Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Punishment
"Grandpa, I don't trust him, it's best to keep an eye on him," Xin Yan frowned as she looked at middle-aged man with disdain and disgust visible in her eyes.
She didn't bother to hide the hatred she felt for him. It wasn't necessary at all.
"Grandpa, if it's possible, I can keep him locked up in my house, the guards at my place are really efficient," Li Qiang spoke up.
'No!' He yelled in his heart. He hoped the old man didn't agree. Agreeing was akin to sending him to his grave. He was helpless but what could he do.
He clenched his fists tightly as he hoped the old man wouldn't agree. He was dead meat if he was sent to Li Qiang's place.
Li Qiang had gained the title of the devil and it wasn't just mere sayings. He was really vicious in his ways. He didn't want to be sent to him.
It was better to confess rather than to be sent to his early grave.
"I will confess, there's no need to send the bottle to the research centre, I will say what that bottle is really meant for," he gave up. He really could not fight against the both of them.
"Say it," Xin Yan ordered.
"That bottle contains poison, the kind that kills slowly, just as young miss said, it first starts with the eyes making the person who takes it lose his or her eyesight," he explained to them.
He really regretted it. He gritted his teeth in regret but it was too late. Too late!
"How long have you been feeding it to them?" Li Qiang questioned staring at him which caused him to feel pressured.
"For the past few months, it is expected that they next month," he weakly explained as he closed his eyes. His end was determined, he was going to die.
"How did you come in contact with such poison?" Xin Yan was aware of the truth, it was Jiang Lanfen but she wanted to know the relationship between the both of them.
Butler Yu hesitated for a moment. He had conflicting thoughts. Should he say the truth or not? Should he protect the person behind him or not?
After a few moments of silence, he opened his mouth to say, "I did it of my own accord," he replied in a voice which was barely a whisper.
"Heh!" Xin Yan let out a scoff. She knew he wasn't going to say the truth. But she didn't bother to expose him.
In fact, it made her curious about the relationship they both shared. Before she died, Jiang Lanfen didn't bother to mention about the relationship they both shared.
She didn't bother to expose him or point out the truth. What fun could it be? She still needed to play with Jiang Lanfen. Right now, she only needed to find out the truth.
"Grandfather, he needs to be sent to jail," Xin Yan mercilessly cut his route of escape.
He nodded,.agreeing with Xin Yan. Infact, it was better this way. Sending him to jail was much more better, at least he could protect the person who had given him the order.
"I think sending him to jail is a light punishment, how about I take him to the correctional center owned by me?" Li Qiang tilted his head as he waited for the girl's answer.
"I think that's a good idea, grandma, grandpa, don't stop me, this man tried to hurt you, what could have happened if I wasn't perceptive enough?" Xin Yan tried to make her grandparents understand.
"You need not explain Yanyan, we believe in both you and Qiang's judgement, just do as you deem fit," grandpa Xin basically gave his permission.
"Then it seems I can't spend the night here today, I will have to accompany Li Qiang," Xin Yan had already changed her way of addressing him. She wasn't even aware of it.
"It's fine, you both can head home," grandma Xin looked as though she was chasing them out of the house but that wasn't her intention.
She only wanted the both of them to establish a good relationship. It was her only hope. Her time on earth was short, she only wanted her granddaughter to have someone who cares for her.
When they were about leaving, Xin Yan didn't forget to inform them to visit the hospital to clear their systems of the poison. She would have suggested they went today but it was too late and it was past their bedtime.
Li Qiang didn't say anything but butler Yu was aware he had to follow the couple. He knew the people whom were waiting for him outside. He couldn't stand a beating from them so he obediently walked out with them.
Once he approached the grandparents, he hoped to actually receive a scolding. This would mean that he actually had a place in their heart.
But he totally underestimated himself. The old man only snorted with pride, not willing to look at him as he turned his head away from him, completely ignoring him.
Grandma Xin's attitude was even worse. She directly stared at him and this caused him to cower in fright. She didn't put such trash in her eyes. He was basically nobody to her.
'Forget it, I'm really nothing, they don't even feel uncomfortable that I had tried to kill them, what sort of people were the Xins?' He questioned himself in self-pity as he looked at them with an incredulous look.
"Get in the car Yanyan," Li Qiang opened up the door for her.
"I'm sorry Li Qiang but my driver is waiting for me," Xin Yan declined. She had come with her car and of course, she had pride.
"There's nothing wrong and besides, I feel he can drive butler Yu to my place, I will have you dropped off at home."
With Li Qiang putting it that way, she had no choice than to listen to him. Now that she thought of it, it was more convenient that way.
"Fine, but please make sure they are some of your bodyguards present in the car with him, I don't trust him, he might try to harm my driver," Xin Yan looked at butler Yu with disgust visible all over her face while folding her arms.
"Even if given a chance to run away, I won't do so, you have the backing of the richest man in the country, I will be a fool if I decide to run away," his eyes reflected the self-pity he had for himself.
"It's good you are self-aware, it will be challenging to explain it to you," Xin Yan snorted before she boarded the car.
Li Qiang calmly looked at butler Yu for some seconds before retrieving his gaze and entering the car.
Butler Yu heaved a sigh even though he knew he wasn't safe. But it was better this way, at least he didn't have to face his scary look. Who could stand the pressure the big devil emitted just from his eyes.
"Let's go," he suddenly heard a gruff voice and he nodded weakly.
'Was it too late to run away now?' He asked himself but if he did, he was just digging a grave for himself so he decided against it as he obediently followed the guard to Xin Yan's car.
