Rise of the Zerg in the World of Gods

Chapter 9: Suicide Charge

"What?" In a distant divine realm, a peculiar creature with an antenna on its head received news of its realm being invaded. It stood up in surprise. "A human?"

Its antenna swayed as its round head showed a contemplative expression.

"A human dares to invade our Molodo civilization?" It laughed recklessly.

Mere humans, just a Tier 1 civilization, having joined the interstellar community only recently, dared to provoke the Molodo, an established Tier 2 civilization? It seemed the last divine realm war hadn't taught them enough of a lesson!

"Open the defenses. Let him in!"

This Molodo member was extremely confident. Coming from a noble background, it started with Bronze Tier 4 lizardmen, quickly multiplied them using breeding cards, and equipped them with weapons and armor. Its strength had increased significantly, outshining its peers, let alone a mere human.

As it opened the realm's defenses, a dark mass of creatures flooded in, rushing towards the native lizardmen.

"How is this possible?"

Seeing the numbers, the Molodo was stunned. How could there be so many?

Its lizardman army had less than 2,000 regulars, but the enemy had tens of thousands!

Xu Luo, who had prepared to forcibly break through the realm's defenses, smiled when he saw the opponent open them voluntarily. This saved him a considerable expense.

He had invested a lot in this invasion and wouldn't rest until he recouped his costs!

"Oh?"

While deities couldn't enter others' realms personally, they could view the situation through their followers' perspectives.

Seeing the lizardmen with crude armor and cleavers, Xu Luo tensed. The opponent was so well-armed; their strength must be formidable. He hoped he hadn't underestimated them; meanwhile, the Molodo was panicking. Not only were the enemy numbers overwhelming, but their tier was also high.

Though unequipped, their sheer numbers were daunting! Moreover, it sensed its realm was under some special attack, slowly shrinking at a noticeable rate.

This was the mayflies' work.

Xu Luo now had hundreds of thousands of them, capable of collecting vast amounts of evolution points in minutes. How could he not include these adorable little creatures in the invasion?

Under the Molodo's control, the lizardmen formed battle formations, continuously resisting the Zerg's attacks. But Xu Luo wasn't foolish enough to engage in a head-on clash.

The evolved Beetle Zerg had thicker armor than the Armored Zerg, forming shield-like rows at the front to block attacks. Behind them, the Mantis Zerg waited for opportunities. With mantis-like scythe arms and the Jumping Zerg's leaping ability, they could jump in, strike twice, and retreat, which was terrifying.

Even more frightening were the Acid Zerg at the rear.

They continuously sprayed acid, unreachable by the lizardmen. The acid corroded the lizardmen's armor and cleavers. If it hit exposed skin, the effect was worse than sulfuric acid, and even more potent!

Watching its followers fall, the Molodo demi-god named Moka felt a mix of shock and anger. These followers had been cultivated at great cost, and losing even one was painful.

It hadn't expected the human civilization it looked down upon to produce such a formidable entity.

"You forced my hand!"

"Divine Art — Frenzy!"

Although reluctant, it had no choice but to use it now. Demi-Gods without domains naturally had no divine arts.

This was a scroll, a one-time consumable sealed by high-ranking deities.

Frenzy was one of the War God's divine arts, causing an individual's followers to go berserk and increasing all attributes by 30% for a short time! Although it only lasted ten minutes and would weaken the followers for a day afterward, there was no choice now.

Weakness was better than annihilation!

A blood-red light centered on Moka, flying out from the realm's core and accurately empowering all the lizardmen. Suddenly, the previously cowering lizardmen became fierce and fearless.

They even pushed back the Beetle Zerg's defensive line.

However, the Beetle Zerg's numbers were sufficient, and their armor thick enough to make killing them difficult.

Even with the lizardmen enhanced, their defense increase wasn't significant, leaving them still vulnerable to the Acid Zerg's spray.

"Hmph!" Moka snorted angrily, forced to use a trump card. "Divine Protection!"

It used another protective scroll, which pained it greatly. These weren't just expensive; they were hard to acquire. But you get what you pay for. After using Divine Protection, a barrier formed in front of the lizardmen, blocking both acid sprays and Mantis Zerg attacks.

"Now what will you do?"

Moka was quite pleased. This item had been obtained by its elder with considerable effort, originally intended for civilization wars. It hadn't expected to be forced to use it now. Although using the precious item was painful, its effect was immediate.

Seeing the opponent unable to harm its forces, Moka became elated. At this point, it didn't care about losses. As long as it could protect its realm and prevent species extinction, that was the best outcome.

If the realm was destroyed, losing deity qualification, no amount of preparation would matter.

"Oh? So wealthy?"

Seeing the opponent use items one after another, Xu Luo was surprised.

He was no longer a complete novice. After a week of systematic learning, he recognized most common precious items, if not all.

Like the two Moka had just used.

"But if that's all you've got, you're done!"

Under Xu Luo's control, the Beetle Zerg slowly retreated, making way.

Before Moka could express confusion, it saw the Acid Zerg rush to the front.

Then, to its astonished gaze, before the lizardmen could attack, these insects self-destructed!

The suicide attacks caused the barrier to ripple and shake violently.

Before

long, this treasure obtained at the cost of favors shattered!

"How... how is this possible?"

Seeing this, Moka found it hard to believe.

This was Divine Protection! How could it break so easily?
