Rehabilitate the Villainess

chapter 115

115 – Extraversion: Running Errands

After reading a storybook to Ruel, he woke up Shael who had fallen asleep.

Ruel was immediately hugged by Shael and enjoyed her embrace. Sael also warmly embraced Ruel.

‘It’s always amazing to see it.’

I didn’t expect Shael’s maternal love to be so great. To be honest, she couldn’t say that Sael’s personality was good.

Nevertheless, Sael cared for Ruel endlessly. Thanks to that, Ruel was able to grow up receiving strong love from me and Shael.

“I read all the children’s books!”

When Ruel shows off her charms to Sael with her cute tone, Sael gives her an answer by patting Ruel’s cheek.

Just looking at it warms my heart.

I, too, tried to snuggle up and enjoy a happy embrace. However, as always, Shael started teasing me with a mischievous smile.

“If you became a duke, wouldn’t you have to work?”

Shael’s words reminded me of my identity.

As Sael said, I was now the duke of the Baslet family.

Duke Ezran, who had been working for a long time, seemed to be having a hard time, and it was only possible because I was used to working in the estate.

By the way, when I go to work for real, I’m going to pout with my cheeks inflated and play around like this.

‘It’s a Sael-like joke.’

I understood and hugged Sael and Ruel. But perhaps Sael’s words were a signal, Ruel’s eyes widened as if he wanted something.

“I want to go on an errand!”

“Errands?”

Ruel nodded her head.

‘Errand run.’

Even if it wasn’t a request from Ruel, I was thinking of ordering him to run errands someday.

But that wasn’t the case now. Ruel was still only five years old.

Let alone running errands, Ruel was in a position to lead a safe life in the mansion.

“Oh, can’t I?”

“It is possible.”

Contrary to my thoughts, it was impossible to refuse when looking at Ruel’s earnest eyes.

There were numerous safety devices anyway. From a ring that helps with tracking to a ring that holds great protection magic.

With just those, no one in the Barslet family would be able to harm Ruel.

In the first place, I was also planning to follow Ruel.

Ruel looked up at me after giving me a sparkling look.

It was a gaze filled with questions about what to buy.

“Wouldn’t milk be all right?”

“Yes!”

The reason why milk was chosen as Ruel’s goal was for a simple reason. Because Ruel loved milk so much.

“Then tomorrow…”

“Let’s go today!”

Ruel uses a cute tone when he’s like this. Of course, I had no choice but to fall for such an obvious aegyo.

I gave Ruelle enough money to buy milk, and gave her a ring and necklace for her safety.

This alone should be enough, but I also put a separate protection spell on it because of the overflowing worries.

“I’ll be back!”

Unlike Sael, Ruel, who moves quickly, left the house.

‘Is this right?’

A child running errands at the age of only five.

Still, there was nothing to worry about. No wonder. Less than 10 seconds after Ruel left the mansion, Shael and I were ready to go out.

Even though we didn’t talk to each other, we implicitly executed the prescribed action.

“I’d better follow suit now.”

“Yes, I am.”

I left the mansion. Nearby, Ruel was walking through the field, murmuring.

It was fatal to the heart.

Running around to catch butterflies, smelling her scent while looking at pretty flowers.

Even then, Ruelle sends her strong cheering toward herself in order to safely complete her mission of running her errands.

“So cute.”

“Of course. Who gave birth to her daughter?”

That was Sael’s answer. She probably didn’t mean that she was cute herself.

‘It’s true, so it doesn’t matter.’

Anyway, that’s not what’s important now. Now I fixed my eyes on Ruel, who was moving at a brisk pace.

At some point, Ruel arrived at the center of the Baslet family’s estate, where there were quite a few people.

Ruel walks everywhere, changing the somber atmosphere of Baslett’s estate alone.

It felt like Ruel was walking around shining alone, so I was able to enjoy the pride I don’t know why.

* * *

‘Oops.’

Ruel shook his head, waking him up.

At least, I almost forgot today’s goal while looking at the flowers.

I have to buy milk for an errand.

Even Ruel’s goal wasn’t just completing errands. This included examining the environment outside the Barslet family’s mansion, which was not easy to experience.

Ruel increased his speed, trying to somehow engrave the scenery here in his eyes.

Suddenly, Ruel saw passers-by passing by.

“Hello!”

Like my dad said, I don’t skip greetings. People tilted their heads because she was wearing a luxurious dress, but Ruel didn’t care.

Ruel was just doing everything in his power to remember his father’s words.

‘⋯⋯Ah!’

ㅡ’Ruel, friends are good-natured children, so it’s good to try to make friends in a variety of ways.’

Ruel, finally recalling her father’s advice, turned her gaze and looked around her.

“Oh, how are you?”

I tried to talk to the ant that was roaming below, but the ant didn’t talk like in the fairy tale.

Ruel looked around her once more. She couldn’t see a child of Ruel’s age.

When her soon-to-be disappointed Ruel let out a weak sigh, someone came into her field of vision.

A girl with brown hair.

She seemed much older than Ruel, but that didn’t make her an adult.

‘In that case!’

This was a rare opportunity.

A chance to make an easy-going friend, not a child from another aristocratic family who values only the difficult like her dignity.

“Hi! What’s your name?”

Ruel greeted her cheerfully with all her expectations. It was a very perfect greeting, even though it stuttered her pronunciation.

“I-I’m… Kanna.”

But the answer wasn’t perfect. In a trembling voice, high words filled with fear.

Feeling strange about this, Ruel raised her head and looked more closely at her Kanna. Kanna lowered her gaze to her Ruel’s dress.

It was only then that Ruel realized.

A pure white dress with blue frills.

What Ruel was wearing was clothes that nobles would wear.

‘What should I do?’

At this rate, it is impossible to make friends. Even if I looked into Kanna’s eyes right away, she couldn’t see Ruel properly and lowered her head.

First of all, Ruel decided to tell a nice lie to make him a friend.

“I-I picked this dress up off the ground!”

“Yes, yes!?”

Telling a lie was harder than I thought.

“Huh!”

A brief deep breath.

After she calmed down through her deep breathing, she looked at Kanna raising her expectations, but she didn’t seem to believe Kanna’s words.

Well, a dress I picked up from the ground couldn’t be this clean. There’s no way a dress like this would be walking around on the ground.

‘What should I do, Dad?’

She tried to call her father internally, but there was no answer. What came out was Kanna’s nervous voice.

“Are you Mr. Ruel of the Baslet family? I remember seeing a glimpse of it at a festival in Baslett before…”

At this level, making friends was no different than crossing the water. However, Ruel did not give up and cried out earnestly.

“I am not Ruel Baslett!”

Ruel decided to give a reason. There will be no such convincing denial.

To do this, it was necessary to completely lie.

Ruel looked back at his memories.

When her mom lies to her dad, what does she do?

Mom pouted her lips each time and looked away.

Ruel was able to figure out right away that it was a lie, but his dad, Eran, kept fooling him.

Ruel chewed on that fact, pursed his lips, and looked away.

“My dad will never be the Duke of Barslett!”

Although her lips were pouting, she was beeping. It was a perfect lie.

Kanna’s eyes didn’t change even with that surprising lie. Ruelle caught her breath and added her lies.

“Our installment plan is definitely not the Duke of Azbel!”

After that, Ruel gasped for breath. Telling lies to Ruel was more difficult than using magic.

After this, there was one word that popped into Ruel’s head.

ㅡ’Ruel, you can’t lie.’

It was something my dad used to tell me every time. Because of that, Ruel had no choice but to open his closed mouth again.

“Actually, my dad is Duke Baslett.”

Ruel’s dignified posture was wrinkled at some point.

“It’s also true that our installment is the Duke of Azbel…”

At least in Ruel’s head, the perfect lie had crumbled.
