In the days that followed, the wars that had once raged with ferocity began to dwindle, quieting as if some unseen hand had stilled the flames of conflict. The cause was not one of peace but of disbelief and confusion. The shock of the great city's vanishing, along with its countless adventurers, merchants, and mercenaries from distant realms, created a void—one that could not be filled by mere words or promises. This tragedy served as a stark reminder of the perilous nature of such occupations, and soon, many a seasoned warrior, trader, and craftsman hung up their blades, their wares, their hopes.
With the disappearance of Voltan's citizens, so too vanished the guardians of the Dark and Schillminster Forests. These were the wild, untamed places where monsters of all manners thrived, but now their hunters, those brave souls who kept their terrors at bay, were no more. The beasts, unchallenged and emboldened, spread like wildfire across the borders, clawing at the very edges of human settlements. Once kept in check, the lands bordering these forests were now besieged, for the monsters no longer feared the swords or arrows of men. And so, the danger grew, unchecked and unrelenting.
In the markets of the kingdom, the prices of monster materials soared beyond reason as the supply of such wares dwindled to nothing. Once a plentiful commodity, now a rarity that only the wealthiest could afford. Even the nobles—those once distant from such concerns—felt the sting of scarcity. Lands that had once flourished under their rule began to wither, their coffers drained as the lifeblood of trade dried up. Their servants, their soldiers, even their traders—all reduced to nothing as fewer hands remained to tend the fields, to hunt the wilds, to secure the riches that had once flowed so freely.
No longer did the rich sit comfortably behind their gilded walls. The great houses that had once thrived on the misery of the common folk found their wealth slipping through their fingers like sand in a dying hourglass. The demand for goods and services skyrocketed, yet the supply remained forever diminished. Nobles, once unshaken by the hardships of commoners, now found themselves staring into an abyss of empty vaults and dwindling power. The lands, once abundant with coin and riches, began to dry up as though a great curse had befallen them.
It was in these times that the plight of the common people grew ever more dire. Those who had lived from paycheck to paycheck, scraping together enough coin to fill their bellies, now found themselves starved not just of food but of hope. The rich, those who had once controlled the flow of wealth, now watched helplessly as their own fortunes crumbled, and in their desperation, they turned their eyes to the places where the monsters still roamed.
In this age of turmoil, only a few places remained untouched by the hand of despair. The monster city, ruled by the Dark Queen, flourished in this new age of chaos, as monsters continued their hunt without a care for the fall of Voltan. Likewise, the city of the Siglinde family, long known for its ties to the darker corners of the world, thrived amidst the chaos, its walls teeming with creatures that cared little for the troubles of men. These cities, untethered by the needs and wants of the human world, grew stronger while the kingdom crumbled around them.
The rich were no longer secure in their wealth. The nobles, once untouchable, found themselves grasping at straws, unable to maintain their control. Their cities, their lands, their once-pristine homes became battlegrounds where the rich and poor alike fought for survival. For the commoners, once more at the mercy of the elite, this was yet another cruel reminder of how quickly fortunes could turn.
The people, once forced to bow and scrape before the nobles, now found their own survival in their hands. As the monsters prowled the borders, and the kingdom spiraled into ruin, there was no safety to be found, neither for the powerful nor the weak. In this dark age, only those who adapted, who dared to live without the old order, would survive. And so, as the noble families of Dal bled their wealth into the sands, the common folk could only hope that they, too, would find a way to survive.
---
Just like that, a year flew by.
Monster City, Castle Black, Dragon Pond.
"Master, there is a human who wants to see you!" Sophia, the head maid, walked in front of me and spoke.
"Human?" I was a little puzzled. Isn't it too fast? It happened much quicker than anticipated—too quickly, in fact, and now I'm left wondering if I let too many opportunities slip through my fingers. Did someone connect so many dots with me and even find my connection with the Siglinde family?
No, wait, humans are looking for a black dragon, right?
"What human?"
I was interested. And mere humans can see me if they want to? Then this black dragon is too unreasonable!
"That human brought a cart full of gold coins, silver coins, and treasures, and she came here with your subordinate Roy. He said you would like to meet her..." Sophia said with some embarrassment.
If it was an ordinary human being, it would have been eaten long ago, but she came with Roy, so why does she want to see the Lord?
But this group of people is obviously unusual, and there are gifts.
If someone came to be a family member, wouldn't it be the end of the calf? She was afraid of missing a major event, so she could only come and let the Dragon Lord decide.
"Roy brought her here? Well, then bring them in!" I spoke.
Since someone brought a gift, came with Roy, and he gave his word, then let's take a look first. Roy wasn't foolish enough not to know how I like things, so it must be very interesting.
After a while, a person covered in a black robe walked in.
I looked at the other person's bumpy hourglass figure—it was a woman!
The woman in black took off her long robe and revealed herself.
She wore a fiery red off-the-shoulder princess dress, her beautiful collarbone looming, and the material of the dress seemed a little transparent, reflecting light slightly.
The hem of the skirt curved from low to high, gracefully puffed up, revealing the girl's pair of jade-like white and slender legs. The diamonds dotted at the corners of the skirt were like countless beautiful morning dews.
And the long fiery red hair was full of temptation...
She performed a standard royal etiquette to me!
"Your Excellency, the Great Black Dragon, Sophia, the third princess of the Kingdom of Del, greets you!" Laysa glanced at me and quickly lowered her head.
Unexpectedly, this black dragon seems more powerful than she ever imagined!
She had seen the portrait of the Dark Queen, the female black Dragoness, hanging in the royal castle of Albit Kingdom. But this creature—this towering figure—was nothing like the one in the portrait. That image, painted after her infamous assault on the city and her subsequent declaration of dominion, depicted a far smaller version of the Dark Queen, but she was nothing compared to him. This was something far more intimidating—a power she could certainly wield to her advantage.
Such a strong being can definitely help her!
"The Princess of the Kingdom of Del, you say? Interesting..." I muttered, the pieces finally clicking into place. The villainous-looking prince is from the Kingdom of Del—one of the so-called neutral powers that had somehow managed to stay out of the conflict during the last decade of war among the kingdoms on this huge continent.
Now there is a princess from the Kingdom of Del, which is really interesting!
"Don't talk nonsense. What is your purpose? Tell me directly. The patience of a true dragon is limited!" I released the dragon power.
I leaned over to look at the other person. Obviously, this gal didn't come here just for this.
"I want to ask you to help me with one thing!" Laysa was startled. Even though she was rich in the city and had a strong psychological quality, she felt panicked, even when she was so frightened.
But thinking of the purpose of her opening, she still gritted her teeth and spoke.
"Mortal, do you think you can drive the great black dragon with a cart of gold coins?" I sprayed a white mist from my nose.
My mouth almost touched Laysa's cheek, giving her great psychological pressure.
"Your Excellency, the Great Black Dragon, that's not what I mean. I'm here to discuss cooperation with you!" Laysa calmed down and said.
"And that carload of gold coins is nothing!" Laysa began to dig out things from her magic tool.
In an instant, two huge mountains of gold coins appeared in front of me.
There were also countless pearls and gems that formed a huge gem mountain.
I stood there, momentarily at a loss for words. The wealth and resources she seemed to offer were more than I had expected. My mind couldn't help but wonder—had she just emptied the royal treasury? The audacity to present such a vast amount seemed almost too bold.
The damn rulers are all rich!
"For the sake of these treasures, I allow you to elaborate!" I said.
"Your Excellency, the Great Black Dragon, I have only one purpose. I want you to help me kill my father, King Sean of the Kingdom of Del!" Laysa said decisively.
"Kill your father?" I looked at Sophia in front of me.
They are really big dutiful sons!
Kill your father at every turn!
"Hehe, I want to know the reason!" I said as I lay down on my stomach.
Laysa forced a smile and adjusted her stance. "Did you know? My father was called the greatest king in the history of the Kingdom of Del by those ministers, and it is indeed true. He governed the Kingdom of Del very well..."
"I used to admire him very much, but one day, his love for his daughter went beyond the normal range. For example, he would bring my sister with him every time, just like other princesses in the past..."
"I can't say that kind of thing!"
"I originally thought that my father was being controlled by someone or something, but then I found out that that is his greatest interest. He deliberately chooses good-looking women to be his princesses, and those born under the influence of some kind of potion are definitely daughters!"
"Because of my high magical talent, I was accepted as a student by the soon-to-be-legendary mage Gust. He didn't dare to do anything casually. After knowing this, I was very scared, so I slowly began to cultivate my own power and stayed away from the capital..."
"But my sister committed suicide when she was 11!"
I felt like I was short of peanuts and melon seeds, but I didn't expect there would be such a bloody plot. Nima is so perverted!
Your circle is really messy!
Even his own daughter's idea was pursued, and it was intentional!
"He originally planned to pass the throne to that trash Ravel, but that trash died, and now he's in a hurry. I heard he's sent someone to ask for the magic of the unicorn to restore his body..."
"Wait, you said unicorns? Celestial creature unicorns?" I interrupted Laysa.
"Yes, that kind of powerful unicorn!" Laysa said.
And I was thinking, the unicorn should be powerful and delicious, right?
"These treasures are not enough. I need more!" I withdrew my thoughts and said,
I don't want to hear these things anymore!
"In the future, the Kingdom of Del will respect you, and I can serve you. You'll be my master!" Laysa knelt directly.
"Then why don't you let your teacher come forward?" I asked, a little curious. After all, a high 17th-level mage!
"My teacher is the guardian of the kingdom. His duty is to ensure the country remains stable and strong. These beasts have done their part. These are just personal affairs..."
She made it clear what kind of royal family this was...
Setting all this aside to see a kingdom's offerings...
It sounds really good...
In this way, the ingredients needed for the feast in the future will be much easier to find.
Although the Kingdom of Del is relatively small, it is still a kingdom! It survived many wars.
"I want you to make a detailed plan, and I also need a guarantee!"
I took out a twisted seed and planted it directly in her body as a precaution.
Laysa saw my movements but didn't speak. She knew it was a means of control, yet she was happy because she finally had hope!
I knew it wasn't simple to kill a king.
In this world, even ordinary cities are guarded by magic circles.
There are also resident spellcasters and fighters.
Otherwise, humans would have been devoured by monsters long ago.
And the capital of the Kingdom of Del is definitely the most heavily guarded place.
There is also the Defender of the Kingdom, an archmage of high 17th level.
So, if I kill the king, it means I'll be an enemy of the entire Kingdom of Del.
But I didn't feel much about being an enemy of a human kingdom.
Kill them, kill them.
Some dragon slayers and the like were provoked—just an order.
Anyway, if I had enough flash, I'd run if I couldn't beat him, and I could quickly enhance my strength with the ability of Void Feast.
It's time to kill and come back!
"Your Excellency Black Dragon, I have a plan..." Laysa said directly.
Before she came, she had already made two preparations.
"Let's hear it!" I glanced at her.
"The beast usually stays in King Del, and the king doesn't leave because of the guardians of the kingdom and the powerful magic circle. The strong gather there!"
"But I can invite him out of Kars City!"
"You also said he is very cautious. Will he come out?" I asked curiously.
"Because he shamelessly desires to sire more offspring with a student who is not only a legendary and formidable guardian of the kingdom but also happens to be his daughter, there's no way he would refuse such an audacious notion!" Laysa remarked coldly, her words cutting through the air like a blade.
Not bad for a man!
The words popped into my mind.
"Then wait for my news. You will go when I ask you to invite him!" I said.
"Obey, great master!" Laysa suddenly smiled charmingly.
Even though I had already tasted Shea, under the strong desire to conquer the dragon, I still had the urge to throw her on the bed and have some fun.
But I endured it—business matters!
Under Laysa's seemingly expectant gaze, she walked out.
I looked at the treasure mountain of gold coins in front of me and felt that this feast should be stable.
After ordering everyone on alert, which is something I always do when the feast is about to begin.
A few hours later, I was ready to start the feast...
In this way, my confidence would be greater. After all, the opponent is a legendary human mage, so I still have to show respect.
But according to Laysa, her teacher's strength doesn't seem very high compared to human masters at the 17th level.
But he was still far from the legend rank.
I knew that some legendary mages were farther from legendary mages than mortals were from dragons.
The most delicious ones are infinitely stronger than the shame of the nine giant dogs.
The only way to fight is to throw chain lightning, and the only protective spell is the armor shield, and it takes a lot of effort to hit three or four stone golems.
The more powerful ones can slaughter a country single-handedly, turn the sky with one hand, shape mountains and rivers with their thoughts, deploy armies, be immortal, and live longer than the sky.
Just like the Legendary Dragons, so is the true Legendary Balor.
But if the Black Dragon Lady fights the Balrog, her fate is probably not much better than that of the Golden Dragon Geraint.
According to inheritance memory, some legendary mages are even more outrageous. They will clone and create additional bodies for themselves.
Thinking of this, I started the feast directly. I'm still a bit weak...
It's a pity that there were no special ingredients found in the gems brought by Laysa, which disappointed me a little.
