Red Nara

Chapter 395: Chapter 87

It didn't even last ten seconds! I was ashamed to even look at such a pathetic thing! After all, one could at least guess that the Uchiha would definitely use genjutsu and prepare for it properly, and the fact that the Suna candidates were also kept in the dark about their first battles I just don't believe!

The stunned silence that hung over the stadium made it clear that no one had expected such a swift reprisal, and the mocking roar from somewhere in the shinobi sector made the situation worse.

- The winner is Uchiha Kotoko! - announced the judge, making sure that the second genin was not going to get up.

I don't know what to say. Hopefully the next bouts will be a little more entertaining and less fast-paced. The Uchiha did a good job of getting the fight over with so quickly, but the spectators weren't satisfied. The loser was promptly dragged from the arena, and the next pair, from Waterfall and Lightning, quickly took his place.

As I lazily watched the girl throwing a pile of throwing weapons at her opponent, and the latter trying to get closer, since he obviously specialized in taijutsu, I leaned against the wall and yawned. God, even students in their final year at the academy can show more than the so-called chunin candidates!

Of course, that was mostly due to Senju and not the original training system, but to train such blatant meat? No, it's understandable that the war had just recently ended and they needed to release the replenishment as quickly as possible beforehand, but to allow such people to demonstrate the village's capabilities? Of course, other villages had sent far from the best here as well, but the masters? Or did they simply have no others? Most likely.

At the next fight I was a bit more excited - Suna genin, who went up against a dark-skinned genin from Kumo, showed very good command of a short tanto against a longer sword of the opponent and even managed to spend wind chakra on the blade and a couple of times hit the target, not badly, but wounding the opponent.

But that was the end of his success - the swarthy boy was not so simple - he jumped back and slammed his bloody palm on the ground, summoning a creature in a puff of smoke. It turned out to be a marten about the size of his knee and black and white in color. In spite of its not very formidable appearance, the call proved to be quite fast and with very sharp claws, so that Suna genin almost instantly found himself in an awkward position under attack from both sides at once, and having received several serious wounds, threw away the white flag.

In the fourth fight, it was ours again - the kid Senju from Kay's team against the kunoichi Takigakure. And he was the first to use ninjutsu from the very beginning of the tournament, practically crushing the suiton-wielding girl with the sheer power of his dōton.

With most of the sand around you turning into a mound of sharp stakes and several huge blocks of stone flying at you, there's not much an ordinary genin can do in a confined space. I wrinkled my nose at the short scream and the crunch of breaking bones, but I was glad that, unlike the others, our genin didn't need medical attention yet.

But I doubt that this situation will last long enough - in two fights Sasori will be in the arena against our clanless shinobi. Even though he's still a child, even an eight year old would be deadly with such a family, so we can only wish Naoho-chan good luck and do her best, otherwise her survival will be in doubt, not to mention her victory.

The fifth fight was fairly quick and boring, with the blonde Kumo girl taking out the last genin Taki almost instantly with a couple of powerful ninjutsu rayton acting on the square, and then the locals on both sides entered the arena. This fight dragged on a bit, as both the fan wielder and the puppeteer preferred to keep a long distance, as well as being able to run and dodge very well.

The puppeteer's coordination with his multi-segmented wooden kite was not very impressive - the fact that he could move at the same time as controlling the puppet was an obvious talent - but he still won in stamina, not wasting chakra on costly techniques, so the senbons that flew out of the kite's mouth still got the opponent a couple of times.
