Reborn in Danmachi as a Dragon-Kin (Rewrite)

Chapter 136: Chapter 131

After Vasileios' status was updated, he quickly exited Bahamut's room, eager to showcase his newfound abilities.

He expected Michalis to rush into the room after he opened the door, but was surprised to see that he was still sprawled on the floor, staring blankly at the ceiling.

"Are you okay?" Vasileios asked, feeling a pang of guilt for having shoved him so forcefully moments earlier.

There was a hint of concern in his voice as he approached Michalis.

Michalis took a moment to respond, his tone unusually monotone.

"I am," he said, his gaze unfocused.

Vasileios furrowed his brow, perplexed by his brother's behaviour.

"Then why are you still on the floor?" he asked, gesturing to Michalis' prone position.

"Contemplating the futility of life," Michalis replied, his words laced with a philosophical weight that caught Vasileios off guard.

"Huh, did you hit your head too hard or something?" Vasileios asked, his confusion evident.

"Because right now, you don't sound very sane." he said.

Michalis took a deep breath, as if gathering his thoughts.

"I assure you, I am quite sane," he said, his eyes finally focusing on Vasileios.

"I've simply come to realize how..." He trailed off, his attention drawn to the movement across the room.

Eleni had just risen up from her spot, and Michalis knew what she was going to do.

Quickly he scrambled to his knees, hastily crawling into Bahamut's room, much to Vasileios' shock.

"Tsk, he should have remained like that," Eleni muttered, her annoyance palpable as she sat back down.

Clair, who had witnessed the entire exchange, couldn't help but contemplate Michalis' childish behaviour.

'Ugh, it's painful to watch how childish he is,' she thought, wondering if this was how Draco had perceived her as well.

Earlier in the evening, Vasiliki had informed Clair about Michalis' crush on her during their conversation.

Clair had become increasingly self-aware of Michalis since then, but found it difficult to suddenly change her perception of him, and his subsequent actions weren't exactly helping her.

He was more like a goofy brother than a potential romantic partner.

The only time she had felt a tiny hint of attraction that was non-familial in nature was when he had helped her after she was injured in the dungeon the previous day.

'Sigh, stop thinking about silly things and sort yourself first,' Clair chided herself, trying to push aside the thoughts.

'Now how do I deal with the situation, now that I know about it?' she pondered.

Vasiliki, observing Clair's contemplative expression, couldn't help but shake her head in disappointment.

'Should I tell Michalis that Clair knows about his crush on her, so he can shape up? Or should I just wait and see how things play out?' she wondered.

Draco, meanwhile, had blocked out the entire scene, focusing intently on his meditation.

Vasileios had wanted to share his updated status sheet with him, but seeing him engaged in his practice, he decided to wait and instead took a seat next to Nikolaos.

"So, did you get any good skills?" Nikolaos asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Hmm, not anything with a cheesy name like your 'bone crusher' skill," Vasileios teased, "but it's not bad." he added.

Nikolaos wanted to smack Vasileios for taking a jab at his skill name, but he held back, knowing there was some truth to the assessment.

"Let me see your status sheet," Nikolaos said, snatching the document from Vasileios' hands.

Vasileios didn't mind, so be didn't resist, and Nikolaos began perusing the information.

"What's this cringe-worthy skill name, 'revenge counter'?" Nikolaos asked, barely containing his laughter.

"And you have the gall to call mine cheesy?" he said.

"Why you!" Vasileios exclaimed, immediately pouncing on Nikolaos, and the two boys fell into another tussle.

Vasiliki, curious about Vasileios' new skill, picked up the status sheet that had fallen during the melee, eager to see what her brother had acquired.

'This unfair skill effect seems quite intriguing,' Vasiliki mused, examining the details more closely.

'I wonder if it applies to magic attacks as well, or is it limited to just physical strikes?' The vagueness of that part left her slightly perplexed.

Letting out a contemplative sigh, she continued, 'Overall, it's not a bad skill though. Looks like everyone is getting some impressive abilities this time around too.' she thought.

Gathering Vasileios' updated status sheet, she added it to the growing stack before returning to sit beside Draco.

...…..

Meanwhile, in Bahamut's room, Michalis anxiously awaited the update to his adventurer status.

He didn't have any specific skill in mind that he desired, but he simply wanted one that wouldn't put him at a disadvantage compared to the others.

And his wish was granted, as he had an interesting skill amongst the three options he was presented.

Hunter and abnormal resistance were, of course, the first two options.

Their requirements were known, so they were easy to trigger, and therefore expected.

However to his pleasant surprise, the final option presented to him proved to be quite intriguing – a skill called "Scenting Blood." The description read, "Being near a badly wounded enemy spurs you into a frenzy, driving you to move at a faster speed towards them to deliver a critical blow." This was a situational speed boosting plus damage skill that would be invaluable in the dungeon if used right.

While he couldn't be sure if it was truly better than the "Hunter" development ability, the allure of having a unique skill for himself was too tempting to pass up.

Moreover, it seemed well-suited to his personal combat style, which further cemented his decision.

With his choice made, Bahamut updated Michalis' status, officially granting him the title of a Level 2 Adventurer.

Feeling a bit excited, Michalis exited the room to summon the next person in line.

Seeing Michalis emerge, Eleni turned to Clair and politely inquired, "Do you want to go in first?" Clair contemplated the offer briefly before shaking her head.

"No, I'm fine with being last," she said, her gaze briefly flickering towards Draco.

"Or second to last," she corrected, remembering his intention to go last.

"I see," Eleni replied, then turned and entered Bahamut's room.

Michalis looked around the corridor and saw that Draco was busy.

Wondering what to do next, his gaze landed on Clair, who was now alone since Eleni had left.

'Should I approach her' he wondered, but soon came to a decision.

Michalis decided to go and sit next to Clair.

Just a few steps away from her, Michalis suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.

Immediately his eyes instinctively scanned the area for the source.

Soon he found it, his gaze stopping on Vasiliki, who was seated next to Draco, smiling playfully in his direction.

When their eyes met, Vasiliki winked at him, an action that sent Michalis' suspicions into overdrive.

'What is she up to?' he wondered, his eyes narrowing as he tried to decipher her intentions.

Vasiliki, noticing Michalis' reaction, quickly surmised his thoughts.

'How silly, he's so easy to read. I was just giving my support to him for trying to talk to Clair alone, but his expression says he suspects I'm up to something devious.' she mused.

Deciding to avert her gaze in the hope of appeasing Michalis' concerns, Vasiliki turned her attention elsewhere.

However, Michalis, being cautious, opted not to approach Clair as he had initially planned.

Instead, he made his way towards Nikolaos and Vasileios, who were still engaged in their banter, hoping to avoid any potential mischief from Vasiliki.

'Phew, that was nerve-wracking,' Clair thought in relief.

She became a bit nervous when she saw Michalis approaching her.

Clair wasn't quite sure why she suddenly felt this way, and she couldn't exactly refuse if he decided to proceed with sitting next to her, as that would seem odd to the others.
