so please don't engage in such dangerous acts again."
While praising Toshi, Jenny reminded him to be cautious and that he shouldn't think about taking risks, or he would eventually pay the price.
In response, Toshi could only nod in agreement and promise not to make the same mistake again.
Earlier, after Yamamoto came up, he either forgot to close the passage or was in too much of a hurry to escape, so they didn't have to worry about how to open the entrance; they could simply go down.
Standing at the entrance of the passage, Jenny said to Toshi, "Trainer Toshi, for safety's sake, it's better if you don't go down with us."
Toshi shook his head. "Officer Jenny, since I discovered this base, I believe I have the right to take a look. Plus, with so many people here, nothing should happen."
Jenny considered it for a moment and said, "You do have a point, but for your safety, please stay behind us and don't wander off."
Toshi spoke seriously. "Officer Jenny, don't worry. I won't joke around with my own life."
After that, Jenny turned to the people behind her and said, "The six-person team will stay to guard the entrance and must not let anyone out. The others, prepare to go down with me."
With that, she took a Poké Ball from her waist, and Arcanine appeared.
Toshi looked at the Elite strength Arcanine with a hint of envy.
Arcanine was not only the symbol of the Jenny family, but most of the Arcanine in the world were effectively monopolized by the Jenny family. Others had a chance of encountering a wild Arcanine or Growlithe that was smaller than winning the lottery.
The other police officers, upon hearing the order, immediately summoned their Pokémon, but their Pokémon were not as rare as Officer Jenny's; they were mostly common Pokémon like Swellow and Cacturne.
"Let's go!"
Once everyone was prepared, Jenny gave the order.
Toshi followed behind the group. These people were indeed well-trained police officers; often, just a glance from Jenny was enough for them to know what to do.
Whenever they passed a fork in the path, three to five people would separate from the main group, both to explore other directions and to ensure their own escape route wasn't cut off.
In this tense atmosphere, Toshi's body involuntarily tensed up, and even Butterfree seemed much more nervous than usual.
After advancing for about ten minutes, the group arrived at the scene where Ooyama and Mako had fought.
"Sure enough, the Inkoutou are having an internal conflict."
Jenny looked at the brutal scene in front of her and quickly pieced together what had happened here.
As Toshi stepped inside, his pupils widened instantly as he spotted the Honchkrow he had seen during the day, now lifeless.
"I can't believe this Honchkrow is actually part of the Inkoutou?! That incident from earlier must have been caused by the Inkoutou without a doubt. And..." Toshi quickly scanned the area. "This near Champion killed so many people and Pokémon, yet still ended up dead! What in the world happened here?"
"Could that thin guy really have such great power?"
Toshi couldn't help but doubt that the thin guy, who had been so easily dealt with, could actually kill a near Champion.
