Chapter 12: Quest Rewards and System Update
As they walked through the hallway of Fraxinus, an weired silence hung in the air between Shido and Reine. The soft hum of machinery and faint echoes of footsteps in the distance were the only sounds accompanying their steps. Shido trailed slightly behind Reine, his mind swirling with the events that had just happened.
Suddenly, a familiar chime resonated in his mind.

[Level Up!]
[Level Up!]
[Level Up!]
The chime repeated over and over until, finally, the system made its concluding announcement.
[Congratulations! You are now Level 29.]
Shido froze in his steps, his eyes wide as he mentally reviewed the string of announcements. The sheer speed of his level advancement was staggering.
'Level 29 already? Just from that? And the rewards...' His lips curved into a disbelieving grin, excitement swelling inside him.
"Shido?"
Reine's calm voice brought him back to reality. She had stopped and was looking back at him, her unreadable gaze fixed on his distracted form.
"Uh… sorry." Shido said quickly, shaking his head to clear his thoughts.
He matched her pace once more, though his heart still raced with exhilaration. Despite the silence that persisted between them, his mind buzzed with plans on how to make the most of his newfound power.
His thoughts returned to the first and most alluring thing on his list of rewards.
Anos Voldigoad's Magic (0%).
The very name made his lips curve into a crazed grin.
'Anos Voldigoad… the Demon King of Tyranny!?'
This kind of magic could only be insane, absurdly powerful! The thought of wielding it had Shido laughing like an idiot to himself, caught up in the sheer excitement of it.
In his mind, he struck a pose, envisioning himself chanting out, Jio Graze! in dramatic fashion, the absolute might of the spell crackling with power. He couldn't help but laugh at himself imagining the image.
'It'll be so cool...' But then, his gaze moved downward (0%) label next to the skill's name then he suddenly had a bad feeling about this.
Immediately, that joy soured. 'Zero percent?' he thought, his heart sinking. He opened the description of the magic, only to be met with a revelation that made him nearly curse out loud.
[Anos Voldigoad's Magic]
Description: This is the totality of Anos Voldigoad's magic, encompassing the infinite power of destruction and knowledge of one of the most powerful beings in existence.
Integration Status: (0%) This magic needs to be fully integrated into your spirit. Time required for full integration. Indeterminate, but would likely be very long.
The words cut through his excitement like a sharp knife.
'Oh great, so I have to integrate the entire knowledge of his magic into myself before I can use it?' Shido let out a long and dramatic sigh, his shoulders slumping in defeat as if the weight of the world had suddenly pressed down on him.
'This might take a while...'
Still, the thought of the magic itself filled him with enough awe to keep his spirits high. It might be something useful in the future, but the waiting time to fully integrate it wasn't exactly promising. 'Great!' he thought with a dry laugh. The best stuff always comes with a price.
He shook his head and moved on, trying not to linger too long on his earlier frustration.
Then there was the Elucidator. A wide grin appear at Shido's lips as he viewed the details. This was a good sword of Kirito from SAO, and something he could actually finally use.
The Swordsmanship (Basic Level) skill that he had equipped could be a perfect match for it, making this a promising new weapon in his arsenal.
But that wasn't all.
There were more rewards to consider.
He had obtained Skill Ticket Draw 1x and Summon Ticket Draw 1x, his mind immediately buzzed with the possibilities.
'The summons are always a gamble, but if I get lucky...' his mind lingered on that thought. He grinned, practically salivating at the thought of pulling someone incredibly powerful but also beautiful girls.
The summon tickets could be a risky pursuit, but they were one that he was willing to chase.
He paused briefly, then realized.
'Wait, I know I want to use them now, but...' Shido sighed and steadied himself. 'need to be careful. If I pull a troublesome character, it could mean more problems...'. He shook his head at the thought. 'The problems I got with Reine is enough for now, and there is still Tohka.
Shido shake his head to clear his thought and move forward to the nest reward.
As for the 800,000 EXP, Shido couldn't suppress a contented smile. The massive influx of experience had helped him level up to Level 29 and granted him a good bunch of rewards he'd earned just from completing quests.
But thinking back to the Hidden Quest, he found himself silently thanking his luck for accidentally kissing Reine. The kiss itself had been unexpected, but it had certainly come with an interesting set of consequences.
Her lips were soft and there was something a trace of sweetness on it making him wonder if girls lips really tasted like that.
He glanced at Reine, who was walking a few steps ahead of him. As she moved, he couldn't help but notice the gentle sway of her butt. With a shake of his head to clear any lingering thoughts.
Focusing back on the matter at hand, he thought about the 500,000 SP. Such a massive amount that he could afford to buy several skills, items, or even equipment from the System's store.
His mind buzzed with options, already forming plans for what he might invest in next. There were so many possibilities...
And then there was the unexpected gains of 50,000 SF.
That could be used to summon SSR anime girls.
Talk about a stroke of luck.
The thought of having such beautiful and powerful girls by his side made Shido realize just how much potential he had now. The idea of forming bonds with them, having such remarkable individuals supporting him, made him smile in anticipation.
He couldn't help but laugh excitedly, thinking about the powerful yet unique personalities he could meet through the summons, eager to see what kind of connections he would form.
Lastly, 3,000 WP.
Shido stared at the number in puzzlement. He wasn't exactly sure if this was a big sum or not, given that World Travel was still locked.
'I will know it in the future, no need to rush'
He mentally noted to figure this out later.
Shido who was still absorbing the excitement from his recent system announcements and level up, suddenly remembered something.
The System had updated just before he lost consciousness. His curiosity peaked once more as he mentally opened the interface.
The screen materialized, a soft blue glow illuminating the words:

His eyes quickly skimmed the new features on the system. One by one, he scanned the updated stats with a mixture of awe and bewilderment.

Shido paused for a moment, digesting the changes. His stats had increased significantly, especially his strength and agility thanks to leveling up. But what caught his attention most was the addition of Spirit Mode.
He opened it, curiosity bubbling up inside him. There, under Astral Dress, was the name Seraphim Obscura. His brows furrowed as he read the description.
"Seraphim Obscura" (セラフィム・オブスキュラ, Serafimu Obusukyura)
Seraphim (סְרַפִּים): Refers to the highest order of angels in Hebrew tradition, symbolizing purity, divine light, and the manifestation of divine will. It represents righteousness, celestial purity, and a connection to the divine.
Obscura (ラテリウム): Derived from Latin, meaning "dark" or "hidden," representing mystery, the unknown, and the concealment of truth. It also evokes the idea of darkness or shadow, opposing the concept of light and revealing things in their true, hidden form.
Seraphim Obscura symbolizes the perfect balance between the celestial light of the Seraphim (divinity, purity) and the mystery of darkness and hidden chaos (Obscura), representing the interplay of light and darkness, good and evil, in Shido's essence.
Shido felt a chill crawl up his spine. The meaning of the name was clear enough.
The two opposing elements, light and darkness, embodied in a single being.
The thought struck him 'Did this mean he had two personalities, one good and one evil?'
'Naiwa...'
Shaking his head, he laugh at his own thoughts. "Guess it sounds pretty cool, though. I won't dwell on this too much right now…"
He moved on, but when he looked down to see that his Angel slot was still empty, a sigh escaped him. He rubbed his forehead, feeling a mixture of frustration and resignation.
'Not fair… but then again, I already got the Astral Dress by accident, so I shouldn't complain.'
The momentary bitterness passed, replaced by a quiet appreciation for what he had. Reine's integration into his system was a step forward, and at least he wasn't fully in the dark about what awaited him in this strange new power.
As he scrolled further through his status screen, something new caught his attention. A section titled Constitution.
His interest piqued for a moment, but his enthusiasm quickly waned when he noticed the word (Sealed) displayed beside it.
Shido let out a deep sigh. "Figures... This system always has to be so mysterious, doesn't it?"
Rather than dwell on it, Shido shrugged and dismissed it from his thoughts.
"If it's sealed, then there's no point in wasting energy on it right now." he muttered to himself.
With that, he shot a final glance at his stats. Taking in the progress he'd made, Shido felt a faint sense of accomplishment. Then, with a decisive motion, he closed the interface.
Turning his attention back to the present, he took a deep breath and steeled himself. Whatever mysteries lay ahead, he'd unravel them when the time was right. For now, there were more pressing matters to focus on.
