Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Revenge and Redemption
The morning sun filtered through the curtains of Lee's parents' guestroom, casting a warm glow over the modest space Wang Soo now called home. Despite the comforting environment, his mind remained a tempest of frustration, shame, and resolve.
For weeks, Wang Soo had tried to rebuild his life, but the stigma of Albeirt's rumors followed him like a shadow. The whispers, the judgmental glances, and the closed doors were constant reminders of his fall from grace. But beneath the layers of despair, a spark of determination flickered. It was time to fight back.
Lingering Shadows
Wang Soo lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He could hear the faint hum of conversation from the kitchen below, Lee and her parents talking over breakfast. But he didn't feel like joining them.
His thoughts swirled in endless loops, dragging him through every moment that had led him to this point.
"How is this fair?" he whispered to the empty room. "I gave so much to Kcreative, to my friends, to my family... and now I'm the one left with nothing."
Images of Albeirt's smug face invaded his mind. His brother was likely sitting comfortably in his office, untouched by the chaos he'd unleashed. It felt like the world was upside down—Wang Soo, the one who had worked tirelessly to help others, was now branded a villain.
His chest tightened with anger and helplessness. "Why do I have to suffer alone?" he thought bitterly. "Why do they get to laugh while I'm stuck here, picking up the pieces?"
But beneath the frustration, a voice emerged—a quiet, unyielding resolve.
"Fine," Wang Soo said aloud, his voice steadying. "If this is what they want, I'll show them who I really am. I'll prove to Albeirt, to Yura, to everyone who doubted me that I don't need their approval to succeed. I'll rise, not for them, but for myself and the people who still believe in me."
Sitting at the desk in the guestroom, Wang Soo opened his laptop. The screen displayed a blank document, the cursor blinking expectantly. He had spent sleepless nights pondering his next move, and now the plan was beginning to take shape.
He began typing, his words flowing with a clarity that he hadn't felt in weeks. He outlined ideas for a platform that could rival Kcreative, a place where creatives could thrive without fear of betrayal or exploitation.
Lee walked in, holding a cup of coffee. She placed it beside him and leaned against the desk. "What's the plan, genius?"
He glanced up at her, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Rebuild from the ground up. I have skills, connections, and a brain that refuses to quit. I just need to prove it."
Lee arched an eyebrow. "And how do you plan on doing that when half the town thinks you're a scammer?"
"By showing them the truth," he said, his voice firm. "But first, I need to get back in the game."
Wang Soo scrolled through his contacts, hesitating when he landed on a familiar name: Ja Hid. The young content creator had been one of his closest allies at Kcreative, someone who had always believed in his vision.
Taking a deep breath, Wang Soo hit the call button.
"Hyung!" Ja Hid's cheerful voice greeted him on the other end. "Long time, no see. How've you been?"
"Not great," Wang Soo admitted. "But I'm working on it. I need your help, Ja Hid."
"Anything for you, hyung. What's up?"
Wang Soo explained his plan to create a new platform that combined content creation, brand strategy, and community engagement. He outlined his vision for a space where creatives could thrive without the constraints of traditional agencies.
Ja Hid listened intently, his excitement evident. "That sounds amazing. I'm in. Just tell me what you need."
"Thanks, Ja Hid. This means a lot. We'll start small, but if we do it right, we can make something incredible."
After his call with Ja Hid, Wang Soo sat back in his chair, his mind racing. He knew Ja Hid's enthusiasm would be invaluable, but a lingering thought kept tugging at him—should he reach out to Yura?
For years, she had been like a sister to him. They had built Kcreative together, celebrated its successes, and weathered its storms. But her betrayal had cut deep, and he couldn't ignore the pain it had caused.
He opened his phone, staring at her contact. A part of him wanted to confront her, to demand answers, or even to ask for her help in clearing his name. But another part—the part that had grown tired of depending on others—stopped him.
"No," he murmured, shaking his head. "I don't need her approval. If she couldn't stand by me when it mattered most, then I'll do this without her."
Wang Soo deleted the unsent message and closed his phone. This was his fight now, and he would rise on his own terms, with the help of those who had proven their loyalty.
With Ja Hid on board, Wang Soo began piecing together his new venture. Late nights turned into early mornings as they brainstormed ideas, crafted strategies, and reached out to potential collaborators.
Lee watched from the sidelines, a mix of pride and concern etched on her face. "Don't overdo it," she warned one night as Wang Soo pored over his laptop.
"I can't afford to slow down," he said, his eyes blazing with determination. "This is my chance to take back control."
As the weeks passed, their hard work began to pay off. Social media buzzed with whispers of Wang Soo's new project, and inquiries from interested clients trickled in. The tides were slowly turning, but Wang Soo knew the battle was far from over.
