Rin Replaced (BL)

Chapter 6: Guilt

Jay

"Hey, what the hell took you so long? I thought you were going to give the guy your card?" I say to Anon as he leaves Rin's room.

He was there for about 25 minutes.

"Well, I thought the guy was just confused, but it looks like he might have memory loss. He must have hit his head pretty hard. The nurse asked me to stay until the doctor came, but I knew you were waiting, so I left. Sorry." Anon says with a visibly concerned face.

Great, this is what I was worried about. Anon is going to blame himself. This guilt will eat away at him till this kid gets his memory back. He won't be able to focus on work, and I need him. Plus, I don't want him going through this when it wasn't his fault. I mean, for all we know, this guy is faking to get out of dealing with the repercussions of his actions. However, when he looked into my eyes, I felt something…odd. I don't know what to think of this guy. He makes me uneasy, that's for sure.

"Strange, we will deal with this when we have to. For now, let's go home and have dinner." I suggest as I walk towards the elevator.

When I woke up the following day, Anon was waiting for me in my office like always. I was worried he would struggle to keep his routine. Well, it looks like he's okay so far.

"Morin', Did you bring a latte for me?" I ask with a big grin.

He points to my desk, where a latte waits on a coaster. I strut over to it and take a sip. Ahh, perfect, as always. I don't know what I would do without Anon.

"Have you heard from the beau… uh, erm, I mean Mr Grace?" I ask.

Geez, I almost called him a beauty out loud. I can't seem to get that guy's face out of my head. What's up with that?

"Actually, yes, I heard from him 10 minutes ago. He will be discharged at noon. He called me to let me know everything looks good, even though he has no memory. He asked for help. He doesn't have any way to find out where he lives and who his family is. There wasn't any money in the wallet we found in his clothes, either." Anon says with his head lowered.

Yup, just as I thought, he feels responsible for the guy.

"So, what do you want to do? We can help him. Do you want to help him find his house and family?" I say with an encouraging tone.

"To be honest, no. It's a hassle, but if I don't, I will be riddled with guilt. So, if it's all right, I would like to give him the help he needs." Anon lifts his head and looks towards me.

"Please, Jay, help me, help him."

Oh man, I don't hear the word please from him very often. I was going to do it either way, but this is a nice bonus.

"Of course. Whatever you need, I'll help." I say as I smack him on the back.

He grins while he rubs his back where I hit him.

"You don't have to come with me, you know. I understand your schedule is free for the day, but honestly, I thought you would be playing that new zombie game you bought. Also, what the hell are you wearing?" Anon says while glancing over at me in the passenger seat.

"The game is still downloading, and what's wrong with what I'm wearing? It's a hoodie, jeans and a baseball cap. You know, street clothes. I've got to blend in. Unlike when I'm out on official business, I don't want to be seen."

I pull down the visor and look at myself in the mirror. I look good. I don't know what he is talking about. When we arrive, we park in the hospital parking garage.

"You look like a delinquent. A wealthy one, too." Anon says as he closes the car door.

"You're just jealous I can wear anything and still look good," I say with a chuckle.

Anon scoffs and walks towards the entrance. Just before we get inside, I feel a chill run down my back. I quickly look behind me. Years of paparazzi looming over my shoulder puts me on edge. I look around but don't see anything. Hmm, maybe I was imagining it.

We enter Rin's room, but he's nowhere to be found.

"Huh, where is he? We came all this way, and he bolts? What the fuck?" I grumble.

Just as I speak, the bathroom door swings open.

"Sorry, your Highness, I didn't know it was a crime to take a piss. I see you brought the rude guy with you, Anon." Rin laughs as he dries his hands.

"Funny, you don't seem all that sorry to me. You know who I am, but you still have the nerve to talk to me like that? Did you lose your manners, too?" I say as I plop down on the bed.

Anon stifles a laugh. I snap my head around to look at him, and he shrugs. I've been ignored. Typical.

"Ahem, as the hospital said, the address on your ID isn't valid anymore. However, I did manage to find where you are living now. I also found out that you only have one living relative, and you happen to live together. So if you're ready, we will take you home now." Anon states as he motions towards the door.

Anon is always efficient. I can always depend on him to get things done. Rin puts on his shoes and stands up.

"Alright, thanks; I'm grateful for your help," Rin says.

Anon smiles and walks out the door. Rin follows close behind him, but Rin seems hesitant.

"Rin, how are you feeling today? I see they took off the bandages." Anon asks.

Rin rubs his head and smiles. Wow, he is smiling, but it looks so fake. What is he trying to hide behind that smile?

"I feel better. It doesn't hurt as much anymore." Rin says.

As we walk through the doors to the parking garage, Rin jumps back, puts his arms out, and pushes Anon and me toward the wall. He crouches down and listens.

"What the fuck are you doing?" I snap.

This guy is sketchy.

"Shh," Rin says, putting his arm out, signaling us to stay put.

Rin suddenly dashes out the door, and we lose sight of him. Damn, he is quick. What the hell is happening right now? What's this guy's deal? You wouldn't know he was fresh out of the hospital. I should check to see what's going on. I started to move forward, but before I could look around the corner, I heard a loud sound echo through the parking garage.

-Thwack-

"Ahhhhh!!!"
