Road to becoming the wealthiest: Starting From Treasure Hunting in the Cabinets

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Out of luck?

The auctioneer arrived, breaking the awkwardness on the scene.

Madden and the others did not expect that Sean Knight was fully informed of their "proud" achievements.

If these things were mentioned in regular times, they would be worth bragging about. Every business has its ups and downs.

In this line of work, if you don't have exceptional achievements, being ridiculed or looked down upon is normal.

But now, their achievements served as a contrast to Sean's "ordinary" success - who could say that Sean earning 100,000 dollars in a week was greater than their achievements?

Which one of them, these big shots, did not earn hundreds of thousands in a year?

On a lucky day, it wasn't unusual to earn tens of thousands of dollars in a day!

So, the attention on Sean was quickly diverted to others.

Some people suddenly recalled that once upon a time, these big shots were greater than Sean Knight. Sean was just one of the lucky ones!

The Freight Yard Owner appeared and saw so many people, which made him very happy.

More people meant more bidding competition for the same container, and more money in his hand.

To avoid suspicion, Sean didn't go to see the containers up close, so before the first container was cut open, he didn't know what was inside.

When the container door was opened, a "person" fell out!

Everyone at the scene was startled, and the person who opened the door screamed and ran off!

The people occupying the advantageous positions near the door stepped back!

Sean, with his keen eyes, saw this and couldn't help laughing.

When that "person" fell to the ground and bounced a little, the others realized that it was just a mannequin, not a real person.

The people behind them laughed out loud.

The people in front were red-faced and embarrassed. They made quite a scene!

However, Elder Joey, who was standing at the front, picked up the model, took a closer look, gave it a squeeze, and suddenly exclaimed excitedly:

"This is silicone, and the workmanship seems pretty good!"

Sean looked carefully and saw that it was a life-size girl wearing a super short skirt, and it was the hollowed-out kind.

Those who understand, understand.

Sean recalled a piece of information, that reportedly, over 99% of adult products and clothing in the world were produced in a certain Chinese town, but he didn't know if it was true or not.

Looking further in, there were seven or eight more human models like this, as well as a few long, rectangular boxes.

Sean didn't bother using his Sky Eye, as these things were clearly visible to everyone and there was no chance of getting any bargains.

As the first container auction began, he seized the opportunity to check out the second container.

Inside the second container were two suitcases with open lids, and the contents inside were messy.

Exposed were some clothes, a toiletry kit, a few towels, and other miscellaneous items.

Papers and opened or closed books were scattered on the floor of the container. On the side of the container were some thread-bound books, most of which had been flipped through.

In short, it looked as if the place had been ransacked.

Subconsciously, Sean wanted to look at the third container but caught a glimpse of a stone in the corner of the container with his Sky Eye.

In Sean's mind, a stone placed in a container must be extraordinary!

So he glanced at the stone.

The gray-skinned stone looked unremarkable, but it was the size of two adult fists combined and vaguely resembled a bird with its head raised.

Then Sean discovered the green within it!

This was jadeite!

Good heavens!

Others went to gamble on stones in search of rocks, but here, the rocks were being delivered to his doorstep!

He couldn't let his Sky Eye go to waste!

Sean withdrew his Sky Eye and suddenly felt something was wrong. He looked at the container's lock.

The lock was quite new!

Sean had a guess: this container had been stolen, and the Freight Yard Owner had replaced the lock and brought it back for sale, right?

Looking at the mess inside, there was a good chance!

Sean understood and thought that he could take advantage of this later.

Next, he went to check out the third container.

At this moment, the bidding for the first container had reached 3,100 dollars - everyone knew that these items were worth money, and several big shots did not want to give up.

Sean couldn't help but shout out:

"3,500 dollars!"

The auctioneer immediately noticed him but remained expressionless, raising the auction price to 3,500 dollars and continuing without stopping.

Sean's bid was like throwing a stone into the sea; it caused no stir and was quickly outbid one after another.

He did not raise his bid again and focused on the third container.

With experience, he first checked the container lock.

It was normal.

Then he activated his Sky Eye and found that although it had not been stolen, the inside had been cleaned up.

There were a few boxes of bits and pieces, bottles, and jars, all looking like old items. His Sky Eye scanned through some condiments, household tools, penholders, pencil holders, and even a copper writing brush!

This was interesting.

The copper writing brush looked like a real brush and was placed in a pen holder with the other writing brushes.

The pen holder seemed to have some age to it, and Sean thought it was a pretty neat item.

He would get it later!

Withdrawing his Sky Eye, he found that the auction for the first container was nearing its end, so he didn't bother raising his bid again.

That's because the bidding had reached 8,600 dollars. Even if he won, after deducting various expenses, there wouldn't be much profit.

Then it was time for the second container.

Just as the assistant was about to open the lock, someone with keen eyes suddenly shouted:

"This lock is so new - has this container been opened before?"

Upon hearing this, the people at the scene immediately raised a commotion!

In a container auction, the cargo owner can, of course, open the container, but it must be declared.

After all, the price of a sorted container and an all-or-nothing container are two different prices!

Seeing the bidders making a fuss, the Freight Yard Owner quickly came to explain:

"No, no! We at the Golden Ocean Freight Yard would never do such a thing! We haven't opened any of these containers—"

"How do you explain this new lock then? The containers are exposed to the elements for a long time before they expire and get auctioned off. This lock is so new; it doesn't look like the original lock at all!"

Elder Joey's rant represented the thoughts of most of the bidders.

Sean was amused. Now he didn't have to fan the flames; these people were already lighting the fire themselves.

But this also showed that these bidders were not just relying on luck to make a living. Just based on this observation, Sean had much to learn!

"I guarantee! I assure you that we haven't been in the container!" The Freight Yard Owner was close to swearing, but seeing that people obviously didn't believe him, he had to tell the truth:

"Alright, alright, some damned thief took advantage of our unguarded moment and opened this container. But I guarantee that there are still valuable things in here!"

"Hiss——!"

The crowd hissed.

The assistant cut the lock and opened the container door at this moment.

Seeing the mess inside, almost everyone had a disappointed expression on their faces.

The Freight Yard Owner was very regretful at this point - why didn't he tidy it up at the time?

"Okay, let's start the auction. The opening bid is 25 dollars."

For a moment, there was no response from the crowd!
