As Charmander stood enveloped in light, its silhouette began to shift and grow.
"Roar!"
The glow scattered into sparkling light that dissolved into the air, revealing a newly evolved Charmeleon.
> Ding! Congratulations on your Charmander evolving into Charmeleon!
Ding! World Announcement! Congratulations, Kanto Region player 'Satoshi''s Pokémon became the first evolved Pokémon in the game. Let us remember player 'Satoshi' as the leader of the game!
Ding! World Announcement! Congratulations, player 'Satoshi' received the system reward: Alliance Coin X10,000, Ultra Ball X20, Skill Machine [Fire Blast], Silver Crown X2!
Charmeleon's Information
[Name: Charmeleon
Type: Fire
Ability: Blaze (Fire-type moves are 1.5x stronger when in critical condition)
Level: 16
Potential: Elite]
Charmeleon's appearance was notably fiercer. Its skin had darkened, a small horn-like protrusion sprouted from its head, and its limbs and tail had grown longer. The flame on its tail burned brighter than before, exuding an aura of power.
Satoshi grinned at the sight of his stronger Pokémon.
"Another world announcement? That's unexpected. I don't recall this kind of reward in my previous life. Another version difference, perhaps?"
He glanced at the rewards and smirked. "Seven silver crowns now. Incredible. If this keeps up, I'll be unstoppable."
Satoshi's thoughts drifted to why others hadn't evolved their Pokémon yet.
"Most players probably aren't training Bug-types like Catterpie or Weedle. Even though they evolve quickly, people often underestimate their potential because of their appearance or reputation. Their loss is my gain."
He added the newly obtained [Fire Blast] skill machine to his inventory.
"[Fire Blast]… an extremely powerful Fire-type move with a power of 110. It's slightly weaker than [Flare Blitz] but much safer. [Fire Blast] is a ranged attack with no recoil, making it more reliable during drawn-out battles."
"Charmeleon, come here. Let's test your new move."
> Ding! Charmeleon has learned [Fire Blast]!
Charmeleon understood the assignment. Looking around, it spotted a tall tree and prepared itself.
(Trees in Viridian Forest: "Why us? Every time there's a new move, it's our problem! Someone call Pokémon Conservation!")
Charmeleon gathered energy, roaring as it unleashed a massive burst of flames. The attack formed the kanji-shaped "大" (big) in the air before slamming into the tree.
"Boom!"
The tree exploded into ashes, and the surrounding area lit up as smaller trees ignited from the shockwave.
Satoshi inspected the aftermath, impressed but critical.
"The power is undeniable, but it takes longer to execute compared to [Flamethrower]. Accuracy could also use some work. Still, it's a solid move. Once Charmeleon evolves into Charizard, this will be devastating."
Realizing the potential danger of starting a wildfire, Satoshi turned to Froakie.
"Froakie, use [Bubble] to extinguish the flames!"
The Water-type Pokémon quickly complied, spitting streams of bubbles to douse the surrounding fires.
As the forest returned to calm, Satoshi pondered his next steps.
"Even with Charmeleon at level 16, this forest is still good for training. I'll keep grinding here before heading to Pewter City for my first gym battle."
The thought of Pewter City brought Gym Leader Brock to mind.
"Brock specializes in Rock-types. Charmeleon can handle his Pokémon with [Iron Tail], but Froakie will be the key to victory. I have a feeling the gym battles in this version won't be as simple as they were in my past life."
He smirked. "If today's surprises are any indication, the gym battle might throw some real curveballs. Let's just hope it doesn't leave me astonished."
