Chapter 19: Chapter:19
"Although ending it like this will cost me some experience and rewards, it's the safest choice," Satoshi muttered to himself as he disposed of two defeated Team Rocket grunts. Hiding their unconscious bodies in the bushes, he carefully made sure no evidence was left behind.
The footprints he found earlier confirmed that there were many more. But after overhearing the Rocket team members earlier, Satoshi had pieced together crucial information.
Stage 1 Mission Progress:
Help Mew escape the search team's pursuit (2/20).
"Alright, I've taken down two of them. That leaves 18," he thought, reviewing the mission tracker. "According to their intel, there are 17 junior trainers and one intermediate trainer. Not impossible, but no one's going to fight me one-on-one. I'll have to keep picking them off."
As he planned his next move, his eyes fell on a communicator one of the grunts had dropped.
"Huh, a communicator?" Satoshi smirked. "This just made my job a whole lot easier."
"Ekans, [Poison Sting]!"
The grunt barely managed to release his Pokémon before a flash of ice shot across the battlefield.
"Froakie, [Lick]! Charmeleon, cover it with [Iron Tail]!"
The combination attack overwhelmed the Ekans, knocking it out before it could retaliate. The grunt was frozen in shock—literally—as Froakie's [Freezing Beam] incapacitated him as well.
"Ding! You defeated the Rocket Team member. Reward: 500 Alliance Coins and 1 Ultra Ball."
Satoshi chuckled as he checked Froakie's status. "Still level 15, huh? Good. I can't afford you evolving yet and causing a commotion."
Charmeleon, meanwhile, had already dragged the grunt into the bushes with practiced ease.
"This is getting too easy," Satoshi mused, opening his mission tracker.
Mission Progress: 12/20
"Eight left. Let's keep going before they figure out what's happening," he said.
As Satoshi prepared to move, a soft, almost musical sound stopped him in his tracks.
"Meow?"
The delicate voice was accompanied by a faint fluttering sound. Turning around, Satoshi's eyes widened as he saw a pale pink Pokémon floating gracefully in the air.
With its long, swaying tail and tiny, baby-like hands, it was unmistakable.
"Mew…"
The mythical Pokémon regarded Satoshi with a cheerful expression, its large, curious eyes brimming with intelligence.
"It really is Mew," Satoshi whispered. "I didn't expect to find you so soon… or rather, for you to find me."
His Pokédex beeped as it scanned the Pokémon.
[Name: Mew
Type: Psychic
Ability: Synchronize
Level: 110 (Legendary)]
A legendary Pokémon, powerful and elusive, yet it seemed almost playful as it circled him.
"Why do you look so happy?" Satoshi wondered aloud. The power of Evergreen within him resonated faintly, translating Mew's emotions. It felt… joy.
The message was clear: "Finally, I've found you."
"Waiting for me? But why?" Satoshi asked, confusion evident on his face.
Mew didn't answer verbally, but it floated closer, staring at him with unwavering trust.
Before Satoshi could delve deeper into its behavior, a loud voice shattered the tranquil moment.
"There it is! I found it! Quick, call the captain!"
Two Team Rocket grunts emerged from the shadows, one frantically yelling into his communicator while the other approached aggressively.
"Kid! Step away from Mew!" the advancing grunt barked.
Mew quickly darted behind Satoshi, its playful demeanor replaced by cautious vigilance.
"You want it?" Satoshi muttered, turning to face the grunts. "Then come and get it."
The grunt sneered. "You don't know who you're dealing with, kid. Move aside, or we'll—"
"Charmeleon," Satoshi interrupted, his voice sharp, "show them why they should back off. [Fire Blast]."
End of the Chapter.
