Chapter 8: Farmilar Summoning Ritual! First Stage!
Chapter 8.
Yuki had been training hard ever since the day he helped her awaken her external talent and he was able to see it through the benefits he was receiving although he wasn't sure how far she had gone since the system mentioned that only significant milestones would be recognized.
He returned home after a while. Staying there any longer with no one knowing about his whereabouts would cause quite a stir in the household.
If he remembered correctly then his sister was probably practicing her familiar summoning or Shikigami as the people knew and called it.
Most would get rejected and some didn't even dare to perform the ritual because of some of the risks involved.
He still had hope though since he knew how long it took to master such an art and it would only be a while later Yuki would awaken her technique.
" I wonder what technique she'll be able to use since I barely know anything about her or what techniques her family were used to." He thought, lying on his bed.
As he lay down and tried to close his eyes, he felt something crawl up on his hand and he was instantly bound.
" You're quite cunning." An unhinged voice came from the side.
He heaved a sigh, watching as a slowly rose above his face, looking down at him with an intent and frightening gaze.
" Well, you sure managed to recover early from that despite being the better one out of you two... Somehow you've awakened all your talents simultaneously with her but she'll have to endure the fever until the final, unlike you... for some reason."
" You mind? I'm struggling with you on top of me." He said, turning away his face.
The snake vanished immediately after that, leaving him to ponder on what had just happened.
He didn't tell Yuki something about the mist since he didn't want her to reject his offer and while he did feel guilty for her current state, at least he gave her something else in return.
Putting aside what the mischievous entity had said, what she would be suffering from would only be a mild fever just like him.
He had thought about visiting her a few times but instantly dropped the thought the moment he remembered how she had reacted the last time they were together.
Had she been at the very least six years old then he would take into consideration the fact that it was probably caused by a sudden mood swing, but the girl clearly had anger issues.
" I'll probably be seeing her for a while but as soon as I'm old enough to leave I'll want nothing else but to get as far away from that girl as I can."
The room had begun to feel boring and heated with all the thoughts running through his mind and he had decided to go outside and get some fresh air.
" Megumi!"
A feminine called out his name and he couldn't help but shriek at the familiarity of the voice.
" Damnit." He mumbled, quickly turning around.
That was when he felt himself get flung up in the air and it was only a moment before he ended up in his mother's arms.
It had become a natural occurrence that he wished would just come to an abrupt end.
It wasn't long before he found himself standing in the middle of nowhere as usual.
" Now listen up MEGUMI, You'll be watching your big sister from now on. You've managed to defy all of my expectations so far and I know for sure that you'll be able to do more." His mother said, sounding cheerful as usual.
It was only after she had spoken that he looked up ahead to see his elder sister standing in the distance.
Before her was a pillar which had a dead bird lying on it. He could feel the ominous presence swirling around the dead creature while his sister constantly tried to suppress the energy into it.
What he was feeling was spiritual energy; a type of foreign energy only found in creatures known as Shikigami or familiars.
By mastering the art of spiritual control through this method, she could call out a Shikigami from the spirit realm and if certain conditions are met, the creature will then be infinitely bound to her will.
The path he would have to go through before the summoning ritual of a familiar, or familiars for a few.
He watched as she bent forward slightly, trying to catch her breath. Trying to manipulate spiritual energy was very tiring for her and it would only be a while before she would give in.
Just as he had expected, it wasn't long before she quit the process and decided to take a break.
" Megumi, what are you doing here?" She asked, approaching him.
" Mum brought me here." He said turning towards her before quickly turning back his gaze towards the platform where the dead creature lay, " she told me to watch you perform the first step of a familiar summoning."
" Is that so? Well, I'll be taking a break so you can continue watching me when I continue." She said walking away.
He stood there for a few more minutes, staring at the platform with every ounce of his attention.
A thought suddenly came to him and after looking around to see that there wasn't anyone there except him, he began to slowly walk towards the platform.
The strange foreign energy he sensed around the dead creature began to grow stronger with each step closer he took.
Until...
" Argh!"
He groaned as he fell to his knees with his right hand held tightly against his abdomen.
Just a moment as he was about to take another step closer towards the pillar, something strange happened.
A strange feeling hit his chest as his innate energy began to circulate and disperse violently. It wasn't long before a huge pain hit his stomach and he was forced to assume the current posture.
He quickly got away from the creature and the foreign energy after that. It was clear that whatever it was, was clearly above his league.
" Where is everyone anyway." He thought looking around.
He had no either where he was and that was mainly because he was standing in an open field surrounded by nothing but trees and shrubs.
He could see the flowing blue sea from the distance and knew the route which led to It. But that wasn't his problem.
There were three other routes with the route to the beach being the only one pointing towards the east. One was towards the South and the other two went southeast and southwest.
" Which route did she take?" He pondered, biting his lower lip.
The longer he stayed there thinking, the more mentally fatigued he became. Although it was completely fine it shouldn't be for someone like him.
And besides, it hadn't been so long so even a fragment of his elder sister's presence should have been left behind. This all seemed too strange and he didn't have any form of perceptive sorcery to aid him in such a situation.
But despite this, he decided to go with his gut feeling and move forward.
The southeast route was the route he decided to take and there hadn't been any obstacles for the first minute of his journey.
Until...
Just as he was about to take another step forward, the ground began rumbling as loud footsteps began coming from behind him.
That was when he promptly turned around, moving to the side in the process in case of any incoming attacks.
And...
That was when he saw it, a horrifying sight. One he would live to see for the rest of his life.
