Chapter 18: Journey through the sea of stars
Bian stepped onto professor Min's private carrier. It had been enhanced to travel fast and comfortably, it also had all necessities needed for daily living.
"The windows have a special film on them, that way even normal humans can see the nebula of space" professor Min paused then continued "We will get to the Xue family living quarters in three days, make yourself at home. I have somethings to discuss with professor Bai"
"The last time I travelled through space, things were a bit hectic and the spacecraft was too large, I couldn't see the majesty of space." Bian found a chair and sat in front of a window.
As they soar through the infinite expanse of space, the view from the spaceship window is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Bian found himself surrounded by a tapestry of stars, their twinkling lights painting the darkness with a mesmerizing glow. A vast river of stars, stretches across the cosmos, revealing its spiral arms in intricate detail.
Clusters of stars form constellations, their shapes telling stories as old as time. Planets, like distant islands in this cosmic sea, emerge as they journey onward. A colossal orb with its swirling bands of clouds, stands as a majestic sentinel adorned with rings, a celestial masterpiece that defies description.
The spaceship glides effortlessly through the celestial ballet, taking them past colorful nebulae. A stellar nursery, beckons with its radiant hues of pink and blue, where new stars are born amidst the interstellar dust.
And then, a comet streaks by, its tail stretching across the sky like a cosmic brushstroke. It's a brief but brilliant visitor on their journey through the space, leaving Bian in silent admiration.
As they continue the voyage, Bian can't help but feel a profound connection to the universe, a tiny speck in the grand tapestry of space and time. It's a humbling reminder of the wonders that await those who dare to explore the cosmos, a breathtaking journey through the mysteries of the universe.
The next day Professor Min sat Bian down for a talk "I've waited a long time to meet you" professor Min spoke up.
Professor Min "Bian to be honest I'm astonished by your speed and accuracy when translating ancient texts, if you don't mind" he pulled out a scroll from his bag.
"This is the bone marrow strengthen qigong, it lists steps and herbs needed for a better foundation. It has been translated fifteen times but led to casualties each time with no exception."
Professor Min passed the scroll to Bian "can you try to translate it"
Bian took a look at the scroll, it wasn't written by a certified professional. That was his first impression, why?
'It contains idioms' Bian knew why they didn't get the translation right. An idiom has a peculiar meaning that cannot be derived from the conjoined meanings of its elements. An idiom in an ancient language meant for medicine, they were begging for problems.
"Professor Min, if it has been translated fifteen times did they have any other book they used as a reference"
Professor Min thought for a little bit before responding "there is another book, but it's just a contemporary book nothing special about it. Why do you ask?"
Bian responded "You're in luck then professor, there are idioms in this book. Without knowing about the expressions, we would only be able to take a guess at their meanings but with a contemporary book..."
Professor Min instantly understood they would understand a lot of nuances about the texts and finally translate it properly. He looked Bian as though he was a monster.
'Just by reading it, he instantly found the problem. This boy might really have a solution to the Xue family's problem.'
Professor Min asked "and you want three copies of jadeskin after fixing their problems right?"
Bian nodded his head. Professor Min sighed 'although they don't want to spread the geno art, if it's just three there shouldn't be any problems'
Professor Min talked and Bian listened, Bian thought he was already at the pinnacle but found himself learning many more things. Eventually the conservation stooped, the professor brought out another piece of paper.
He set it before Bian, gave him a pen and paper and put down a timer of 30 minutes.
"Another test?" Bian asked.
"The last one" professor Min said.
'This is difficult' Bian instantly found out this was nothing like what he had been doing, he struggled to answer the questions even with mental point targeting. Just as he finished the test the timer rang.
Professor Min took the paper and bid him goodnight. "What was that" Bian just did the test of his life. He went to sleep after going through the questions using mental point targeting, ensuring he would be able to answer it with ease next time.
...
When they landed on the ice cold planet the Xue family didn't waste their time. They were taken to a hall where the frost sutra was displayed.
Bian read each and every character present, the use of camera and other recording devices were prohibited but Bian now had a copy in his head. He spoke up "does everyone practice jadeskin and frost sutra here?"
Xue Feiyan, the most talented in jadeskin among their generation coldly answered "where else would we practice it". Most of the Xue family members didn't even know of the problem with jadeskin.
Countless experts have tried and failed, yet someone in her age group claimed to find a solution. It infuriated Xue Feiyan.
Bian continued "and why do you practice it in cold environments"
Bai Yishan and Min Tai perked up their ears.
Xue Feiyan spoke "because that's how it's meant to be practiced."
Bian said with a cocky smile "care to show me where they specified to stay in cold environments while practicing?"
'What nonsense is he spouting' Xue Feiyan thought, then she looked for where they wrote it.
'Huh where is it' it wasn't in the qigong, they just assumed the frost in frost sutra meant to be practiced with ice.
"When can I expect my rewards" Bian asked while clearing his nails.
Xue Feiyan looked at him in awe, to be able to solve their problems in seconds. She spoke up "forgive me for my earlier attitude" she then called for someone and handed over three geno solutions and chips containing jadeskin.
Xue Feiyan added "if you can wait for a few days the patriarch will--"
"I need to get back to school, sorry" Bian interrupted not interested in meeting a demigod.
"I see, then do you know how we can stop the madness" Xue Feiyan asked, her attitude towards Bian had taken a huge leap.
"Practice it normally without the cold, for starters leave this iceblock and find somewhere warm to live. That should work."
Bai Yishan and Min Tai nodded their heads in agreement.
They soon made their way back to the spaceship and flew towards alliance central military academy.
On the way back, Bian looked through the windows for the entire three days mesmerized by the sea of stars.
'Something is missing' he looked to his left and right.
He was viewing this sight alone.
...
In another room
Professor Min showed Bai Yishan a paper with a perfect score. Professor Min said "this is the make up test for alliance central military academy last year, a freshman just aced the exams."
Bai Yishan smiled wryly "you think the difficulty is too low?"
"Quite the contrary I think he's wasting his time" professor Min said while smiling.
