Pokémon: Worlds Divided

Chapter 31: Pokémon Alliance Branch!

After the siblings settled in, they headed to their assigned cabins. With the ship's pace, the trip from the island would last roughly four hours. This vessel was swifter than the ferry, which required around 7-8 hours to arrive at the mainland.

The three of them stood on the deck of the ship. They watched as Driftveil Island disappeared in the distance.

Turning around, they were guided to their rooms by a Sailor.

"You guys need to buy a Spatial backpack for your journey. They're quite expensive but useful and you can now afford them."

Leon had seen this item for sale, but the price was sky-high. These backpacks could store a great number of items for traveling purposes. Perhaps this item was what the Pokémon games used since you could fit so many things inside.

"Yeah, I saw that item when I was searching your Pokédex. They have grades for these bags as well, they're from Low, intermediate, and High Grades."

Lars remembered these bags and instantly took a liking to them.

"What? There's such a convenient bag in existence?" Leona was shocked. A bag that could store items of great size and weight within it!

"They exist but the price isn't small. There's even an upcharge for add-ons to this bag." Lars had done a lot of research due to his high interest in it.

"There are different grades and special types. They're not really special 'types' but they could be locked which only allows the owner entry. It is perfect for preventing theft; you can even buy one that comes with a tracker."

Leon explained further that one could have their Spatial backpack linked to their Pokédex or Pokénav. Professor Birch gave Pokénavs to the trainers instead of a Pokédex.

"That's right. These bags are rarely seen because of their price. Even the Low-grade ones cost ₱2,000,000; it's insane!"

Lars knew this price was something most couldn't afford. However, their situation was much different now, and it wouldn't be a problem for them.

"This price is sky-high, but that isn't our problem anymore. The best place to buy this backpack is in Mauville City. This city is north of Slateport City, so we'll head to Mauville to shop and buy it later."

Leon and his siblings could just take Rusturf Tunnel to get to Rustboro City. He also heard and knew that Rusturf Tunnel was foggy, so there might be trouble getting through the cave.

While he was at it; he might as well challenge the Gym Leader. Leon smiled at the thought, this was something he should do while passing by.

'Hmm, who could I challenge Wattson with? Onix, Sableye, and a Seviper would be a good choice.'

Since Leon was a rookie trainer with no badges or experience; he could ask for a 2 vs 2 battle. Sableye and Onix had the best aptitude for this battle, so these two would be his go-to.

"Leon. What are you thinking so hard about?" Leon's thoughts were interrupted by Leona, who saw him suddenly go silent.

"Nothing. I was just thinking that you guys should buy the highest-quality backpack. It must have the custom add-ons, such as the tracking setting and security lock setting."

Leon didn't need such a bag because he had an Inventory to store things. Everyone nodded before going into their rooms.

Leon lay on his bed while going through his inventory items. He had to separate Seviper and their eggs because he was leaving the island. They were all placed in his inventory at this time.

Leon ultimately decided to keep them within his inventory space. However, he did summon Beldum and Aron. He made sure to clean Aron's underbelly and feet in the tub before allowing it to lay anywhere.

Leon looked over the pair and their progress. Beldum had already reached level 16 while Aron reached 14.

"Here you guys go." Leon took out stacks of metal plates for them to eat. This could be considered their breakfast.

Leon put headphones on and attached them to his Pokédex. Afterward, Leon searched the internet and watched videos most of the time.

"I remember that there was a rank on my ID card. I checked my ID confirmation papers and found that it showed a picture of my ID."

Leon inspected it and found that this rank was for people who completed tasks, which ranged from Iron to Legend levels. He didn't know what these tasks were exactly, but some were easy and some were nightmarish.

Leon asked the Mayor about it and he explained that it was his ranking., which was currently rankless.

The ranks went from the lowest to the highest: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinium, Diamond, Master, Legend, and Mythic. Each rank had sub-classes, from one to five stars.

"We woke up at six in the morning and had to be at the dock by eight. We should arrive at Slateport City by noon, so around twelvish."

Leon decided to take a nap. He made sure to tell Beldum and Aron to not get on the bed. These two weighed so much that they could easily destroy the bed.

"... ..."

"... ..."

Both Aron and Beldum didn't reply and continued munching on their metallic meal. Leon was speechless for a moment before dosing off.

Time flies when you're relaxing, and before long; the ship reached Slateport City. Given the Alliance's unique identities, they were granted permission to dock at Stern's Shipyard.

Leon woke up due to the announcement through the ship's speakers. He stretched and sat up before turning to see Beldum and Aron; who were sleeping in a corner.

Leon recalled both before opening the door and leaving. All of his belongings were placed within his inventory, so he didn't need to unpack or pack anything.

"Leon! Hehe, can you guess what we did while you were asleep?" Leona suddenly came over and spoke with a grin.

"What did you do?" Leon saw Lars walking over from a distance. Leona had run here after hearing the announcement, or perhaps before that.

"Lars and I were fishing on the deck of the ship. He couldn't catch anything, but I managed to catch something."

Leona explained that she had caught a Pokémon called Remoraid while fishing. It was useless out of water, so she didn't plan on actually using it.

"What? You actually caught a Remoraid?" Remoraid were usually smart, especially their evolved forms; so getting ensnared was highly unlikely.

"Yeah, it was hard to reel in because it shot off attacks, but I was still able to nab it." Leona rubbed her chin with a smile. On the other hand, Lar's expression was dispirited as he hadn't caught anything.

The sailor let them both use fishing rods to catch Pokémon on the deck. Leon thought he should buy a fishing rod when he had the chance.

"That's good. You should be able to register it to your Pokénav once you receive one. For now, let's head to the Alliance branch to get our IDs with our money on them."

"Haha, you're right bro, let's carry on. Lars, you don't need to be so disheartened. Just go buy a fishing rod and fish some more."

Leona chuckled as she embraced them from behind the neck before they turned to leave.

"Do you guys need help locating the Pokémon branch?" Larry was already standing on the docks waiting. The few people who came along were already in the process of disembarking the ship.

"Slateport City is fairly big. We could use some direction to get our licenses faster." Leon nodded in agreeance.

"Haha, I figured." Larry had already prepared for this. He handed them directions to the branch before bidding them farewell.

Leon was rushing to his destination, but that wasn't easy. The city was lively and filled with people at every turn.

There were many attractions, but the most famous was the beauty contest. People gathered from all around Hoenn to spectate and participate in these contests.

Leon had already told them about these contests. These contests immediately sparked the interest of Leona; something he thought would.

"Jeez, there's so many people. This is completely different from Driftveil. These streets are so packed that not even a fly can squeeze through."

Lars was stunned as he could barely squeeze through the crowd. This crowd usually dyed down around 1 pm or so; according to Larry.

"This is the city now, it's going to be like that from now on." Leon could only sigh. This place was a little too packed.

It wasn't even like this back in his world, it would seem that the population of the Pokémon world might be much higher.

After navigating through the throngs of people and requesting guidance, they eventually located the Pokémon Alliance Branch. The structure was enormous in size, with its name illuminated in bright red and white neon lights.

When they entered the building, they surprisingly found no visitors. Despite this, many people were occupying this clerk position. There were different clerk setups with different jobs.

Leon saw a Bounty Hunter Section, Trainer License Section, Guild Creation Section, Money Transaction Section, and the Pokémarket Section.

What he saw were just signs pointing in the direction of these sections. Leon knew they had to go to the [Trainer's License Section].

These floors were made of Black marble. This added a luxurious highlight to the building with its white and black walls and furniture.

"Oh, young trainers. Are you here to register for an ID?" A young woman with dark brown eyes asked the siblings with a smile.

"We've already registered, we're just here to pick up our IDs." Afterward, they handed the woman their confirmation papers.

"Perfect! I'll go and retrieve your new IDs, just give me a second." She had scanned the barcode on the papers before receiving the results.

"Alright." The siblings waited with anticipation.

Within five minutes of waiting, the woman came out with their new IDs. This process would have taken longer if they hadn't done this beforehand.

"Here you guys go, sorry for the wait." The woman smiled and handed them their IDs.

"No problem. That was the fastest serves I've ever seen, thanks." Lars complimented her and took his ID.

The second Leon touched his ID, he heard and saw a notification.

'What?'
