Reincarnated as Slaanesh in Marvel

Chapter 17: Chapter 17

Jean was worried, starting with the fact that their enemies had dismantled their main advantage—teamwork—by dividing the team. At the moment, she and Scott were facing Scarlet Witch and Avalanche. She also noticed that the latter had significantly improved his control over his powers.

Besides the tremor he caused at the beginning, he was also able to make the ground vibrate in a way that caused massive rocks to emerge. One of them hit her left leg when she let her guard down. It was probably fractured if the pain was any indication.

She could still fight only because she was using her telekinesis to levitate, but this prevented her from using her full power to attack.

And the other thing that worried her was that scream… If she didn't believe in ghosts, she might have thought it was the wail of a tortured soul. She could only pity whoever screamed like that and pray it wasn't one of her friends—especially Vela.

At the time, she and the rest of the group didn't say anything when the professor announced that Vela would join the team… but deep down, none of them were entirely convinced. Sure, they had all seen her fight in the Danger Room, and yes, they also knew she was a more lethal fighter than most of the team.

But she was still a child. No one said anything at the time, especially knowing that they weren't much better than her in terms of age. They were also aware that every day the Sentinels were getting stronger. Deep down, the entire team hoped Vela would only ever need to fight giant machines specialized in exterminating their kind—because you could simply destroy them, and that's it. No moral dilemmas, no nervous breakdowns, no regrets. You just make your enemy lose money.

Sadly, reality is rarely what you imagine it to be.

...

Jean's POV

I lifted Scott and myself a couple of meters off the ground to avoid another rock that surged from the earth while Scott continued firing his optic laser, only for Scarlet Witch to block it again with a barrier. Meanwhile, Avalanche made another rock emerge from the ground.

That's basically how our fight could be summed up: Scott and Avalanche attack, while Scarlet Witch and I block or dodge. It goes without saying that the four of us were at a stalemate.

At this moment, we have two options: wait for reinforcements or try to turn the tide. The first depends on luck, and the second depends on us.

I spoke telepathically to Scott and said,

"Scott, I have an idea. We should…" Halfway through the sentence, something was thrown into the middle of the battlefield, making everyone stop. We looked at what hit the ground, and to our surprise, it was a very battered Logan.

He had several wounds that were still regenerating on his body, but judging by how damaged his suit was, it was obvious he had already sustained more injuries.

I looked in the direction he had come flying from and saw a silhouette approaching.

"Vela?" I couldn't help but murmur as the figure was revealed.

"No, it's not her. It's the new girl from the Brotherhood," Logan replied as he stood up with some difficulty. The girl was wearing that organic armor that Vela sometimes used, but if you looked closely, you'd notice differences, like her clothing or height.

"Then why does she look like Vela?" Scott asked.

"… I don't know."

Scott and I tensed up, first because we knew how dangerous Vela could be, and also because we didn't know what had happened to her.

"Hey, I like the new look and all, but could you come over here and help us?" Avalanche said as he looked at his teammate, who was just staring in silence.

"Uh, everything okay?"

It happened so fast that I barely saw it, but suddenly, a red barrier appeared in front of Avalanche along with the new girl attacking him.

"What the hell, Rogue?" Reflexively, Avalanche made a rock rise from the ground to hit Rogue—or at least tried to, as she simply jumped back, dodging the attack.

"Hey man, what happened to her?" Wanda asked Logan.

"… It seems that somehow your friend copied Vela's powers, but in exchange, she went crazy and is attacking everything in sight."

"Well, crap."

Merry Christmas! I hope you're all having a great time during the holidays. I had planned to publish this chapter two days ago and make it a bit longer, but I had family visiting, so things got a bit complicated. Most likely, this will be the last post I make this year. At most, I might publish one more chapter of Real Monster of the Multiverse, but either way, happy holidays and a prosperous New Year!

Next chapter will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
