REBORN IN X-MEN

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Phase Two

---

Location: Unknown Facility

The facility was a labyrinth of steel and shadows, humming with concealed technology. In the heart of the complex, Mr. Sinister stood before a series of screens displaying live footage of Jade, Logan, and Deadpool trudging through the Canadian wilderness. The aftermath of their escape had left the surrounding forest in disarray, a stark contrast to Sinister's pristine, sterile control room.

"They underestimate the intricacy of my work," Sinister mused, his voice smooth yet tinged with malice.

An assistant, clad in a white lab coat, approached cautiously. "Sir, the subject is progressing faster than anticipated. His mutation is... unique."

Sinister's crimson eyes gleamed. "Unique is an understatement. He is the perfect amalgamation of raw potential and instability—a living weapon in its purest form."

The assistant hesitated before speaking again. "What about Wolverine and Deadpool? They've already disrupted the experiment. Should we neutralize them?"

A wicked smile curved Sinister's lips. "No. Let them play their part. Their interference will push Jade to his limits. Only then will he begin to understand his true nature."

With a wave of his hand, Sinister activated a holographic map of the region. "Prepare the next stage. Deploy the Reavers. And make sure they know: the boy must be taken alive."

Jade followed Logan and Deadpool as they made their way through the dense forest. The air was crisp, each breath laced with the scent of pine and snow. Despite the cold, Jade felt warmth radiating from within—a side effect of the power coursing through him.

Logan stopped abruptly, sniffing the air. "We're not alone."

Deadpool unsheathed his katanas with a theatrical flourish. "Oh, good! I was getting bored. Hopefully, it's not more of those generic goons with the bad aim."

Jade tensed, his newly-formed claws itching to extend. "What is it?"

Before Logan could answer, a metallic screech tore through the silence. From the shadows emerged a group of cybernetically enhanced soldiers—the Reavers. Their mechanical limbs gleamed under the pale moonlight, and their leader, a towering figure with a plasma cannon for an arm, stepped forward.

"Logan," the leader growled, his voice distorted by his mechanical enhancements. "We've been looking for you."

Logan's claws extended with a menacing snikt. "Donald Pierce. Should've figured you'd crawl out of the woodwork."

Pierce smirked. "I'm not here for you this time, old man. The boy's coming with us."

Deadpool stepped between them, raising a hand. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on. Nobody's taking the kid—unless you brought snacks. Did you bring snacks?"

Pierce ignored him, raising his cannon. "Take them down."

The forest erupted into chaos as the Reavers charged. Logan met them head-on, his claws slashing through metal and flesh alike. Deadpool darted between enemies, his katanas a blur as he delivered witty insults between strikes.

Jade hung back, unsure of his role in the fight. His body still felt foreign, his powers unrefined. But when a Reaver lunged at him, instinct took over. His claws extended, and he deflected the attack, sending his opponent crashing into a tree.

"Not bad, rookie!" Deadpool called out, slicing through another Reaver. "But you've got to work on your flair! Maybe a catchphrase? Something like 'Shock and Claw!'"

Jade ignored him, focusing on the fight. The energy within him built with every movement, and he soon found himself moving faster, hitting harder. A group of Reavers surrounded him, their weapons aimed at his chest.

"Stay down, kid," one of them sneered.

Jade's eyes glowed as electricity crackled around him. "Not a chance."

With a roar, he unleashed a shockwave that sent the Reavers flying. The ground beneath him scorched, leaving a circular burn mark in his wake.

Logan glanced back, his expression unreadable. "You've got power, kid. But power without control is a liability."

Despite their strength, the trio was outnumbered. For every Reaver they took down, two more appeared, their reinforcements seemingly endless.

Jade fought with everything he had, but exhaustion was setting in. His claws retracted against his will, and the energy that had fueled him moments ago now felt like a burden.

Pierce seized the opportunity, firing a tranquilizer dart into Jade's neck.

"Kid!" Logan roared, charging toward him. But before he could reach Jade, a group of Reavers tackled him to the ground.

Deadpool attempted to intervene but was overwhelmed by the sheer number of enemies.

Jade's vision blurred as the sedative took hold. The last thing he saw was Pierce standing over him, a triumphant smirk on his face.

"Phase Two begins now," Pierce said, lifting Jade's unconscious body.

Logan and Deadpool were left battered but alive as the Reavers retreated, taking Jade with them.

Logan slammed his fist into the ground, his claws retracting. "Damn it! I should've seen this coming."

Deadpool sat up, brushing snow off his suit. "Well, this sucks. I liked the kid. He had potential. And great hair."

Logan glared at him. "This isn't over. We're getting him back."

Deadpool's eyes narrowed behind his mask. "Damn right we are. But if this Sinister guy wants him that badly, it means the kid's more than just a science experiment."

Logan stood, his expression grim. "Then we need answers. And I know where to start."

***

Jade awoke in a glass chamber, his body restrained by glowing bands of energy. Sinister's voice echoed through the chamber, cold and clinical.

"Welcome to the next chapter of your evolution, Jade. You're about to become something far greater than you ever imagined."

Jade struggled against the restraints, his claws extending, but they shattered like glass against the bands.

Sinister's face appeared on a monitor, his smile devoid of warmth. "Don't fight it, child. This is your destiny."

The room filled with a blinding light, and Jade screamed as the next experiment began.
