Reincarnated Maid is About To Be Captured by All Players

Volume 3 Chapter 19

“Ugh—?!”

Gruman grunted as he was knocked down by the flying spear.

The spear was entirely emerald in color, as if crafted from jade.

After piercing through Gruman, the spear began to loosen by itself without any interference and then independently left Gruman’s body, flying towards a direction before landing securely in the delicate hands of a young girl.

“Lady Chris…”

The one who threw the spear was Chris. She twirled the spear in her hand, fending off the nearby adventurers. In stark contrast to her usual frivolous demeanor, Chris now resembled a valiant and imposing Valkyrie.

Although I knew that Chris had learned magic and martial arts, her skill level was unexpectedly high.

“Cough…! 【Gungnir, the Spear of God】?”

Gruman actually stood up again, glanced at his shattered armor on his chest, and grimaced in annoyance.

Something was burning at the position of his heart, but it did not cause him any harm.

【Amulet】 — a protective type of consumable item. It activates upon receiving a fatal attack, clears all negative effects, and prevents fatal damage, leaving the user with 1 HP. Its effect is similar to the Phoenix’s Evening Dress, but the 【Amulet】 is a one-time use item.

Gruman’s face was filled with rage. He probably didn’t expect to use such a rare life-saving item in this situation. It was a waste.

“No way, it can’t be the 【Gungnir, the Spear of God】. What you’re holding is a replica, right?!”

The Gungnir — a legendary weapon passed down among the elf race for a millennium. If legendary weapons were to be ranked, Gungnir would be at the top. It has always been in possession of the successive Elf Kings, reportedly crafted by a talented goblin elf using the sacred tree of Midgard.

It is said that the Gungnir, once thrown, would always pierce its target and autonomously return to its owner. There’s no known way to restrain it. It is considered an unparalleled masterpiece by the goblin elves, and in the hundred years that followed, many attempted to recreate such a spear, but all failed.

Partly for the same reason, some replicas of it circulated outside.

The weapon Chris was using was indeed one of these replicas.

Chris raised her right hand in a spear-throwing gesture, causing Gruman’s expression to change, and he hastily retreated to increase the distance.

One of the limitations of the fake Gungnir was its attack range, which was no different from that of a normal thrown weapon. The original 【Gungnir】 was said to have an attack range covering the entire map. For instance, the current holder, Oberon VII, could theoretically throw the Gungnir from Midgard and hit a target in the Kingdom of Micael. Hence, some players jokingly referred to the true Gungnir as an intercontinental missile. However, the Elf King never carried out such a distant strike, so its actual capability is unknown.

Having frightened Gruman away, Chris pierced an adventurer and then jumped beside me.

“Anna, I’ll carry you.”

“Thank you, but short distance movement isn’t too affected. Be careful behind you.”

As I spoke, I already used the chains to bind an adventurer trying to backstab Chris, using him as a meteor to knock away several adventurers and guards.

Would it be more apt to say it was like bowling?

I shot the chains upward, trying to pierce the ice to create a fixed point to pull us up, but the chains slid off the ice upon contact. They had preemptively applied magic to the ice walls.

“There are too many of them, the support team can’t handle this. Enrique, that guy, is just standing by…!”

“He didn’t come to help us?”

“As soon as he was exposed, he immediately disassociated himself from us. He’s playing his cards well.”

Chris said through gritted teeth. Enrique’s accompanying guards were not weak. We couldn’t just thank him for not participating in the arrest. That’s what Chris believed. Our cooperative relationship with Enrique had shattered.

The only ones on our side were Anna’s support team… but in terms of both numbers and individual combat strength, they were no match for the Black Hawk Mercenary Group and the knights.

It was visibly clear that the number of adventurers from Anna’s support team was rapidly diminishing.

“Lady Sister.”

Nora emerged from the shadow of an adventurer near Chris, just like when we first met, casually piercing the adventurer’s body with her scythe.

“How is it, Nora?”

“The situation is very unfavorable for us… The Duke’s troops have formed a circle around us, and I heard from the adventurers that the Duke is on his way here.”

“Duke Borgias himself?! That’s a lie…”

“I can’t confirm the truth of the news. Lady Sister, the adventurers

can use that private message feature to send information over long distances. If Reunion Island has adventurers from the Black Hawk Mercenary Group stationed there…”

The answer was self-evident.

The Black Hawk Mercenary Group had already reached an agreement with Duke Borgias. Using the adventurers’ traits to quickly relay messages was not surprising.

“Lady Chris, how far is Reunion from Aclin?”

“On the surface, it’s quite far… But there’s a teleportation crystal near Aclin. If the Duke wants to come, it’s not impossible.”

Chris told me the feasibility while fending off the adventurers’ attacks.

In other words, could Duke Borgias actually come to Aclin himself?

Although Duke Borgias was quite old, he was once the highest combat power of the Kingdom of Micael. None of us here could confront Duke Borgias directly.

There seemed to be no hope.

If I were to describe it in the style of a single-player game… it’s like we’re stuck in a dead end, right?
