Chapter 398: Chapter 90
- I give up!
- The winner is Sasori!
Using the shunshin, I appeared next to Naoho, who was slumped over, and picked her up, nodding to the referee and leaving the arena in the same manner, heading for the infirmary.
- Good job," I praised the girl, laying her on the far bed and ignoring the Suna iryo-nin who were fussing over the patients who had already arrived here. - Now rest while I take care of the poison.
With a single touch I plunged the weakly smiling kunoichi into slumber and got to work, pulling the senbon sticking out of her shoulder.

The poison used turned out to be paralyzing, of organic origin. Not so dangerous for an adult shinobi, but with the kunoichi's small mass it could be fatal if it got to the heart. So having summoned a clone to increase the speed of the work, I first slowed down the blood flow in the body, and then started filtering, accumulating the poison in one place and then drawing it out through small wounds into a vial printed beforehand. It would come in handy for future study and a course of getting used to the new poison. I've been neglecting to develop immunity to the most common poisons lately, so it's time to take a chance, and I'll make time for it.
As I squeezed out the last drops of blood and poison, I corked the container and put it in my pocket, wiping away a few drops of sweat from my forehead. I was more accustomed to taking care of the usual wounds left by weapons or Doton techniques than to dealing with poison - during the war with Suna, the poisoned had simply not been brought to the village in time, which had resulted in a huge number until Tsunade had taken matters into her own hands, organizing a proper field hospital at the front instead of sending most of the casualties to Konoha for proper treatment.
After checking her condition and making sure she was okay, I wanted to go back to the arena to continue watching the battles, but reality had taken its toll. The shinobi came running into the room with a stretcher carrying a battered and bruised body, which, upon closer inspection, I recognized as the kid Hyuga from Kay's team!
Waving the shinobi to unload him onto the nearest bunk, I did a quick visual inspection - it looked like he'd either run into a katon user or been in the midst of several blast seals, the latter being more likely judging by some of the bleeding wounds.
I did a quick scan of the genin's clothing and cut off the top layer of skin that had fused to it, and the clone and I did a quick scan and wrinkled my nose - the guy had indeed been hit by kibakufud blasts, and tied to kunai, judging by the pieces of metal on the ground. Wrapped around the hilt of a kunai, such seals have a striking power no worse than a fragmentation grenade.
Having pulled out the metal pieces of shrapnel while the clone was busy keeping the patient alive, I began to treat the most serious wounds, leaving the second- and third-degree burns for later - with the shinobi's endurance, even such injuries were not too threatening in the near future, but a lung that had begun to fill with blood, a damaged spleen, liver, and kidney required immediate attention.
But I'd already had my fill of such surgeries, so while the kagebunshin was holding Hyuga, I was patching him up at a rapid pace, interrupting only once to create a couple more doppelgangers - a bruised kunoichi from Sarutobi's team was brought in, followed by the last member of their team with fairly minor injuries and exhaustion.
