Chapter 25: Before The Finals[2]
"Yes I am, Professor." I sniffed, trying to wipe my eyes.
"Well I would rather you spit it out than continue crying on me." He said coldly.
I noticed that, for a split second, a flame like the one that had been burning my classmates burned on his cheek, while I felt that sensation again, except that it was so faint I might have imagined it.
I managed to barely recount the events of the past minute, while his eyes narrowed further and further with each word.
He stared at me when I was done, and without another word gestured for my hand, which, when I gave him, he clamped a manacle over.
I felt an immediate difference. I could no longer feel Aether as clearly as before, as if someone had heavily blurred the lines of a drawing, while felt a subtle shift and realized that Lost was back.
I was reeling; another Mind had been in control since I got back and I didn't even notice.
That was a problem.
"With me, Hunter. It seems we have a lot to do." Astor's voice came from far away, and I followed it unthinkingly.
'Hey, Ves.'
[Hmm?]
'What is this thing?'
[It's a Aether suppression device]
'Mind showing me my Aether Capacity?'
[Aether Capacity: 2500/2500(-2100)]
'Thanks, and why am I in control again?'
[Insanity Aether. It's the source of your Split-Minds condition, and seeing at is it suppressed, I can say that it probably reconverged your scattered Minds back into a cohesive whole, like you were a normal human.]
Makes sense.
We stopped in front of the class door again, and remembering how we acted before, they probably think we're always like this, unnaturally kind and timid, but a coward.
When Astor opened the door, the kids inside were in various states of being messed up. But they all collectively screamed when they saw me again, the hurriedly scrambled back away from me, trying not to trip over themselves.
"Quiet, please, so that I can tell you the reason for your sorry state. And back to your seats" He said as he waved his hands, all the students healed. The begrudgingly go back to their chairs and sit, all eyes on me. "The reason is this immature boy behind me and his pitiful control. Power without presence of mind to direct it is nothing more than a burden, and after causing this problem, rather than try to help, he runs off in tears, only emphasizing my point."
The class, though healed, is still too traumatized to laugh at my expense. Astor continues, "An Aura is the part of your Soul that is projected out of you, given form through Aether. A truly powerful Aura signifies a truly powerful person. There are, of course, differences in Aura strength, which I well get to. But what you must know is that an Aura signifies what is in a Soul. They are mostly illusory, but can become real, but that is on the topic of Domains. An Aura's effect is also based on the Soul. Now when an overwhelmingly more powerful Aura comes in contact with weaker ones, it overpowers them, turning the other Aura into an extension of their own, which can be detrimental if the Soul is incompatible," He turned to me, "or just violent. Which is what happened to you all. I will not discredit Hunter by telling you he's weak, because even without the demonstration today, such Aura strength means he is by far the most powerful student in this school, with maybe only the other members of the Asura Squad coming close. His Aura, uncontained and uncontrolled, overpowered yours, and as his powers are currently unknown, we can only speculate that they are not fit for others, while the illusions showed us a glimpse of what lay in his Soul, which of course, his parents will be hearing of."
After this speech, Astor wrote in the air, 'Aura' on glowing letters. He announced, "Due to the unexpected circumstances of today's lesson, we will have to shift focus for a while. And since this an Application class, not a Theory class, I will not bore you with dull descriptions and instead we will be attempting to both manifest and clash Auras. Everyone pick a partner and let me demonstrate on how to manifest an Aura. But I need a volunteer for the clash..." He smiled slightly as no one raised their hands and turned to me. "It seems that no one wants to volunteer. Do you mind, seeing as that is your fault?"
"Not at all, Professor." All the better if I got to burn him.
We stood a few meters apart, and he droned on about how you had to just let your Soul bleed out into the world around you. He said that all you needed to do was compress some Aether into wherever you believed your Soul was, let it soak up whatever you believed was inside it, and project it out. When he said this, he then said he would start with the demonstration so they should watch closely.
Then, he exploded.
Every color I could imagine flowed around him like sunlit quicksilver, shifting and turning in psychedelic disarray that matched the dissonant harmony ringing through the air. He was more than a strong SonaChroma, it was almost all he was.
He looked at me with pity in his eyes, "Come on, Hunter. It can't be that hard for the mighty 'Kyran Lost Hunter'. Or don't tell me this little display has you intimidated?" He sneered.
Truthfully, it did intimidate me a bit, but I at least knew then how the process worked. I was still confused, but I pushed all my Aether into myself, without a specific point in mind, just pushing.
When all of it was drained, I closed my eyes and imagined that I was blind, and couldn't speak, without the warmth of life and as predictable as the ticking of time, with no other aspect of my life(I couldn't even call it that) other than the fact I was. I imagined that step-by-step, I regained all those sensations, countless eyes revealing the world to me, the triumphant shout escaping from my numerous lips, bringing back pain, life, thought, the Elder Host, Vessie, my Reality.
Bringing back my Aether.
Bringing back my Chaos.
Bringing back Insanity.
Bringing me back, replacing every part of myself with an aspect of my abilities.
When I finished the visualization and opened my eyes, unsure murmurs rising around me, I raised my hands and ripped of the manacle. The influx of Aether joined the visualization and took it to the next level.
I smiled and let the Aether loose.
