Chapter 1: chapter 1 : A controversial identity
"I'm alive, I'm alive" I said to myself as I opened my eyes, I felt like I was dead in this intensive care room. I contracted this damn Covid 19.
Finally realizing the strange situation I was in, I looked around me. I was standing in a completely white room with a desk and a chair in front of me. On the desk was an old computer. A wide screen like the old televisions and a huge tower.
After checking, I didn't find a door in this room so I sat down in front of the computer, a thought came to my mind.
"I'm way too calm in this situation". Even after realizing it, it was impossible to panic. Oh well, let's see what's wrong with this computer.
Mr. Jordna
After being infected with Covid 19, you died.
You have been chosen to reincarnate in the Redisent Evil universe of the video game series (0/1/remake 2/remake 3/code Veronica/4/5)
You will be assisted by a system specific to this universe.
You will be transferred about 2 months before the incident at the mansion and your place of residence will be Racoon city.
Good luck
As I read the last sentence, I felt both extremely bad about my death and both scared and ecstatic for my reincarnation.
In an apartment room, a man had just killed himself because of a heroin overdose. However, in the apartment next door is Jill Valentine who he knows is a member of STARS (Special Tactics And Rescue Service) since he often helped her as an informant.
Despite his death, the man woke up peacefully as his body repaired itself from the many after-effects caused by the drug.
When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in a very contrasting room. On one hand, this room is super tidy. While on the other, drugs were everywhere.
I suddenly have a headache, it hurts so much that I can't even scream.
DING
Assimilation of the useful memory of the previous body 1%...9%...47%...100%
Assimilation completed, the host also has the Resident Evil system
Inventory/Monster Factory
After checking the various menus, the host will be asked to make a choice.
A little surprised by this development, my head still hurts a little and when I look down. I see a syringe inserted in my arm.
I gently remove it before throwing the syringe on the ground. On my arm, I see the small hole of the syringe closing slowly.
DING
The host's body is now perfectly repaired, you can start your new life peacefully.
Ok, at least it's clear, I am now Gerald King, I am a drug addict who takes advantage of being Jill Valentine's informant to protect myself from other police officers
"Inventory" I say directly after looking at the first message.
Inventory:
$1200
1 Health Spray
1 Lockpicking Kit
"Space remaining 98 slots"
So I have on me the equivalent of space of an inventory chest in the game, at least it's not bad. On the other hand, according to my body's memories. I only have this $1200 and I only have $50 in my bank account. "Monster reserve" I then say.
Monster Reserve:
Empty
To recover monsters, defeat them or master them in order to recover them for your use. Mastered monsters will give more advantages. Monsters will be modified and will follow all the host's orders.
DING
The host has finished looking at these options so the host is asked to make a choice between these three options.
The host will have access to an interesting element for the beginning of his adventure.
Weapon/Monster/Virus
Hard to choose, if the weapon is too special, it will turn against me and if I choose a monster, it will be difficult to use it. The virus could be interesting if it is one of the last viruses like Wesker's. "I choose Virus".
You have received the modified G Virus (only on the host)
"System, describe to me the specificities of this modified G Virus, please? " I said impatiently.
The modified G-Virus is what Doctor Birkin was trying to achieve, a super soldier with strength, agility and intelligence.
The modified G-Virus will strengthen the host's body and allow it to be immune and assimilate the characteristics of other viruses, its regenerative capacity will be multiplied by 10 and the host will be able to modify certain parts of its body depending on the incubation period of the virus.
In short, I would be literally overpowered without the inconvenience of mutation and the reproductive urges of the original.
May 16, 1998 is circled in red where it says
Let's see, I remove the G-Virus from my inventory and see a Purple vial.
DING
Modified G-Virus detected, does the host want to use it?
"Yes, I want to use the G-Virus" I said in anticipation as the vial disappeared from my hand before I felt a sense of comfort invade me.
The G-Virus has been successfully received by the host.
A Body window will be created in order to see some information related to your body
For now, it will take at least 3 hours for the Virus to make visible changes.
Moving towards a bathroom mirror, I finally see my new body, I am a fairly skinny young Caucasian man with messy blond hair. My nose is rather pointed and my eyes are blue with a golden halo.
In short, I really look like a junkie, fortunately the system has repaired the junk in my body. "System, show me the body window".
Body:
- Strength: 35 kg
- Speed: 1.7 m/s
- Resistance: 15 kg/cm²
Seeing these attributes, I am shocked by the speed because it is really low but since the body is that of a former drug addict, I imagine that even cured, it is quite neglected. "System, describe each attribute to me specifically?" I say curious about the implications behind these numbers.
Body:
- Strength: 35 kg (The host can exert a force equal to the number of this statistic whether in static force or strike)
- Speed: 1.7 m/s (The host can move at this speed at most whether running or in other agility maneuvers, this speed also influences perception) (reminder: it takes a certain period of time to reach this maximum speed but if it is a fast evasive movement, it is necessary to count 1/20 for an instant dodge)
- Resistance: 15 kg (Your body can take this force without taking damage, above this value, you would start to hurt yourself depending on the difference between the incoming attack and your resistance.
I write down these values on a notebook that I will always keep with me to follow the evolution of these numbers. I pack the drugs before going to bed to tomorrow.
As I slept, my body underwent regular changes, its muscles swelled slightly, its absent abs began to show signs of presence and its general build to gain in robustness. Despite all these changes, I continued my peaceful sleep.
When I woke up this morning, I had the feeling that my body was overflowing with energy. I got up looking at the alarm clock which indicated 7:46. I then went to the bathroom to clean myself. I put water on my face while I remained amazed at the sight in the mirror. After all, I looked at my reflection last night while retaining the original memories of Gerald so it would be an understatement to say that I do not know my body. However, the reflection shows me a body thicker and larger than the day before with muscles that were certainly not there the day before.
"System, show me the body window. »
Body:
- Strength: 80 kg
- Speed: 7 m/s
- Resistance: 70 kg/cm²
I think that with this power, I can probably ask Jill to join the STARS if I play it right. In addition, by the end of the day, I will continue to increase my strength slowly and without inconvenience since my virus is not unstable.
I head to my wardrobe before turning back in front of the worn and patched clothes. "Zeus' name, what are these horrors!" I exclaimed.
I quickly put on a green jersey with faded jeans and an old pair of white sneakers before leaving my apartment to look for new clothes. Fortunately, on my street, there is a store with clothes of all brands.
I leave the building before arriving in a street full of life with people everywhere, the cars circulate normally except for a slight accident not too far away. Hard to imagine that this city will end in chaos before being annihilated by a missile. Let's avoid thinking about all that, for now, clothes.
After a few meters, I arrive in front of the store before going inside and heading to the clothing department. I take 2 black jeans, 3 white t-shirts and a new pair of shoes before loading everything into a bag
As I get to the checkout, I see a pretty cashier glance at me that she probably thinks is furtive, judging my current appearance. I hand her my bag while she takes out the things.
A gunshot rings out behind me before someone shouts "Everyone on the ground, the chick at the checkout, yes it's you I'm talking about, put all the money in the bag". I didn't need to be asked twice and I got down on the ground while glancing at the robber because he was alone. He didn't even have a mask, he was a fairly tall black man with a large coat. In his hands, the weapon he was holding was a Glock pointed at the cashier. She quickly used my own bag to put the bills before the robber decided he wanted a pretty hostage too.
Normally, I am far from being brave, I even tend to run away from danger but something inside me seemed to light up and when the robber was right next to me grabbing the cashier who was crying and looking for help.
I got up in a split second before grabbing his gun and pinning him in a submission hold before asking "Someone call the police!" while I maintained a firm hold on the thug.
The action happened so quickly that the robber didn't seem to realize what happened to him while some customers ran outside calling the police hoping that a car or a patrol officer would be around. While no one was looking towards me, I took the gun before putting it in my inventory. The man was struggling under me but I barely felt it so I concluded that his strength was far inferior to my 80 kg of power.
A policeman finally came in, and to my great surprise I knew him both thanks to Gerald's memory but also and especially by the game because it was Marvin Branagh. From what I remember, he is friendly towards me while I knew that he is an exemplary cop so I feel confident.
"Hello, Officer Branagh. Do you remember me? Could you immobilize this person?" I said calmly despite the fact that the man under me was constantly fidgeting.
A little surprised by his expression, he took out a pair of handcuffs before tying the man while I stood up. "That's surprising, I didn't think I'd see you intervene to help the others Gerald, maybe you changed your mind and want to join us at the police station?" he said with a small smile before shaking my hand.
"Indeed, I would like to join the police, but I would like to join your elite unit so I will talk to Officer Valentine about it later for our coffee" I said as I saw him nod discreetly while returning his handshake.
"By the way, you wouldn't have seen this person's weapon? I don't see it and according to witnesses. This repeat offender was armed" he asked me.
"Sorry officer, I know I threw his weapon while disarming him. But I didn't keep my eyes on it as I was busy maintaining my grip" I replied hoping he wouldn't dig any further.
"Someone must have picked it up, it happens all the time, don't worry. I'll let you finish your shopping and I hope to hear some good news by tonight" he said smiling at me before leaving taking the handcuffed man in front of him who continued to struggle while cursing me.
Turning around, I see the cashier with stars in her eyes staring at me like I'm a hero. "Excuse me, miss, could you put this money back in your register and tell me how much it is for my clothes? Please" I asked clearly awkward by her look. I'm really not used to being looked at like that.
She quickly pulled herself together before offering me my purchases saying that losing the register completely would have cost more anyway. I thanked her and she hugged me thanking me for saving her and while she hugged me, I slipped $100 into her pocket just in case. I don't want her manager to fire her for her kindness. In any case, I'm not going to run out of money when I get my new job.
I quickly went back to my apartment to wash and change because, believe it or not, time flies. It's already 11 o'clock and the café is a few blocks away. I jog quietly and arrive at the café with a bag full of the drugs that I promised myself to give her. Jill is already there, dressed in a little civilian outfit and discreetly scanning the surroundings. She is a beautiful young woman of 24, she has short brown hair and a piercing pale green gaze that makes you shudder.
"Hello, darling" I said, respecting the procedure she gave me before talking about other information "I hope I'm not late, I brought you your things". I then gave her my sweetest smile as I handed her the bag and, believe it or not, seeing one of my waifus blush made my heart beat faster.
"Hello, my love, are you sure you didn't forget anything at the apartment? " she told me with a knowing look. From the tone of her voice, it seemed like she knew what Gerald was doing with his surplus. From what I remember, I'm someone who went through the same training as Jill in the Delta Force but I stopped when she left and to finish, it's been almost a year that my body has worn out from lack of exercise and overuse of drugs. No wonder the original Gerald died, I'm surprised he lasted this long.
"Not this time, everything is there, Jill." I look at her seriously before continuing. "I have something to ask you. Could you organize an aptitude test for me in your unit. I want to get myself back on track and don't worry, if I fail, I'll still join the police station as a recruit in the police." I witnessed facial changes in Jill, which neither my memories nor the games had shown. Her facial expression froze with a certain pride written in it.
"Follow me, we're going to the station right away, I'll see what you have left of your training before I make you take the test by the rest of the team. If you don't pass my test, you won't be allowed to take my unit's test, is that clear?" Jill looks at me so hard that I feel like I'm going to blush.
"Yes, Jill, I'll show you that I certainly haven't lost my touch, don't forget that I'm a master in infiltration and close combat" It's not me who says it, it's Gerald's corny phrases when he was still in the army, I'm just reciting it even if from what I remember, he's not entirely wrong. In the army, he was nicknamed the ghost spider because of his erratic fighting style and submission holds.
Something unexpected happened, Jill started laughing very hard, so hard that all the other people on the terrace looked at us. A woman got up from her seat before coming next to me looking at me with the same eyes as the cashier this morning.
"Are you okay, sir?" she asked me with compassion in her voice before turning to Jill "Miss, you could not laugh at your boyfriend, you could have never seen him again if the robber this morning was stronger."
Jill stopped laughing as quickly as she started even if it was not a forced laugh. "What do you mean, Gerald? What robber?" she asked before inspecting me a little. After looking for a few seconds, she turned her gaze to the woman next to me and surely did not miss the glint of appreciation in her eyes.
"Can you sit down and explain to me what my BOYFRIEND did this morning? Please" the girl sat down and spilled the beans about my control of the robber before handing him over to the police. The poor girl had a terrified look on her face as she looked at Jill which allowed her to leave after her story.
