River Of Anew: Farming In Another World

Vol 3 Chapter 11: The Snowy Top part 4

Foin was finally able to cook something. Although he knew that his cooking skills were not the best, he could eat anything other than vegetables. Although he did eat some meat recently, the amount was not nearly enough to be used for a pot of soup.

By the time the girls finished their long bathing, the soup had long been finished, and Foin had already put the pot away from the fire to let it cool down. He had already prepared a few plates and spoons around it.

"Master, this bath is so great!"

Énilo said as soon as she and Gobu left the bathroom. At first, they only looked at Foin, who was sitting on his bed looking at the ground, but then they noticed the pot of food.

"Oh, I am glad you enjoyed it! In the meantime, I have prepared something new. Though I am not an expert cook, I used some of the meat given by Linyer, so I hope it will be tasty. By the way, just to save on the wood, I will go and take a bath while the water is still hot. In the meantime, you two should try the soup!"

Foin added with a smile as he stepped into the bathroom and put the plate to cover the door. He looked at the still, slightly burning piece of wood heating the wood and then quickly undressed and stepped into the bathtub. His eyes widened as soon as his feet touched the hot water; it was much hotter than he had expected.

Eventually, he got in and leaned against its side, staring ahead of himself. He glanced at the plants in the room. As he closed his eyes, he started thinking about the plants he had. He had pepper, potato, élion, peteach, huunt, and platic, a total of six plants, which he felt was extremely lacking. After all, his title was farmer, and he knew he would need to acquire many more different seeds.

The only thing which motivated him as he thought about meeting Linyer's mother was the possibility of being able to get some sort of new seeds by trading or bartering. Also, that seemingly impossible quest he was given was a force that had a different effect. He felt that it was like finding a needle in a haystack, and it had a deteriorating effect on his mood and excitement.

"I guess I need to utilise the things and powers given by the system..."

Foin mumbled as he sighed and started slightly sweating from the hot water and air. He recalled that he gained points for planting and harvesting, and the only way he saw these points being used was by the inventory, which had just been upgraded.

In addition, he had also accumulated ability points per level up, which he had yet to spend any of; he had been too focused on terraforming his area and working with his plants.

Foin soon submerged fully under the water to wet his now relatively longer hair as well, but he soon came out as the water was too hot for his head.

Minutes flew by quickly as he just enjoyed the smoothening effect of the hot water, and then he jumped out of the tub. With one swift motion, he moved his wet hair out of his face and slightly shook his head. With a grin on his face, he clenched his fists and sighed.

"Be prepared, The Amethyst Martensitic Lady; I am coming to meet you!"

He mumbled as he just stood on a pile of grass, letting water drip from his body down. He didn't have anything to dry himself with, so he just waited a few minutes, and then put his clothes back on, and then left the bathroom.

Outside, the girls were eating on the ground. As soon as he stepped outside, although he was still wet, he decided to sit down beside them and grabbed a plate full of soup. The others were lost in the taste of the soup, so they only nodded as he sat down beside them.

At first, Foin took a single spoonful to taste it. In it, he purposefully grabbed a chunk of meat to give it a test. He was disappointed. He expected it to be rich in flavours, but it was nothing special; the only thing he found appealing was its texture, as it was soft and melted in his mouth.

"Énilo, are you sure you want to come with me tomorrow?"

Foin spoke up after the first spoon of still-hot soup.

"Of course! I need to protect you! We don't know what this Linyer girl is up to, so we can not be prepared enough!"

"Alright... Thank you! Gobu... Since you will be here overseeing the underground base... Just in case, let me tell you a few things! Don't forget to keep this fire up always, as it would be difficult to light a new fire. If you are cold, don't forget the boiler needs some time to heat up. Also, you can eat anything from the growing peteaches, peppers, and potatoes; don't forget to plate the last two back."

Foin started talking, but then he paused as he lifted the plate up, took a quick sip from his soup, and then continued.

"If you eat peteaches, use the liquid to make some pots as we could use them; do not waste the liquid. Also, I made some extra food today so that you needn't worry about harvesting for a few days... Hopefully!"

"Yes! I understand! Rest assured, I will do everything as you have said!"

The goblin replied. Foin nodded, and he once again started using his spoon to finish the soup.

The three of them soon finished eating, and since the plats were ready to be harvested, Foin knew what his next objective was. Unlike before, however, he did not put everything into his inventory; he put the peppers and potatoes into a pile in the bathroom and then instantly replaced them. He also put the peteaches into that pile, but then the platics and the huunts were all put into his inventory. The huunts and the two types of platics were rare and valuable enough for him to keep them safe with him.

Once the harvest was done, he quickly fetched his bag, the one which he had when he first arrived here and looked inside it. It still had the two plastic bottles, his lighter and his phone. He put the bag next to the sword and then stretched his back slightly.

"Tomorrow will be quite new... I am already nervous, so I will most likely not sleep well..."
