Chapter Fourteen: A World Connected

The summer sun poured into the Potter estate as Harry sat by the window in his room, reading a book on advanced magical theory. Though he couldn't use a wand yet, his mastery of wandless magic allowed him to experiment with concepts far beyond his age.

It was a quiet morning, one of the last they would spend together as a family before he and Rose left for Hogwarts. Harry was both excited and apprehensive about the new chapter in his life. But before he could dwell too long on his thoughts, a loud call echoed through the halls.

"Everyone, come to the drawing room! Quickly!"

It was his mother, Lily. She sounded excited, almost giddy. Harry bookmarked his page and hurried downstairs, meeting Rose and their younger sisters, Lillian and the twins, on the way.

When they entered the drawing room, they found their parents, grandparents, Sirius, and Remus already there, standing before an enormous horizontal mirror mounted on the wall.

"What's going on?" Harry asked, curious.

"This," Lily said with a wide grin, gesturing to the mirror, "is my latest invention."

Lily stood before the mirror, her excitement contagious. "I've been working on this for years, and it's finally ready. I call it the MagiCom Mirror—a combination of two-way mirrors and broadcasting wards."

James raised an eyebrow. "You've been calling it your 'secret project' for months. Care to explain what it actually does?"

"It's a magical television and communication device," Lily explained, her eyes sparkling. "You can watch broadcasts like Muggles do with their television sets, but you can also use it like a phone. Each mirror comes with receiving wards. If someone has a connected mirror, you can talk to them or even see them. No owls needed!"

Everyone exchanged stunned looks.

"That's brilliant, Lily," Dorea said, pride evident in her voice.

Charlus nodded. "This could change everything. Communication, entertainment—it's revolutionary."

"And today," Lily continued, "is the first public broadcast. The Ministry is using the system to show a Quidditch match for the first time in history. I wanted us to be among the first to see it."

"Wait," Sirius said, leaning forward, "you mean we get to watch a live Quidditch match from our living room?"

"Exactly!" Lily replied, her grin widening.

Lily activated the mirror with a flick of her wand, and the smooth surface shimmered before revealing an image of the Ministry's broadcasting station. A witch with sleek hair and bright robes appeared, welcoming viewers to the historic first broadcast.

Harry stared, captivated. The image was crisp, and the sound was clear. The witch spoke about the upcoming Quidditch match, explaining that they would be showing it live from the Ministry's recording wards at the stadium.

When the match began, the family was entranced. The camera followed the players as they zoomed through the air, the commentary lively and engaging. Even the younger twins were glued to the screen, clapping and cheering as the Chasers scored.

Lillian bounced on the couch, her excitement infectious. "It's like we're there!"

Sirius leaned back, a wide grin on his face. "Lily, you're a genius. The wizarding world doesn't know what's about to hit it."

"Agreed," Remus said, nodding. "This could bridge the gap between Muggle and magical innovations. It's extraordinary."

Harry watched his mother, who was beaming with pride. He had always admired her brilliance, but this invention felt like a glimpse into how much she could achieve when given the chance.

When the match ended, the entire room erupted into applause, not just for the winning team but for Lily. Sirius raised his glass of pumpkin juice in a toast.

"To Lily Potter, the brightest witch of her age—and the one who's about to make every wizard and witch in the world jealous of her genius!"

Everyone laughed and raised their glasses. Even Charlus, normally reserved, smiled broadly.

Harry, sitting beside his mother, felt a swell of pride. His life had changed so much since the last timeline. His family wasn't just surviving—they were thriving. And today was proof of that.

As the celebration continued late into the evening, Harry couldn't help but think about the future. With a family like his and a world that was evolving, anything felt possible.
