Chapter 28: Chapter 27: War Pt 6
Aiden POV.
A New God. Probably a descendant, but one nonetheless. Beings who had an unfair advantage of being born close to the source.
While that was a boon, I also had mine.
I was a bonafide Homo Magi, a race superior to regular homo sapiens and while they had the Source and longevity to learn all forms of hand to hand combat techniques, I had my magic.
But thankfully, that wasn't all. I also had knowledge of fighting styles waiting to be implemented.
"Why don't we find out about that?"
As soon as I heard that, I immediately changed the shape of the domain from a dome like shape into a straight line that connected straight to him, and before he could react, I had already teleported to his front and delivered a straight punch which connected as he shot off into the air.
"Master Lorian, you focus on the big one for now..I'll be as fast as I can." Saying that, I immediately shot off after the New God, I'll get to test out all the moves I possibly can on this one.
However, just as the thought of that was formed, the air around me shifted as the New God reappeared to my left with a punch going to my lower body.
'Impossible.' was the only thing I could think of as I created a telekinetic shield to intercept the punch. 'I didn't sense him.' I thought but immediately understood why.
I had compressed the width of the domain and increased the length to create the straight line domain to increase Teleportation distance.
'No wonder I didn't sense him.'
While thinking this, I went for a kick with my left leg to his head which surprisingly connected, sending him flying. "Impossible, he can't be that weak, right?"
…
Normal POV
What Aiden hadn't noticed at the time was that his entire existence had been restructured during the period he relinquished his body's control to the Force.
With the APE, Aiden's body had been enhanced to a state his past self was not aware of and he had not grown accustomed to it, causing him to be unable to control his strength
Aiden raised his right hand and clenched it a few times but didn't feel anything different about it and shrugged, putting the thought aside as he looked towards the New God he had sent flying barreling towards him once again.
As soon as he entered his Domain, he felt it and squinted his eyes, seeing as there was no damage on his head. "Seems like you guys aren't all that weak."
Aiden extended his hand, and a sword belonging to one of the many fallen warriors flew into his grasp. With a fluid motion, he brandished it. "Let's see if you can survive this, [Void Reality]."
The blade shimmered, releasing an illusory sword light that spread like a hazy, ethereal veil.
Despite the distance, the New God couldn't react in time. The move wasn't just fast, it was omnidirectional, leaving no avenue for evasion.
Teleportation might have been an option, but within Aiden's Domain, such an escape was impossible.
The New God was caught off guard for a moment and hesitated, and just then, dozens of sword lights converged on him from every direction.
His eyes widened in alarm as he raised his arms in a desperate attempt to shield himself, but the attack was already upon him.
The first sword light carved through his armor with terrifying ease, leaving a deep gash across his forearm.
In that instant, his stoic expression twisted into one of shock and pain as more strands of sword light followed suit, cutting across his body in quick succession.
One after another, they slashed into him, targeting his shoulders, chest, and legs with surgical precision.
Each cut wasn't merely shallow as they seemed to tear through his flesh as though it were mere cloth.
His armor, forged in the fires of Apokolips and once believed indestructible, began to crumble under the relentless onslaught, shattered by Aiden's overwhelming power within his Domain.
His blood sprayed into the air, dark and heavy, only to be swept away by the momentum of the sword lights.
The New God staggered, his once-imposing frame reduced to a ravaged silhouette as the final arcs of sword light seared into him.
With a final, furious attempt, he tried to summon his energy, hoping to counter, but his movements were futile, Aiden's Domain left no room for escape or defense.
In one last climatic strike, a radiant sword light cut across his torso, splitting him from shoulder to hip as light in his eyes dimmed, the fire of divinity within them flickering out as he crumbled to his knees.
The battlefield seemed to have fallen silent for a moment as the New God fell.
Since the battle began, this was the First New God to be killed.
Not even the Old Gods of Olympus had managed to kill one and yet, a human mage, one considered weak amongst the rank of mages, had done so… so effortlessly.
…
Athena, the Goddess of wisdom's eyes widened with a mixture of shock and curiosity as she swept her spear, ripping a group of parademons to shreds.
She wore a silver armor and a golden helmet with a horsehair crest on it. Narrowing her eyes, she felt she had underestimated these Homo Magi, considering them inferior to divine beings. "A mortal… no, a mage… has slain a New God?" Athena murmured, her sharp gaze turning towards Aiden.
There was a newfound respect in her voice, tempered by awe. "How unexpected."
Apollo, standing stationary with his bow in hand, radiating brilliantly as the sun itself, had an expression shift from confidence to surprise. "One of Darkseid's own… felled by a human?"
His hands tightened around his bow, his golden eyes narrowing as he studied Aiden with a newfound seriousness. "Interesting."
Without paying much attention to Aiden any more, he pulled back his bowstring as a golden arrow made of light formed and was immediately released.
Faster than any one could perceive, droves of Parademons well disintegrated as they made contact with the arrows of light.
Zeus, The king of the gods scowled as thunder cracked above, reflecting his inner turmoil. "A human dares tread where even my Olympians falter?" His pride was both wounded and intrigued.
Zeus found himself both admiring and resenting the mortal's feat. "Very well, mage," he muttered under his breath. "Show us what you are truly capable of."
The messenger god could barely contain a smile, his usual irreverence giving way to genuine admiration.
"This mortal knows how to leave a mark, doesn't he?" Hermes chuckled, a mischievous light flashing in his eyes. "Can't say I mind a little surprise here and there. Seems we're not the only ones who can shake up a battlefield."
Ares let out a primal laugh, savoring the sight. "Finally, a mortal with blood worthy of a battlefield!" he roared, his bloodlust stirred. "Let the gods tremble alongside men, today, we fight as equals!"
Hera, watching from afar, narrowed her eyes in disdain masked by intrigue. "These humans grow bolder by the day." Yet beneath her aloof expression, she recognized the threat.
Mortals wielding such power could shift the balance that had long favored the gods.
The god of the Underworld raised an eyebrow, his stoic face betraying a faint smirk. "A mortal claiming the life of a New God? How delightfully unexpected."
He gestured toward the fallen body, sensing a soul even his realm would hesitate to claim. "Not even the dead stay buried on a battlefield like this."
From where he stood, trident in hand, Poseidon watched the mage with mixed feelings. "The sea has seen many impossible feats," he murmured, "but this one may well rival them all."
Aelous, the god of the winds felt a chill, sensing a disturbance in the air itself. "This mortal bends not only magic but fate," he muttered. He turned to Zeus, unsure. "Are we witnessing the dawn of a new force?"
---
Meanwhile, on the Apokaliptian side, Granny Goodness who was watching from a distance, had her expression darken with fury. "A New God… killed by a speck of a mortal?"
Her voice turned venomous, her grip on her weapon tightening. "That wretched insect will pay. I'll see to it myself if need be."
Lashina, Mad Harriet, and Stompa looked on in shock and disbelief. Lashina spat, her voice cold with anger. "That human won't survive another encounter. This time, we'll make sure of it."
The others snarled in agreement, each vowing to avenge their fallen comrade much to Granny Goodness pleasure.
Desaad sneered as he lopped off the heads of a few humans before turning towards Aiden's position, his face a mask of cruelty as he whispered under his breath. "A mortal dares to challenge the might of Apokolips? Let him try. His spirit will be broken before he even approaches Darkseid."
Last of all, Darkseid The Lord of Apokolips watched, an imperceptible shift in his otherwise impassive expression. A mortal had done the unthinkable, piercing his forces with a deadly strike.
Darkseid's red eyes narrowed, glowing with an ancient wrath. "Fascinating," he said, his voice rumbling like thunder. "Let them think they've accomplished something." His gaze bore down on Aiden as though peering through the distance itself. "But this… only delays the inevitable."
…
Rumble!
Just then, a rumbling sound was heard as the collosal New God made it's way towards Aiden, a hammer in hand.
Aiden watched on expressionlessly. As long as the New God entered his Domain, he was as good as dead.
And just as he thought that, the New God jumped high up into the air and descended towards Aiden.
Aiden narrowed his eyes calmly, and the moment the New God breached the range of his Domain, he reacted. With a flick of his wrist, he unleashed a slash so swift that the sword seemed to vanish.
BOOM!
The impact was immediate and cataclysmic.
The New God's hammer collided with Aiden's strike, a clash of pure destruction versus blinding speed.
The space around them fractured under the sheer force of their attacks, creating ripples that distorted the space like a shattered mirror.
When clashing, it caused a chain reaction, rupturing the ground around them and raising a cloud of dust.
And just then, a figure was sent flying from within the cloud.
In this confrontation, Aiden lost.
However, he immediately turned into a blinding radiance and vanished.
Tss Tss Tss Tss Tss...
In the next instant, the New God's blood was spurting frenziedly and it was unknown how many sword strikes he received in just a split moment.
"As expected. You're nothing much." Aiden, appearing behind the dead New God said. "Now then…" saying this, he raised his head and looked deeper into the battlefield where a few New Gods were battling, with a few looking towards him with varying expressions with the majority being anger.
Smiling to himself, Aiden channeled the Force and was about to begin his onslaught when a shattering sound rang out beside him.
Looking to his side, he saw the sword he had used to launch Void Reality twice only to see cracks spreading all over it. "I see. Seems like ordinary weapons can't handle the strain of the Force's Energy."
Saying that, he casually threw the hilt away and looked towards the Old Gods.
Athena with her Spear.
Ares with his Axe
Apollo with his bow
Zeus with his lightning coated fists.
None of them had a sword which was disappointing but then it hit him. "Apollo isn't using any arrows."
