Countless arrows, fiery fireballs, and icy cones flew towards me.
With my unparalleled physique and formidable magic resistance, their feeble attempts were nothing short of laughable. It would take at least a high-tier spell—sixth tier or above—to even graze me, let alone cause anything more than a fleeting tickle.
So, I simply ignored the attacks.
I just kept chasing down those panicked griffins, like playing a game of cat and mouse.
"Can you cast air-forbidden magic?" Sean looked at the black dragon in the sky, his expression grim.
At this moment, he had no time to tend to Laysa.
"Your Majesty, it takes time to cast air-forbidden magic, and the black dragon is flying too high; it's already out of range..." the caster beside him explained.
"Damn it!"
Sean looked at the four high-ranking fighters around him. All of them were Great Swordsmen, their strength formidable.
"This is a Wind Scroll. Try your best to hold it—"
Before Sean could finish speaking, the black dragon, who had just been wreaking havoc in the sky, suddenly appeared in the convoy on the ground.
Suddenly, screams and wails resounded through the sky.
I decisively used Void Walk to appear in the convoy after accumulating enough heat.
I know well that a lion fights the rabbit with all its strength. As long as I get rid of the king, the rest will crumble.
I was less than 150 meters from where King Sean stood.
Sean could even see the tiny scales on the black dragon's body.
This shocked everyone.
However, before the spellcasters around Sean could put up their spell shields, I let out a dragon roar that resounded through the sky, interrupting all their spellcasting actions.
"Burst!"
I ignored the warriors attacking me with spears and greatswords.
This level of attack was meaningless to me.
Rumbling~
Immediately, the area within 200 meters of my position began to fill with blinding light and intense heat.
One must know that the flames on my body not only have an extremely high temperature but are also imbued with magic.
This made their fragile spell barriers utterly useless.
Coupled with the influence of my wild scream, these fools didn't have time to cast defensive magic.
After the flames subsided, the battlefield was reduced to utter chaos.
The soldiers around Sean suffered devastating casualties.
However, there was no damage within a five-meter radius of Sean, protected by a blue shield.
I took a closer look and noticed a small shield in Sean's hand.
At this time, the shield emitted a blue light, forming a protective barrier around him.
"Thanks to this Shield of Courage; otherwise, it would've been over this time!" Sean muttered, drenched in sweat as he surveyed the carnage.
At least 500 of his soldiers had died in my fiery onslaught.
And I looked at this guy. As a king, he should have some good stuff.
That thing could block my burning body explosion. Its grade was obviously not low.
I wanted it.
Thinking this, I used Void Walk to appear directly before Sean.
My massive claws reached out to grab Sean.
Sean was shocked, and a blue ring on his finger flickered.
Suddenly, his figure disappeared into thin air.
What?
I was a little surprised.
This king was obviously just an ordinary person, without any trace of magic or vindictiveness.
But he had managed to use a spell of this caliber.
It didn't matter. I began using my vibration perception skill to track his movements.
"There!"
I looked towards a forest more than 400 meters away.
It seemed his teleportation range wasn't far.
My body disappeared from the spot again.
In a quagmire, King Sean had long since lost his previous arrogance.
He had just escaped here using the space teleportation magic stored in the ring.
He was well aware that this distance wasn't safe.
That black dragon was undoubtedly a mature black dragon, far stronger than an adult one.
Its strength instilled a deep fear of dragons in him.
The black dragon in the Bone Erosion Swamp was utterly incomparable to this monster.
Just as Sean was about to teleport again, he felt an intense heat behind him.
"Bug, you can't even run as well as your mage friend, who's not even a master yet!"
My voice sounded behind him.
Sean's face turned pale as he scrambled to activate the magic again.
But I wouldn't give him the chance.
Puff~
My sharp claws severed both of his arms in one swift motion.
"What—"
As a king pampered all his life, Sean was unprepared for such agony.
The pain nearly caused him to pass out.
I retrieved two rings from Sean's severed arms.
One was a Magister's ring, a storage ring for items.
The other was older and more refined.
"A Magic Storage Ring!"
I recognized it after a brief magical examination.
This ring stored mana and could release pre-stored spells without consuming the user's energy.
This kind of equipment was rare and valuable, allowing even humans with low mana reserves to wield powerful magic.
The ring contained six space teleportation spells, ten fireball spells, three Wind Travel spells, and five Earth Wall spells—almost reaching its limit.
It has been used a few times already.
Ignoring Sean's anguished cries, I swallowed both rings. This was how dragons sometimes stored small items.
I looked at Sean again, noticing that his severed arms had already stopped bleeding.
He still had something valuable!
"This is a potent healing potion hidden in my teeth, not a magic item!" Sean stammered, enduring the pain.
He desperately wanted to live.
But I grabbed him and flew back towards the convoy.
Some of the soldiers and ministers, at this moment, saw the black dragon coming again before they had run far.
Immediately, they hated themselves for not being able to fly.
I looked at the fleeing soldiers and ministers with indifference in my eyes.
"Burst Flame Dance!"
Immediately, more than six fire dragons began to burn the lives of these human soldiers and ministers, driving them together intentionally or unintentionally.
Then I brought Sean down.
Laysa hurried over, saying, "Master, I..."
I interrupted her before she could finish speaking.
"I didn't expect you to be such a waste, to be so tightly manipulated by such a thing. You couldn't even get someone's power level right!"
"Master Black Dragon, I am the king of the Kingdom of Del. We can negotiate. As long as you let me go, I promise you that I will give you ten times what Laysa can offer!"
Sean's will to survive was quite strong.
It didn't matter if his arm was broken; there were powerful priests he could hire to grow it back.
But if his life was gone, it would truly be over.
He hadn't expected Laysa to have such a deep connection with such a powerful black dragon.
But it didn't matter. Dragons were creatures of greed and lust for profit; as long as he paid enough treasure and offered women, he was confident he would survive.
"Lord, don't listen to him! I can give you everything!" Laysa said hastily.
She was afraid the Lord would listen to Sean's words. "And he has just sent a message to the kingdom's guardian, a master-level mage!"
"I didn't!" Sean vehemently denied. "You damn bitch!" His eyes were bloodshot, and Sean felt overwhelming regret. Why hadn't he just kept her in the palace for the rest of her life?
It was all the old guy's fault, saying that a powerful magician was more flavorful.
"Oh? The kingdom's guardian, a soon-to-be legendary mage?" I remained calm. I didn't know how human legendary mages smelled.
As for cannibalism...
Just eat half, then!
Thinking of this, I wasn't in a hurry. I looked at Laysa and ordered, "Abolish this guy!"
Laysa was overjoyed when she heard this. She could finally take revenge. She drew her long sword and stabbed directly into Sean's lower body.
Suddenly, an indescribable scream echoed around...
---
Seeing Sean's miserable state, I felt a little pity.
However, the hardness of my D is not comparable to that of ordinary creatures. Even if he came at me like this, I was confident it wouldn't be injured.
Immediately after Sean's screams, Laysa cut off his legs with her sword and stabbed his eyes.
I could only think: this bitch is really cruel...
I hadn't noticed this before. Could it be the release of animalistic nature after extreme suppression?
Some ministers and soldiers who survived tightened their legs involuntarily, feeling a chill between them...
After Laysa finished, Sean was already dying, but Laysa still looked ready to exact more revenge.
"Lord, my teacher has been at the 17th level for five years. He has three top-quality items in his possession: the Gloves of Greed, the Ring of Defense, and the Heart of Recovery... and many other high-level pieces of equipment," Sofia revealed directly.
For her, since she had decided to side with the black dragon, she would follow through completely.
"It's only been five years since he reached the 17th level?" I mused.
Mages required a strong foundation, whether in spells or equipment. Newly promoted ones like him generally weren't too strong, though his rapid rise seemed unusual.
But maybe... what if he was a one-in-a-million peerless genius, the kind who just opens up?
Just as I was pondering, a sudden gust of wind swept through the sky.
I keenly sensed something unusual.
A giant blue eagle, about 12 meters long, revealed itself in the clouds.
Sitting on its back was a man wearing a blue mage robe and holding a staff.
The wind howled all around.
"Master, my teacher Gust, the kingdom's guardian, is here!" said Laysa.
She looked at her teacher with a mix of nostalgia and respect. Although she admired Gust, his indifferent attitude toward the royal family's corruption had always left her uncomfortable.
When Sean had attempted to attack her, Gust had also turned a blind eye.
"The old guy's entrance is quite grand, but he doesn't realize how strong I really am!" I stared at the giant eagle in the sky.
But deep down, my eyes gleamed at the sight of Gust's equipment.
It all looked like food!
As Gust arrived, he immediately noticed the miserable state of Sean.
Anger surged within him.
He had been consulting a unicorn about healing magic when he received Sean's message and rushed over, only to find himself a step too late.
"Black Dragon, you dare to meddle in the affairs of the human kingdom and commit such heinous acts!" Gust's blue pupils reflected my figure.
"You old man, don't pretend. You know better than anyone what this is, and I despise the hypocrisy of you humans!" I said mercilessly.
"Since His Majesty Sean took the throne, he has been diligent in managing the kingdom, with the full support of all the nobles..." Gust was slightly irritated. He was a 17th-level archmage, yet this black dragon, not even at the master level, dared to insult him.
What about the pride of being a dragon?
"And Laysa, I didn't expect you to betray the kingdom!" Gust glared at her.
"Master Gust, you're finally here. We've been waiting for you for so long!" Prime Minister Egbert exclaimed, as if he had seen salvation.
To him, no matter how powerful the black dragon was, it couldn't possibly match a near-legendary archmage.
I looked down at the clamoring human and spat a mouthful of acid at Egbert.
"Do you wish to die?"
Gust could no longer bear it when he saw me take action before him.
"Ah, the classic case of a tiny fish in a big pond trying to act tough."
I used Void Walk and appeared directly behind Gust in an instant. After a wild scream, my dragon claws directly grabbed Gust's back.
"Wind Wall!"
When Gust tried to release defensive magic, the magic power in his body was disrupted by my dragon roar. The unformed magic shattered under my paw.
Just as I was about to capitalize on my advantage and crush him to death, a ring on Gust's body emitted a burst of light. Cracks appeared on the cyan protective shield, but it ultimately blocked my dragon claws. My claws slipped and pierced deeply into the body of the giant eagle beneath Gust.
The giant eagle wailed in pain, its wings fluttering incessantly, but its body couldn't escape from one of my claws.
While looking at Gust levitating in the air, I noticed the ring on his hand.
'Top-quality equipment, constant defense and flight skills, with power enhanced by the magic of a seventh-tier barrier spell!'
"Damn it..." Gust felt a pang of fear. Thankfully, he had top-quality equipment; otherwise, that claw would have seriously injured him.
The spatial magic, the roar that interrupts casting, and the sneak attack—this black dragon was hard to deal with!
Realizing this, Gust grew more cautious. He took out something resembling an oil lamp and then retrieved a necklace, placing it around his neck.
The Holy Light Shield granted immunity to most negative effects of the same level for 10 minutes.
So many good things...
The sight of Gust's items made me a little jealous.
"Wind Blade Art!"
With a swing of his staff, Gust created dozens, perhaps hundreds, of wind blades that formed around him. The blades hurtled toward me.
But I didn't defend myself. Instead, I grabbed the giant eagle and gnawed on it, relishing the excitement brought by its blood.
The wind blades struck my body one by one, yet none managed to penetrate my scale armor.
"Scraping? This is good—very comfortable!" I tossed the giant eagle's body aside.
"What?"
Seeing that his Wind Blade Art hadn't caused any damage, Gust was stunned. Even a black dragon shouldn't be able to disregard his wind blades entirely without sustaining injury!
"The Wind Blows the Clouds!"
As Gust cast his next spell, I roared loudly to interrupt him.
"Roar!"
But this time, Gust resisted the disruption, slightly flinching as he continued to channel magic. A powerful whirlwind erupted, the air slicing like a thousand knives. The whirlwind's cutting force was sharper and more intense than anything Gust had unleashed before.
"Flame Body!"
Golden-red flames enveloped my body.
"Burst Flame Dance!"
Simultaneously, more than a dozen fire dragons materialized around me. With them surrounding me like a blazing inferno, I launched myself at Gust like a ballistic missile.
Gust, fully alert, watched as I broke through the whirlwind barrier and rushed directly toward him.
Staring coldly, Gust observed that nearly 20% of the magic power stored in his defensive ring had been consumed in a single blow. The impact of the dragon's claws was truly devastating.
However, he failed to notice the faint golden threads beginning to glow on my scales.
Puff!
This time, the cyan shield failed to block my claws. My talons tore through Gust's body, sending a spray of blood into the air—along with one of Gust's legs.
The cyan oil lamp in his hand flickered, and Gust vanished from sight.
"What?"
I scanned the now-empty sky. Did he disappear? No, it's invisibility.
Invisibility, huh? I like hide-and-seek the best...
Two hundred meters away, Gust grimaced as he inspected his severed leg. He clutched the oil lamp tightly.
"You must help me this time, or you'll never be free!" Gust demanded.
"Hehe, freedom is overrated. I'll just wait for another chance after you die," replied a lazy voice from the oil lamp.
"How about this: you serve me for another ten years, and I'll set you free!" Gust proposed after a moment's thought.
"Your promises are worth as much as dirt!" the voice from the lamp retorted scornfully.
"I'll make a contract witnessed by the gods!" Gust countered.
"A contract? Make it now!" The voice hesitated.
"No problem!"
Suddenly, Gust glanced nervously in my direction. "That black dragon seems to have noticed us!"
"Impossible, you should—"
"Careful!"
A blue-white beam of light struck Gust's position directly.
"Little bug, did you think you could hide from me?" I said as I stopped the stream of acid. This air-based invisibility spell was no match for my vibration perception.
My careful fighting wasn't out of fear of killing him but to avoid damaging my future possessions.
After all, they were all my treasures.
"What?!"
As my acid breath dissipated, a giant, blue-skinned creature materialized in front of Gust. Its upper body was humanoid, adorned with various ornaments, while its lower body was a swirling tornado.
In its hands, it gripped a strange, oversized blade.
"Air Djinn!"
